Or tetanus shots... Out of all the rods I've seen and heard and the owners and the fabricators that spoke about their rides this one is the number one vehicle that I enjoyed, everything from you guys speaking, to the ride you took us on, it was very enjoyable, bar none! And for posting this video, thank you so much from The Yakima Valley, Washington State, Godspeed!!!
That is bad assed hardcore Hot rodding!!...Kudos to the owner... Very Nice!!..Thank you for sharing your project..and thanks to Mike for presenting these hidden gems for us to see
+EvilSSP I have something similar attached to the doors of my Olds '48. What he meant was "no USABLE mirrors". (I for one like to know what happens around me so I'm gonna get something usable that still doesn't look too awful...)
EPIC episode big muscle, I'm glad I caught it so early! This is a great example of how broad the muscle car spectrum goes, it's a *PHILOSOPHY* not just a *type of car*. MAN that thing is mean looking, looks so fun to drive!!!
Coxy002605 Not in america no, but over here across the pond cars are much more expensive so many people drive around in old junk cause they cant buy a new one
NikesZ28 I'm from the U.K and rarely see cars that are more that 15-20 years old, let alone 50-100. If there was a demand for cars that lasted that long, manufacturers would be making them.
To swap and build a new motor after the sandy dust eats the valves, cylinder walls and piston rings? On a scale of putting gas in the tank and doing a custom built motor it would probably be closer to the latter.
i find the police either ignore mine or stare at it, but ultimately i haven't received a ticket yet. And hope i never do. Besides. Mine's perfectly legal.
I love bias ply tires, non pwr. drum brakes, manual recirculating ball steering, big blocks, 4 speeds, and 120 avgas. Then you are ready to rock. Don't forget the straight pipes.
I've said it before, but Thaddeus really has the eye for masterful composition. There are episodes of Big Muscle I consider to cinematic perfection, due to the stellar camera work. That combined with Musto's deft shit talking skills and the great cars makes for a winning combo. Big Muscle really needs to come back. Leno's Garage, Roadkill, and Big Muscle. That was the ultimate motorhead package. :)
I don't know if you know this yet, but he now works for Motortrend with a new show called House of Muscle. It's practically the exact same show. I haven't seen any of it yet because you nee MTOD and I can't afford that shit but it looks good.
Yeah, I saw the first first episode. Cool stuff, but I didn't see Thaddeus' name in the credits and it didn't look like his camera work. Still cool, but Thaddeus Brown is who really made Big Muscle and Musto shine like they did.
Mike, thanks for showcasing the roads around Sonoma County. I live in Santa Rosa and I love driving the back roads here. Matt, Jay and Magnus talk about the roads in LA, they need to come up here!
It's undeniable that Mike certainly looks the happiest when driving these rat rods, so it must be true -- they are a LOT cooler to drive than a Ferrari
+Drive BigMuscle yeah but a lot of them look like they'd be abysmal to go fast in. personally, I like the feeling of absolute control over a car. as sweet and interesting a lot of rat rods are, I don't think that I would get that in one. plus you have to worry all the time about it snapping in half and murdering you.
Sounds Great! The Ferrari comment reminded me when My teenage daughter was working at Mayo Clinic/Hospital in Scottsdale helping patients in and out of Hospital. A guy in a Ferrari pulls up and my daughter says "nice car", the guy goes "how about if I trade for what you drive?" She said "no way no how!" He walks away shaking his head and a bit later comes back and says were you serious as not wanting to trade? She says absolutely YES! "No way would I trade for your Ferrari, The guy goes "I want to see what you drive then" She points to her 1966 F250 Ranger in the Parking lot. The guy still cannot believe what he is hearing so again asks. She let him know she would rather drive her Truck! He just stood there with his jaw hanging down.
