Finally a real hard tail rider. Been watching mtb videos of people downhilling hardtail an they all wear the pro gear but have there saddle about 10 f***ing feet high an move like molasses. Personally I have always preferred hardtail an have been riding at a higher level for 15 years or so.
i'm downhilling too on a hardtail...and trust me there's nothing you cant do...something that a full suspension bike does,a hardtail can do it too you just need abillities....it needs some skills i mean DOWNHILL needs skills its not like footbal basketball and this kind of sports.....dont think because you have a HT you cant go for some serius downhill.....if you have a good HT it it possible full susp. bikes just doesnt have to many wobbles....i my opinion i dont care HT is what i need...i can go anywhere i can petal and i can downhill...RESPECT your bike people :)
Mona Liza-Official After spending some serious money for a full suspension bike, now i regret it. Yeah, its a cool feeling to ride a squishy bike.... but its not worth the maintenance and potential damage you can do to the linkage system or shock. I also dont like to get my rear end kicked out high while taking off or dropping because of the shock... with a HT you can expect the exact same feel every time as the back wheel leaves the takeoff.
Sweet ride mate, I just bought a moutain bike and it's a hard tail so stated watching youtube and started thinking I should have bought a duely but you have shown me the light.!! GREAT VID..!!
Thanks dude for this video , i was wondering if a hard tail can do the same that a doble susp or a donwhill...cuz i dint have money to buy one of these... Sorry for my english i am from Guatemala
I recently went from a 80mm hardtail to a 140mm FS and I can tell you this: The front suspension matters ALOT. The rear, maybe not as much as I think good body english and proper handling skills can compensate for lack of rear travel (as this video demostrates). Big tires, stiff wheels, solid brakes and slack headtube are the real keys to riding fast downhill.
Right on bro!! Hardtail pride for life. I too ride a HT for every type of riding. I'ma currently on a '09 Giant STP SS totally stock out of the box with DJ3's on 'em. Upgrades to cockpit coming in spring. I love the looks & comments I get when I show up to races or rides with my "little" bike. Then I hand the mountain it's ass, best times ever. Plus it makes you a better rider to do all this stuff on a HT. Wicked vid keep 'em coming. Hardtail pride for life!!
wow you were flying there! i havnt the balls to be that quick yet, ive only been into mtbing a couple of months so im just finding my feet, keep up the good work!
Hardtail all the way man, props! How you ride that rough stuff without clipless pedals is beyond me! I find myself sliding around on the pedals without. Good video.
I had a full susser and i prefer my old hardtail everyday of the week, im selling my full susser now to get back on that hardtail wagon!! Awesome vid btw dude!!!
Wow, man that's impressive. You ride that like your on a full suspension rig. ahaha, how can you even see though- your eyeballs must be giggling so hard. ( but man, goats, triple hump and the 'manager' on a hard tail- respect :) )
any plans to change it to SRAM? I used an XT rear dee and i find that the springs get worn rather quick. Soon the dee starts to wobble like when it doesnt have shadow technology, slapping the chain badly. Altho i love its shifting :) RD was used for abt 1year. Im getting a saint soon, but i would like to try SRAM tho.
That's awesome. I have a devinci code which is a dirt jumper. I do freeriding with it but have never tried downhill. After watching this video I think I'm going to hit up whistler.
I have a 2012 GT Force 4.0, i am not quiet sure if i can use it as a downhill bike the way it is (RockShox XC32 TK w/120mm travel QR, adjustable rebound AND X-Fusion 02 R w/120mm travel, adjustable rebound) any advice or comment? it will be VERY helpfull! Thanks!
I love this vid. It is so smooth. I really like the big rock (1:33) and the wood track jumps! I am curious what the you think the benefits of a hardtail vs. full suspension are.
Excelente video dude, just wondering to ask something to anybody who can answer... How different is DH with HT bike? I've been always doing DH with a FS but I never realised that DH can be done with a HT bike, what do you think about that? It's more difficult and slower with a HT? Waiting forward to your answers!
@ellsworth1986 This is good stuff. I attack the trails like this too with my hardtail. I need quick advice though. I've always riden a hardtail because I do a lot of street riding too. I'm going to upgrade my ride this year though. What's your opinion on hardtail vs full suspension for biking in 1,000 ft elevation ranges?
so after watching this, i have figured I need to grow some balls. that is some incredible riding!
hardtails sort the men from the boys!
Unbelievably smooth, a joy to watch and inspiration to any rider, hardtail or otherwise.
Super-sweet!
Absolutely spectacular. This must be THE best DHHT video ever made. A stunning inspiration to all the Hardtail Heros.
