Yeah, it's weird how everyone can do better 3D anime than the japanese anime industry, barring a few exceptions. I single out the anime industry, because their gaming industry is fine. The new guilty gears come to mind.
@@LyaksandraB The issue with the anime industry is that it sucks. Animators are constantly overworked and underpaid and most studios try to rush out as much anime as they can for as cheap as possible.

The "bouncy" animation style found in most Hollywood animated movies, like Hotel Transylvania, combined with an anime art style is incredible!
Not entirely, this was seen a lot in late 90s-early 2000s anime. This was the vibe I’ve been getting from ZZZ since the first trailer of it.

The first time ive genuinely considered playing a hoyo game, besides honkai impact. The combo of bouncy animation, hoyo's signature fan-service, gameplay style, fan-service, mini-games, and did I mention the fan-service?
And this has the fanservice I love, BIG BARA BEARS
I'm tempted to try it too, but I just know I'm gonna be disappointed by its monetization. MiYoHo have a track record of making good games with horrible pricing.

Whoa just watching these intro clips the characters seem so full of life and not stiff its honestly really impressive
I saw a clip of this game's cutscenes, and it was jaw-droppingly good animation. The animators worked hard and CARED about what they were doing. It's insane.
Dunno if Hoyo still doesn't do this but for the love of god, *either archive story related events or don't make story elements a limited time event* I don't care about missing the rewards but there isn't much reason for new players to play a game with a major lean on story, and then tell them they can't enjoy all of the story while reminding them they missed character introductions that came from a one time 3 week event
This is exactly why I'm never playing genshin impact. FOMO only drives people away once the time period is over if it was important content.
They actually do this with Star Rail, and I suspect that they'll make a point of doing it going forward.
They've been talking about finding some way to do it reasonably with Genshin, but I think the big issue for them on that front is disk space (Since a lot of those big events are pretty big and having them permanently in files would massively increase disk space usage, which'd be rough on mobile/console players).
@@Kuruyami What they've started to do with _Honkai Impact 3rd_ is allow players to choose which parts of the game they keep the data for. I think it'd be awesome if they did this for their other games too. Maybe even make it possible to choose what you plan to do from the game launcher to cut down on load times, especially in _Genshin_ . Resource management like this could save some players' phones, seriously.
@@BNuts It would definitely be nice. If they made it possible to like archive/clear out audio files/cutscenes from completed portions of the story quest, that could theoretically save dozens of gigs of space.
Not sure how they would handle it for new players though.

"I find the monotone characters a bit dull." As someone who likes monotone, I'd be willing to bet (or be proven wrong) it's the shitty writing for most of said characters that bugs you. A *lot* of writers make monotone characters then fail to make up for the inherent deficit in intrigue with more than maybe a single other trait.
Also, you advocated for maid characters, their main shtick is being efficient and composed. And let's not forget a certain princess you like (same).

I think hoyo saw genshin and their Honkai series and thought to them selfs, "Do you know what we failed to do on our past games, we didn't give the gals azur lane levels of jiggle".
The animations of this game look great, almost would want them to make a CC character just to see her in this style

From what I’ve seen from the rest of the Genshin/HSR community regarding this game, they all seem to mirror your opinions here pretty closely. Animation and characters are great, minus the male MC being kind oof boring, combat is good, the TV world is not great and could use some love since it’s the main content of the game. People are a little concerned but enthusiastic because it just looks incredible and the animation is top tier.

I’ve also been seeing stuff about the lack of variety in levels, enemies, and the combat giving not much challenge besides damage sponges, feels like the combat is the inbetween of the TV sections instead of the TV sections being the inbetween of the Combat sections
I played the first Hoyoverse game Honkai. I liked it, but the emphasis of THIS IS A MOBILE GAME was getting to be waay too much for me. Same reason why I havent played Star Rail.... As you stated, this animation is top tier. Its crazy fluid looking full of energy and just seriously fun to look at. If they did an animation series, "Hoyo... Hint hint, Do this." I would seriously watch it, even if it was kind of bad. To see the character interactions with this kind of animation and style would just be a lot of fun. If hoyo did make an animation, I seriously doubt it would be bad considering the effort they put out in these games. Its just a shame they choose to do the mobile market.
I really wish they will, one day, do normal game instead of gacha games because they have everything to make great games ! (Good writter, good art team, good developper team)

Squash and stretch is incredibly underrated in animation, so many game and animation studios go for the hyper realistic and never really seem to be able to pull it off convincingly, so I'm happy to see this animation style growing in popularity. You can make characters uniquely expressive with this style and it's wonderful to see.

