Huawei Watch 3 Review | Active Model | One Month Later

- Reviewing the Huawei Watch 3 Active model, more affordable than the Pro and Classic with many of the best features, one month after unboxing it. My favourite smartwatch from Huawei in 2021 is still the GT 2 Pro, as the battery life here is much shorter and the app store is still immature. However, give it time and HarmonyOS may be bolstered by a great apps gallery - hopefully to prove a rival to Google and Samsung's One UI OS.
The design of the Huawei Watch 3 is certainly premium, even in this Active version. You've got a crisp and colourful OLED screen with a huge watch face selection and Always On Display support. That Harmony OS UI is easy to get to grips with and similar to older smartwatches like the GT 2 Pro, with all the usual tools. You even get a skin temperature sensor, plus over 100 exercises supported in the fitness tracking.

Thanks Chris... Comprehensive as always. I went with the active model that came with the earbuds 4i, plus I picked up a second hockey Puck charger from amazon to use in work. As long as it looks good and tracks my work outs and has a battery saving mode I'm happy. Will give an update in a few weeks regarding my thoughts on it.

I got the Huawei watch 3 for just £149 in Argos. It's been brilliant. Lasted 5 days on a full charge. Coming from Apple phone and watch this is a treat and the UI is beautiful. Thoroughly enjoying my watch.
Most people are claiming that it only last for two days. Do you think it might be related to software optimisation? Because if you're getting five day battery life that's excellent.
@@brainactivity737 tbh, I have everything turned on, and have it updated to its latest software. I haven’t changed any settings so it shouldn’t be any different from what others are getting. And I’d consider myself a heavy user as messages and emails are constantly coming in from work

Chris, brilliant review and love the humour in delivery ;) Chris, are you still using the Huawei 3 and if so, have you tried Stocard for NFC payment in the UK or, any other NFC payments (Curve?). I'm deliberating between this and the Ticwatch Pro 3 though the display looks better on the Watch 3 and better water protection oh and a compass which the Ticwatch doesn't have ... any more. Please keep the reviews coming :)

Great watch but I had to send my pro version back because it can only be set up form independent calling over Vodafone which I don’t have. I would have like to have kept it as the build quality was very good and the interface seemed pretty easy to use.
Thanks for doing this video! I was almost sold until you mentioned the battery life😱!! Are you still experiencing battery issues? I had the gt2 titanium, but the screen came away from bezel recently! So am in the market for a replacement. Would you still recommend the gt2 pro over the gt3?

I have the original watch GT and it was great except for the annoying charger which I lost 2 times. So I would get this one just for the wireless charging.

Hi, l want to buy myself a huawei watch but l am not sure if i should buy gt2 pro or watch 3. I see that gt 2 pro has a significantly longer battery life but then l dont know what i'll be missing compare to watch 3 feature wise.

How is the heart rate accuracy? Had the GT2e and had to return it as the heart rate tracking was way way off. Half dead doing functional training, and then heart rate was showing 60 bpm

Fairly sure it's a titanium strap on the Watch 3 Pro Elite. Although it should be gold or silver, being the only difference between the Watch 3 Pro Elite and the Watch 3 Pro Classic!

Yeah, good idea. Yeah it's crazy I couldn't believe the prices on the new smartwatches in the lineup when I saw them I think one of them went up to 600-700 pounds in the UK. Which is crazy considering the Galaxy Watch 4 could be priced at 350 Euros.
Cool. I hate the obsolescence culture of smart watches. My gt2 pro, still looks good as new, and the battery is phenomenal. Gt3 looks like a step backwards. Good. Save my readies for a bit yet :)
@@raymondrichardson6061 Oh okay great you're lucky same here with my Galaxy Watch Active 2. Which I frustratingly have to charge every day. Yeah same it can be very annoying when brands talk a step backwards with a design or battery life when us customers are expecting more.

You have to remember this is a device that is going to evolve and change over time. Many features will come later and it can get features added via update the older watches don't have this. It's a very different class of smartwatch
Sleep tracking was bang-on for me, like on the minute accurate. So as long as you don't just look at the ceiling in the bed awake it should work as expected
Actually that does not work either. Sleep tracking is pretty accurate.

@@vladdx I think that's how they track it. It only fails on very short naps (like 5-10 minutes)
I bought the Classic version and yes its a beautiful watch but its not wowing me, its lacking the essential apps and seems quite barren, also the battery life is not stellar am lucky if am getting 2 days and that's at a push which is disappointing ill be returning mine and will wait to see what the new Samsung and Apple watch 7 offers.
if I had to pick between Fossil Gen 5 and Samsung Active 2 - Which would be the better choice? I do care about workouts as well apart from smart features. So confused.

Thanks for that. Will be hanging onto my GT2 Pro then, need the longer battery life for when out in the wilds for prolonged periods. If the GT3 does'nt improve I will have to look at other outdoor watch brands like suunto or garmin I guess.
Garmin are the way to go for sports and outdoor use. That's their focus. They don't do a lot else, but they do that incredibly well.
Huawei watch 3 ( 46 inches edition ) also has a long battery life as gt 2 pro
Huawei has lost the plot with this one. Premium price but poor functionality.
I do wish Huawei would dig out the first watch and update that with improved tech. That would be a watch to pay a premium for.
Looking forward to the video where you "show off" what the voice assistant on this watch can do. A guess-and-check sort of effort. Every time she says she doesn't understand, you take a drink.

Not sure what Huawei were thinking with their pricing strategy, it's as if they're trying to claw back some cash after underpricing the GT Pro 2 given the build and materials used there. Or they may think a high price will separate this watch from the ruthlessly competitive budget segment.
The Watch 3 Pro is worth it.
Too bad, not even in the new model, Huawei didn't bring a basic feature: reply to a bloody message. :((( How hard is this?

Yes, now days on gt3 you can have predefined reply messages.
At first, I also had huge problems with battery life lasting around 2 days, even after receiving the first Harmony update. The next day I fully charged the watch and overnight it completely ran out of battery and turned off after maybe 16-18 hours, which was crazy. But since then, it consumes around 10% per day which is much better than the official 3 days battery life, when not using one of the tracking features, but using eSim, WLAN, notifications. My biggest problem is the very slow charging speed. It takes a few hours to fully charge it and as I'm using sleep tracking, I don't want to charge it overnight.

I am a gt 2 pro owner from 1 year and I am telling that the never buy again a Huawei watch. Build quality is great and and the hardware also it's beautiful. But trash support. You don't even have a calendar or simple wicgeeds like that. It's not like a smart watch it's simply like a watch who have alarm and different faces that's all....
