- The second episode in the clay forming series addresses making complex shapes with 3d pen without the use of found objects or support tools. The sculpting technique will allow for subtle customization of concave and convex shapes and plane changes, resulting in forms conforming to your design. Applicable to any small project whether it is a doll, puppet, cartoon or video game character or animal models. Great information for artists, STEM teachers, art teachers, homeschooling parents, crafters, and all 3D pen enthusiasts.

Thank you!
Brilliant! Very creative and great explanation. Enjoy watching your skillful work
Glad you enjoy the videos. Making more as we speak.
When you were initially outlining the form all I could think was "Spider-Bear, Spider-Bear, lines help you fill in here and there" 😊
Very appropriate thoughts given the visuals. :)
THANKS YOU
You are welcome. :)
So cute!! I’d would rather have black dots for eyes it looks a little bit creepy with those ones lol
That's the beauty of the 3d pens- you can have whatever you like. I made some bears with just black eyes, some with eyes inserted inside of the head, and some with eyelids. It's so much fun to play with all the different expressions.
Why do you smooth the fill? And how smooth does it need to be?
The smoother you can get it the less work you will have to do smoothing with melt tool and sanding. You need the surface to be even before you apply the top finish, whether it is texture, paint or whatever. It makes sense to try smooth it while it is hot out of the pen to save remelting it later. You don't get completely out of having to remelt it but every little bit helps.
what is that rubber tip tool?
It's a sculpting tool called a clay shaper. They come in different sizes (this one is #6) and different colors. The black ones are firm for clay. There are also gray ones (medium) and white (soft). Those are more for manipulating paint - like rubber brushes. Dick Blick art supplies carries all those: www.dickblick.com/products/royal-sovereign-clay-shaper-sets/ They are a bit pricey. They have cheaper silicone ones on Amazon: amzn.to/44Tstxj I haven't tried those. There are also blue silicone ones that are a part of this sculpting tool set: amzn.to/3Tw70VJ - but those started falling appart real quick. The tips started to fall out of the handles in matter of days. You get what you pay for with those.
Silicone shaper tools are awesome! I sculpt in all sorts of different mediums and they are by far my most versatile and favorite tools
Hello, I'm glad to see your interesting video. Thanks to you, I gained confidence in using a 3d pen. If you don't mind, may I ask what is the material of the transparent plate you used?
I am glad you find the videos useful. The surface I work on is plexiglass sprayed with matt acrylic coating. Details are in this video: "Best work surface for 3d pen" czcams.com/video/QP7YsXWvb8M/video.html Good luck.
@@3DPENDEN Thank you for the video that contains your many concerns and attempts.
