    Hey my Fellow Follicle Frontiersmen! In this video, I explain the problems with using the hair fiber pump applicators. These problems are not only limited to Toppik, but essentially any hair fiber product.
    I've used this pump spray on numerous occasions trying to get it to work, and it just doesn't. Do yourself a favor; save your money and don't buy it.

    The best way I apply is to use a small make up brush, dip the brush lightly into the fibers and gently brush them where tehy are needed. You waste less fibers and you can apply them exactly where you want them to be, brush sizes vary depending on area to be covered.

    I think it probably depends on the length of your hair. The pump is probably better if the hair is a few inches long and you want to thicken it up down at the roots.

      Yep I tried the tap-pull method with a bit more hair on my head and it turned out very clunky and rough. The applicator is a lot more effective for me. If I decide to go short as the uploader, I definitely will try the tap-pull method again. For now, the pump is good for me.

      @@sam9239 Turns out, Febron brand color match is perfect for me. Looking at more reviews, users recommend the pump for long hair. I kept my sample container. I'm going to use the pump on the tester and see what kind of pick up I get. If too heavy, I'll try different fill levels on full size bottle. Worse case, I make a mess. I felt like I used a lot sprinkling them. Stay tuned...

    If you have your type of hair, that works. Hair or a different texture you can’t touch the scalp. That’s a good hack tho. But the old one I found online which was used to be the one Toppik sold is the best. A. It’s metal. B. The only negative is the jar is glass C. The jar can break, but at least the applicator doesn’t. I just buy a back up or keep Toppik one which is good for a larger areas. You can stick a safety pin or a nail in the applicator to unclog it because obviously, once you get it wet, it’s done.

    I have long hair and I think your idea would work. I have age related thinning. I wear my hair long, my problem areas are sides and back. My first fiber try was a sample I sprinkle out. I don't have a clue what went where. I think your method keeping the tap and rub the same direction as a part might work. With long hair, the hair has to be parted, makes sense to rub in the direction the hair is falling. Standing vertical it could be from crown to nape. I noticed your application didn't scoot more than 2 inches. If I sit, putting my head close to my knees, I could make a center part from crown to nape, then part hair from the center towards ear. This may be the better choice because your tap and rubs should cover the estimated area in 2-3 taps. The other thing I would try is narrowing the cap head where the fibers come out. The round head is too wide to work within a parted area. Using paper tape I could narrow it down so the fibers come out of a strip to avoid over spreading. I have a question. You mention an oil product? I have baby fine very light blonde hair. I can't use oil on my scalp. I do use a gel moisturizer, but it's not waterproof. You didn't explain your dilemma with the binding products? It may interest you to know there is such a thing as setting spray for make up wherein make up won't budge without soap & water. Is that what you're trying to do?

    • @keratinbrotherhood
      @keratinbrotherhood  Před 5 lety +3

      Hi Von, I'm not a dermatologist, so don't take my advice as professional medical advice. But my understanding is finasteride blocks your testosterone from being converted into DHT. DHT is the hormone responsible for shrinking your hair follicles, leading to 'thinning hair'. Once DHT is under control, the hair follicles that haven't died due to prolonged miniaturization begin to slowly restore themselves to normal size. The process takes time (months to year), but that's essentially what is happening.

    Hi Dj , my name is Doug , i love your you tube videos there outstanding and very informative. I have question maybe you can help me answer. I bought Toppik hair fibers through the amazon site and they sent me a bottle of it . At first it works great but after a few applications the fibers stop coming out of the top or very little comes out . So I sent it back after about a week and amazon sent me another one same thing happens . Our these just defective bottles? Or I’m I doing something wrong . I also ordered bodify and the same thing happens. It doesn’t make any sense . Has this ever happened to you before? Hope to hear back from you soon ! Thanks brother.

    • @keratinbrotherhood
      @keratinbrotherhood  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Doug, welcome to the brotherhood!
      I know the issue you’re referring to. If you look at the top of your Toppik bottle, you see the sieve where the fibers come out. Those holes can become clogged due to humidity, oil, or just fibers. You have two options: 1) take a boar bristle brush and tap the bristles through the holes to unclog them, or 2) twist off the siege and clean it. It’s not too hard to twist off, but make sure you have a firm grip on the bottle otherwise you’ll risk dropping the bottle (and the fibers) on the floor.
      Hope that helps! Let me know how it goes.

      Yes, if you have sparse hair like I did at that time, having too much oil on your scalp will cause the fibers to clump up. Blow drying it removes some of the oil’s stickiness, making it easier to apply the fibers. If you have more hair in that area (like I do now), you won’t need to blow dry. I don’t blow dry anymore.
      I posted an update video recently if you are interested.

      You mean the ones with the bulb attached by a hose that the barbers use? No, I haven’t used one of those, but I’ve seen they do a better job at evenly dispersing the fibers. But they are near impossible to use by oneself, especially on the back of your head.

      Ebitruf, thanks for commenting, brother.
      You're right; my way of applying hair fibers isn't idea for everyone. There is always more than one way to skin a cat!