open velocity stacks, dusty roads, he built it ,he's driving like a bat out of hell & were all watching wth evnvyous thoughts of being in the drivers seat......priceless.
What is that style of exhaust called? I’m planning on doing the same thing but was hoping to get a little more information other than how they look. I’m sure it’s custom made
I sure would for a fact. These are real cars. Outside the Rust Look-they're fabulous in every way. I'm thrilled that I live in a country that allows this stuff. Car sounds great guys.
"It's.... not exactly what I'd call a canyon carver, but holy shit if it doesn't keep you on your toes." I wish a car salesman would talk to me like that hahah!!
While I can appreciate Rat Rods, most people have lost what the original meaning of what they were. They used to be about some kid or young man that had a couple of hundred bucks and bought an old jalopy. Then he would call up all of his buddies and say "Hey cat, I just bought this old car what do you have to help me get her going for the drag strip this weekend?" And then putting the car together with the help of his friends and getting it running and ready to race. Nowadays, it's just become another fashion trend.
7:08 "There are no mirrors" - clearly shows a mirror and a few seconds later you can actually see the mirror side of the mirror. Edit: Folks, this was meant as a friendly, tongue-in-cheek comment. I'm not a troll and I don't trash-talk content creators. I am sorry if my comment angered you. I will make sure to make it more clear in the future!
+Drive BigMuscle I remember seeing the owner start this as a project *waaay hidden in the depths of youtube* :D. Your easily my favorite part of /DRIVE brother, keep it up, I can tell you really search hard for these awesome machines, and you show us a little bit of everything!
I thought Hilborne mechanical injection was scroll controlled and the restriction (pill)in the return line was the pressure regulator...Ha...Shows how much I know...Pretty cool old unit...
+ZIGgassedUP Fancy seein you here! , i love true mechanical injection, i thought the pill style regulator was used in hat injection applications. but then again, that shows how much i know too. Good seein ya Ziggy!
love it.... it is what it is. I wonder what Henry Ford would say if he could see his cars of today. hope he would be proud like Shelby was of his cars. and it's a Ford engine in a Ford.... wow new concept.... love it
Bias ply tires suck! I had a 63 Ford Galaxie as my first car in high school with bias tires. Every time you go over transitions in asphalt roads, it would sway and dart. I put radials on it couldn't believe that tires could make so much difference.I am sure Coker Tire has some radials waiting for that beautiful car. Well done guys.
9:15, tell that to the rest of my motorpool, they look at me crazy when I tell them the 1st car I bought is a 74 Comet. And they dont think its gonna make the 10 hour drive up hear when I go back for it. XD
I built and raced one very similar to this. Maybe a little safer. haha but it was a blast. Ran 12.6 @ 108 in the 1/4 with an open dif and all season radials. hilarious.
... if I made a rod that featured straight through velocity stacks and mechanical Hillbourne, and I lent it to a guy to do an internet video, and he took it out onto a gravel strip and did donuts in the dust... I don't think I'd be all that impressed... I wouldn't be lending him any more of my cars.
Eh, looking at the work done to the car body, I probably would have handed him the key's back and found a different car to review. Leaving the gas tank in the cowl alone would have probably been safer than it's current location too.
I never have my fill of watching this classic Hot Rod video. It keeps me pumped up about my three years newer Hot Rod with same engine as this one.
Or tetanus shots...

