I owned a 1963 DODGE Polara 500, 426, high rise factory cast iron headers, 3:91 posi, hemi mufflers, factory cutouts, bright red, red/white interior/buckets/ cheater slicks/ bought it in 1966, it had no power steering or brakes, it was a BEAST! Awesome sound. I truly understand what these guys are talking about, I bought a new 69 dodge swinger 340, electric blue, white bumblebee stripe, white vinyl roof/ auto, bench seats, VERY FAST and sounded Awesome also! Needless to say I lost VERY few races! Love MOPARS!
Great video. I was 16 1970, I wanted a Road Runner out of my price range. One of my dad’s employees, married with a first child on the way. 1967 Chev. Chevelle 396/375 Holley pumper, street cam, headmen headers, dana60 378, Hurst 4, all this $1000.00. I wanted the GTX 440 it had air, also out of my price range. No RR or GTX but the Chevelle too was a great muscle car. I loved them all Ford, Mopar, GM the Buick GS 455 was also a beast. Still, love them all.
Great video. It is amazing, that all brothers have a different approach to their respective mopars. I like the GTX, the color is beautiful, it has a history with all the dents and the proportions of the body are stunning.

I understand the whole "old Mopar thing" I had a '68 Barracuda fastback. And, even though it was a bondo bucket with a nearly dead 318, it was my first car and I loved it. I still wish from time to time that I had kept it 30 years later.
Whenever I pop on to CZcams, I feel the urge to watch an episode of Big Muscle. I may not be old enough to own or drive a car, but I adore them. Every video, mike nails it with the emotion and everything that these cars give, I have a 1985 Buick Lesabre collectors edition my father bought years ago, even though it's not worth much, I love it, I always think of the things I would like to do to it, but at the end of the day, I can't get myself to change anything, until recently, when a guy driving high hit me in the quarter panel when I was parked in front of my house, brought me to tears and I repaired it, but the fact I had to repaint the quarter panel and trunk, I now think I'll do some work on it since in my eyes it's been ruined
I bought my 1969 GTX convertible in 1980 for $500 dollars. It was rough but low miles and ran great. I still have the car and know the feeling about how they have grown in value. My kids grew up in the back seat. Neat video and family story thanks.
+matrox My first car was a 1950 Chevy field pickup wit a 235 6-cylinder. I was pretty broke as a kid, so luckily I only paid 100 bucks for it. It was too quiet for my taste, so I installed a coffee can with one end completely cut out. When my high school buddies heard it, they'd ask where I bought it, so I'd show them it was an actual coffee can. Great memories. Now I'm really fortunate to own a 440 68 Roadrunner, a 440 69 Super Bee, a 71 'Cuda pro-street, blown 426 Hemi, and a 72 440 six-pack 72 Roadrunner I picked up a few months ago. Not bragging, just sharing how lucky I am to have had a mechanic dad who taught me a lot about old cars...
Really nice video that showcased the cars as we saw them and heard them pounding the pavement back in the day. I had a 78 440 Dodge Magnum with 67 heads, 727 trans, shift kit, headers, great exhaust, 3.54 posi rear end. The car originally came with a limp ass 400, detuned, lean burn crap. I had to do something to change that. The car was a dream to drive, had factory T-tops, great stereo that I installed myself. Thanks for breaking loose and really showing what a HP car should be.
I'm proud of my son my wife an I have him $5,000 dollars an told him to pick out a vehical an to use that money toward his purchase any thing over that $5,000 was his responseability to pay for on his own .well he bought a 1966 dodge corner with money to spare he is now building that car up to his perfection he is only 17. years old and I am a very proud father ...Go Mopar!!!