I love the look of games like these, but their open-ended nature has always discouraged me from playing them. I like my stories to have a beginning, middle and end.

I can't wait for this game. Holy crud. I enjoyed Genshin a lot and that game's combat was rather simple. This game almost looks like a slower DMC with character swaps instead of hotswap combos. It actually looks insane.

Ever since I played "evolution world" (for the gamecube for those who want to look it up), where one of your party members is your own butler *WHO WIELDS A SHOTGUN*, I've been wanting more butler characters in games.

Alright, it turned from a no to a maybe. I'm not too fond of Hoyoverse's stuff but I am a sucker for ARPGs and its hard not to fall in love with that animation style. Hope that it doesnt get bogged down by microtransactions

I just went to their main website and everything looked so charming and lively. Mind you, it's a bunch of images, nice website design, and cool background music, so I can only imagine what the game is like if just the websites were that impressive. Time to try out this Equalizing test and see what happens

This is my first time seeing this game and what the holy hell why is the animation so good
The animation is good to draw players into the gacha loop. Better looking means more people will be attracted to playing it, works really well for HoYo.

When the video started, I was expecting some generic game but Zenless Zone Zero legitimately has my interest.
Looks neat, but my concern is how it will play on a phone. Main reason I dropped Genshin for Star Rail is that trying to play an action game on a phone is...challenging. And I'm away from my computer fairly often so phone is sometimes the only option I've got for dailies (and there will be dailies in a Hoyo game)
I hope someone makes a compilation of the animations just to see how far they distort their character models JUST to make actions more punchy. That has my interest. It's not enough for me to get it on any platform but as an observation.

Id love to try it but I tend to never get lucky on closed beta picks and this one was no exception.
there also seems to be alot more depth to the battle than it seems, there seem to be hidden commands to trigger different attacks on characters, typical of fighting games

Every single Hoyoverse game has catered more and more to me. Genshin was cool and had good music and pretty women, but then Honkai added a Roguelike mode and had maybe even better music and prettier women, and now ZZZ has one of my favorite aesthetics in fiction, a roguelike mode, insane animation, sick combat,
maybe the best music out of the three, AND the prettiest women.
I have been so frickin stoked for this game. I can't wait for it to release!
I'm enjoying the animation as well, although it's REALLY hard to maintain a consistent level of quality for a game that gets monthly updates, like Hoyo's usual business model.
The weird Chinese exclusive Persona 5 game is a good example of this, with some of its cutscenes looking on-par with actual P5, meanwhile other cutscenes are just a black narration screen.
I HOPE this game keeps its bouncy fun cutscenes. They make the euphoria alarms go off.
This is the first I've seen that TV monitor thing and that kinda dampens my hype for this. I don't even know what I'm looking at. I was really hoping there would be actual like stages you'd be moving through like a DMC game or something.
most of the animation of this game i saw from a distance or of billy. it took me until 3:22, to notice Nicole's... bouncy physics.
I reeeaaaally want to see you review Arknights. It's admittedly nothing like this game (it's a tactical sort of gamr) but once you get into the meat of things it becomes its own brand of amazing. That game genuinely made me SMARTER.
The style and characters are pretty cool! Love the maids! Also cyborgchan is pretty great.

I found a game similar that isn’t FtP, you ever played the newer Atelier games, can definitely recommend the Ryza trilogy if you like HoYo style games without gacha.
I think they occasionally overdo it with the character animation, sometimes restraint can pay of better than some overexaggerated goofiness. In terms of the work being put into it it is very impressive though.
Target audience is children/teens so it's ok.

I feel the same, but i did try genshin, i had the bias many people have of “genshin bad” but i was genuinely thrown aback by just how much of it is copied from breath of the wild, I refuse to try honkai star rail because the amount of ads for that game that were thrown at me made me want to put a bullet through my head, but this looks like a great game.
Scott definitely plays Zenless for the **plot**...