"There are no mirrors"
Clearly shows a side view @7:09 LOL
+EvilSSP I have something similar attached to the doors of my Olds '48. What he meant was "no USABLE mirrors".

EPIC episode big muscle, I'm glad I caught it so early!
This is a great example of how broad the muscle car spectrum goes, it's a *PHILOSOPHY* not just a *type of car*.
MAN that thing is mean looking, looks so fun to drive!!!
Mike laughing like a maniac when the door flew open was just perfect. I want one of these now.
Love this machine! Rat Rods are what I like to call Man Art - and this Is one fine piece!
What a beautiful Ford A! amazing man! Congrats for the great work :)
One of the best episodes I've seen
I grinned like a mofo when he said there was a three-step process to steering. Shit sounds like a blast to drive.
Stuff made in 2015 sure as hell is not gonna be working 2115 :D
They dont make shit like use to...
Yea that's true. (pretty much lol)
+NikesZ28 There is no demand for vehicles that last that long, so manufacturers don't make them.
Coxy002605 Not in america no, but over here across the pond cars are much more expensive so many people drive around in old junk cause they cant buy a new one

Coxy002605 Im from sweden and i think its more expensive here then in UK.
It has allot to do with financing and so to.
Thanks for this video! Next best thing to us who only dream of driving one.
I love it. My rat is a 36 Ford and I took the same approach! Too much fun!
Cool! I like it. Enjoyed the video. Love the shifter.
I love all the videos from /big muscle but this one was special!
this thing is one of the most perfect hotrods ever built, it truly is an epic ride. thankyou for sharing this !
I like it! Fun ride! Cool build without a doubt!
dusty doughnuts with open velocity stacks ...real smart
+3E Was thinking the same thing. But how cheap and easy it would be to swap in a new one. I would say fuck it too.
To swap and build a new motor after the sandy dust eats the valves, cylinder walls and piston rings? On a scale of putting gas in the tank and doing a custom built motor it would probably be closer to the latter.
+Benedocta OR it wasn't me behind the wheel...
+3E *
I have them. Do you?
Never yet has Big Muscle failed to make me grin like an idiot and this ain't no exception ! Thanks for the smiles guys : )
When Mike sparks it up in the very beginning, that's the coolest sound I've heard in along time. Wouldn't own it but would love to drive it.
i find the police either ignore mine or stare at it, but ultimately i haven't received a ticket yet. And hope i never do. Besides. Mine's perfectly legal.
I love bias ply tires, non pwr. drum brakes, manual recirculating ball steering, big blocks, 4 speeds, and 120 avgas. Then you are ready to rock. Don't forget the straight pipes.
You understand
The philosophy of this owner/builder and the car are pure perfection. It is the epitome of what hot rodding is about. Dream car

+WikdSeafood Agree!
It sounds friggin awesome!
Straight non filterd intake and doing doghnuts in the dirt... Darwin award right there.
Thought the same but 302s is inexpensive and common....
it appears so. because I hear you talking gum shoe!
shove the Darwin award up your fucking asshole!
It's undeniable that Mike certainly looks the happiest when driving these rat rods, so it must be true -- they are a LOT cooler to drive than a Ferrari
+HorrorUberAlles They are.
+Drive BigMuscle yeah but a lot of them look like they'd be abysmal to go fast in. personally, I like the feeling of absolute control over a car. as sweet and interesting a lot of rat rods are, I don't think that I would get that in one. plus you have to worry all the time about it snapping in half and murdering you.
you are a fucking pussy senna!
Looks like something you'd find half buried in desert sand on the outskirts of a 1930's dust bowl ghost town...but it has come to life...Thumbs up.
Sick!!! And I'm a Chevy guy!!! Beautiful in it's rawness!!! Wow!!!
muscle cars in general arnt my bag altho the pro touring stuff is cool but this right here gorgeous thanks guys
That Mad Max shit is always my favorite, but the shifter in that thing is by far the coolest part.
Sounds Great! The Ferrari comment reminded me when My teenage daughter was working at Mayo Clinic/Hospital in Scottsdale helping patients in and out of Hospital. A guy in a Ferrari pulls up and my daughter says "nice car", the guy goes "how about if I trade for what you drive?" She said "no way no how!" She does sound sweet...
That's amazing ahah
Maybe she knew that ferrari oil changes are much more expensive. Something like $200 a litre for the correct grade oil for a ferrari.
that is one fine bullshit story!
So cool. I'd tie a board to the roof and have an instant road trip to the coast with this.
Every day!
If I'm offered to ride this thing, I'd step on the gas, stand up, and scream "Witness me!" while doing the Cult of the V8 symbol with my hands.
open velocity stacks, dusty roads, he built it ,he's driving like a bat out of hell & were all watching wth evnvyous thoughts of being in the drivers seat......priceless.
Now that's a really hot rod loved it can't wait until the next episode
Probably the most awesome looking rat rod I've ever seen.
How did that shifter feel?
mad max shit right here
+alex strömberg What a day...WHAT A LOVELY DAY!!
+alex strömberg What a day...WHAT A LOVELY DAY!!
+alex strömberg WITNESS ME BROTHERS
And? I meant the game where you can have a beast of a car
+5252dan pretty sure the interceptor was mechanically injected.
at least in theory for the sake of theatrics
Best thing is that its manual. Great sound, amazing car. I have an goal to have such a car.
I need one of these!
302s sound so good! And this looks better than most Mustangs!
That is some serious Mad Max shit right there.
Where is this it looks awsome there ?
Man, that's one cool car!
holy shit.....beautiful car!!
Is it Euro V compliant?
Wow! Love this beast..😀
where is this road at. looks like a nice place to cruise
how do you like the area Mike?
What is that style of exhaust called? I’m planning on doing the same thing but was hoping to get a little more information other than how they look. I’m sure it’s custom made
Heatin' up the whiskers with those pipes.
That is one cool ride!
Drinking game, every time Musto touches his glasses drink.
What a piece, you should check out the 1960 454 powered jeep truck that's in my backyard
I sure would for a fact. These are real cars. Outside the Rust Look-they're fabulous in every way. I'm thrilled that I live in a country that allows this stuff. Car sounds great guys.
Probably the coolest car that has been on Big Muscle to date.
Like that oldschool dirty sound !!!
got to love it open stacks and donuts in dryed out dirt , no worries man drive it like you stole it.
Were those donuts above sonoma raceway?? lol
Nice 😀 perhaps a small problem in Sweden with all that rain. I wish it was mine
"It's.... not exactly what I'd call a canyon carver, but holy shit if it doesn't keep you on your toes."
I wish a car salesman would talk to me like that hahah!!
1:18 is that a short throw shifter?
I love the driving shots on Pt. Reyes Petaluma Rd. I would cruise home that way from a day of surfing, or getting a sack of oysters.
Is this still for sale?
Better than most cars on road today.
Awesome!

