The History of Black History Month

  • In this week’s video we are talking about the history of Black History Month in Canada. Black History Month was created by Carter G. Woodson in the U.S. but has been celebrated in Canada since 1976. It was officially recognized as an official celebration in 1995 when the Hon. Jean Augustine introduced the proposal to parliament.