I know this is a older video, but I just found it. Love this family. It’s kinda sad these days that when you have a different opinion,people call you names,tell you how stupid you are. I can honestly say I’m not like that. To me,if this would have been the exact same family,but had different year chevelles. I would have loved the video just as much. I myself am partial to the same cars as they are, but in saying that would not turn down any kind of muscle car of that era. Would love to see more videos like this. Great Job.P.S. I like that all these /DRIVE videos (or should I say /BIG MUSCLE) show a genuine love for the cars themselves, as they are. Most other.. uh.. "youtube car shows" seem to be more interested in what you can _do_ with the car, rebuild it, customize it, put high performance parts in it etc etc... Or they admire the builders themselves, the skills of the guys and girls who work on their cars. Nothing wrong with that, but sometimes it seems like we forget that many cars are nice just as they are.
Thank you Mike Musto for always giving honest emotion when you discuss these cars on your show. There are times that I feel like giving up on my big block 70 Cuda, she has been difficult to get right, she has been obstinate. You keep us car guys motivated, not to give up!

Toughest part has been three different shops 1 body shop 2 mechanics, nobody gave me what I paid for or instructed them to build. 100k in build costs and I am so pissed on not having a straight frame still twisted, and that I wanted a driver friendly car I thought I created. This thing is unmanageable... very tough to go into the garage
+Andrew Ippolito I have been to plenty of shops and know first-hand how infuriating it is when they don't do what you ask and then charge you for it. I appreciate how challenging it is to restore a car to its former glory. I hope that you haven't given up on your dream.
I really appreciate the encouragement, the toughest part is my wife who bought me the car is very disappointed in the vendors involved, with the build. The difficulty now is the car has to be dismantled stripped and the body parts removed to have the frame straightened then reassembled. I don't have the money to go through this again, I have to cut my losses and sell it, with full disclosure I have spent over 100k and its an unmanageable car to drive. Nothing worse then the car that moves you breaks your heart!!

so many people saying "you can't drive old cars reliably on a daily basis" I've driven my 55 Dodge 4 door with a 270 hemi pretty hard vertually every day for the last 15 years along with my 354 hemi powered 57 Dodge truck. both have been upgraded with disc brakes and electronic ignition but are otherwise fairly original. as long as you take care of the old cars they'll last forever.... even if you do beat on them a little to hard like I have lol
They're talking out their ass. Im 19 years old, I drove a 64 Impala ss from 17-18 everyday until I had a major accident and totaled it. My new daily is a all original 1969 Impala. No issues, starts every single day with no problems. I put about 300 miles a week on it.
I had a 1965 Dodge Polera with a 383, did a little work, strong resemblance to the later muscle cars. kind of a sleeper. And of course I wish I still had it...

I was watching this video which I had seen before but this time I saw it a little differently. I had six older brother at one time but now I only have two left and one of them is dieing of cancer. I pretty much have been a car guy my whole life. Just about all of my other brothers except for one were car guys but they were all a few years older than me. I just remember them owning a lot of cars some were muscle cars and some were just great big hurge cars. But anyway I was watching this video about the three brothers and how close they were and I did not get to experience that with my brothers because they were older than me. I love the 68 to 72 Gtx/RR and 68 to 71 chargers but the 69 barracuda fastback and 71 Cuda/challenger drive a hard bargain. I'm not partial to any brand as many had great style and qualities. I had a 72 gran torino coupe, built 429 C6, ladder bar 373 gear 325/50/15 tires. Added 6 point cage to it and it was sweet. Owned for 20 years. I'm currently involved with a 58 belair sedan big block/700r4. I even have a 92 eagle talon turbo. Totally different driving experience. All to he appreciated for what they offered. I think the value of certain classics is outrageous unless it's like this GTX rare.