The Magnum Opus!
Haha, this looks like something out of mad max.
good vid bud, like the car but agree with with comments about stacks , however still a reel good vid.
Cool ride!
7:08 "There are no mirrors" - clearly shows a mirror and a few seconds later you can actually see the mirror side of the mirror.

+YensR That was hardly bigger than a half-dollar - it doesn't count.
+lgthrill763 Thanks man, really appreciate it!

Great detective work Sherlock. **sarcastic applause**
+cybertree Thank you, Watson. I am sure you mean this in the same good-humoured, tongue-in-cheek manner in which I meant my comment, right?
looks legit seen better but definitely still badass !!!
Everything except the no windshield part is great.
I thought Hilborne mechanical injection was scroll controlled and the restriction (pill)in the return line was the pressure regulator...Ha...Shows how much I know...Pretty cool old unit...

it is just a badass, muscle car.
Outro song name?
thumbs up if you think mike should come to australia and drive some aussie muscle 👍
Make this happen!
Deathtraps are the best. I need one :D
Best sounding rat rod ever.
"A Drive Like No Other" nah, there's a fuckload of these rusty rat-rods out there.
Of course, hot rods of any sort are badass. Thats why i daily drive my old firebird.
Perfect...
Very 👍🏻 nice
There's just something about driving something that nobody else has. Hot rods are all unique.
love it.... it is what it is. I wonder what Henry Ford would say if he could see his cars of today. hope he would be proud like Shelby was of his cars. and it's a Ford engine in a Ford.... wow new concept.... love it
Death trap..
I dig it!
Fookin yeah ,,,,!!! 🤪🤘🏽
2:05 I like the sticker with the definition of fabricator

I live in Petaluma, about 10 minutes from where this was shot
At 9:01 the vehicle shooting the video is on the wrong side of a double yellow. Is the road closed to traffic for this filming?
+Olle Gladso
Yes
que modelo es
I built and raced one very similar to this. Maybe a little safer. haha but it was a blast. Ran 12.6 @ 108 in the 1/4 with an open dif and all season radials. hilarious.
Dope
now that would be my ideal rat rod. accept with a diesel.

+Kneedragon1962 The owner was the one driving, not the reviewer.
bad news Ah, I see. That makes sense, yeah.
1:40 i already gave thumbs up hahaahahahaha