I don't think a 60s-70s era plymouth car is worth more than it's original sticker price... those cars were nice to look at and even to floor... but honestly as cars they were terrible to live with and very difficult to maintain and keep tune... but that doesn't mean they wouldn't make good weekend warriors...
I also love the 70 Roadrunner, one of my absolute favorites (actually prefer the GTX but basically the same car). My other favorite Mopars are the 71 Charger and 71 Demon. I like them cause they're obscure and still obtainable. Everyone gets hung up on the 68-70 Chargers, and they're great, but those 71s never get any love and they're drop dead gorgeous. Also love the Demon cause even a lot of muscle car guys will look at it and go "it's a what?" haha, I love that. I love the obscure ones like the Demon, 442, GSX, even the Torino is pretty obscure these days. Everyone's so obsessed with Mustangs nobody stops to look at the other Fords and the Torinos are really sweet
Grandfather past it on to me, dad was more a Chevy guy but liked mopars to, I took after grandfather. tried in vein to pass the torch and now he regrets my try. he has had several car's f/d and all sucked. I tried teaching him mechanic's but another regret he claims today. 650mi separates us so, to late now. My friend's always liked and cloned roadrunners, I didn't. I always liked the gtx best because of papa, he didn't like flashy fast, he liked sleeper fast and so do I. I like rowing gears and black. But I wouldn't change a thing on this canvas. Good to see a Mopar or no car family.
In 1970 at 17 you could get a HEMI V8, now at 17 it's banger hatchbacks......

My uncle had a 1969 RoadRunner,... 383 Magnum, 4 speed manual back then. I was 12 years old then. That was the car that started it all for me.

I was watching this video which I had seen before but this time I saw it a little differently. I had six older brother at one time but now I only have two left and one of them is dieing of cancer. I pretty much have been a car guy my whole life. Just about all of my other brothers except for one were car guys but they were all a few years older than me. I just remember them owning a lot of cars some were muscle cars and some were just great big hurge cars. But anyway I was watching this video about the three brothers and how close they were and I did not get to experience that with my brothers because they were older than me. I miss them all so very much every day.I just wish I could have experienced talking about car with them.Love Eddie Love you Jimmy Love you Johnny Love you Tommy miss you guys and think of you every day. I love the 68 to 72 Gtx/RR and 68 to 71 chargers but the 69 barracuda fastback and 71 Cuda/challenger drive a hard bargain. I'm not partial to any brand as many had great style and qualities. I had a 72 gran torino coupe, built 429 C6, ladder bar 373 gear 325/50/15 tires. Added 6 point cage to it and it was sweet. Owned for 20 years. I'm currently involved with a 58 belair sedan big block/700r4. I even have a 92 eagle talon turbo. Totally different driving experience. All to he appreciated for what they offered. I think the value of certain classics is outrageous unless it's like this GTX rare.
1970 roadrunner is the best looking chrysler of all time in my opinion.

jeadelmann90 yea 71 cuda is impossible to get, but i think i have a slight chance of owning a 70 roadrunner in my lifetime.
H Mack Yep... honestly... I don't think a 60s-70s era plymouth car is worth more than it's original sticker price... those cars were nice to look at and even to floor... but honestly as cars they were terrible to live with and very difficult to maintain and keep tune... but that doesn't mean they wouldn't make good weekend warriors...
I also love the 70 Roadrunner, one of my absolute favorites (actually prefer the GTX but basically the same car). My other favorite Mopars are the 71 Charger and 71 Demon. I like them cause they're obscure and still obtainable. Everyone gets hung up on the 68-70 Chargers, and they're great, but those 71s never get any love and they're drop dead gorgeous. Also love the Demon cause even a lot of muscle car guys will look at it and go "it's a what?" haha, I love that. I love the obscure ones like the Demon, 442, GSX, even the Torino is pretty obscure these days. Everyone's so obsessed with Mustangs nobody stops to look at the other Fords and the Torinos are really sweet

I am frankly stunned that Musto did not use the word "patina" once in this video. This must be an imposter.
Grandfather past it on to me, dad was more a Chevy guy but liked mopars to, I took after grandfather. tried in vein to pass the torch and now he regrets my try. he has had several car's f/d and all sucked. I tried teaching him mechanic's but another regret he claims today. 650mi separates us so, to late now. My friend's always liked and cloned roadrunners, I didn't. I always liked the gtx best because of papa, he didn't like flashy fast, he liked sleeper fast and so do I. I like rowing gears and black. But I wouldn't change a thing on this canvas. Good to see a Mopar or no car family.
