Welcome to my 3D Pen Den.
My name is Hana Gorman. I am a mixed media artist born in the Czech Republic, now living in the US.
I got my first 3D pen for Christmas in 2016. My first session was a disaster. I only came back to give it a second try because of some tutorials I got from a handful of 3D pen artists on CZcams. Since my second 3D pen session, I have not looked back.
Over the next three years I discovered a few things which I would like to share on this channel to pay it forward and inspire a few new 3D pen enthusiasts who might be starting today.

Can I use this method to straighten my pla (1.75mm) filament, because in its curled up shape its not that comfortable to use (space issue)
Sure you can. Just make sure you don't stretch it ( ie. don't change the diameter of it) just straighten it. Good luck
I'm truly impressed by the accessible yet precise approach demonstrated! It challenges my perception of the 3D artist as a supernatural being, revealing instead someone who has honed their skills through 10,000 hours of super precise spatial drawing. Many of these tricks stem from engineering and solid craftsmanship.
Wow, thank you! Yea, I must confess I do a lot of it.
Ich liebe diese Videos Einfach perfekt Mein großes Vorbild.

I did a similar task a few days ago when I tried to make an enclosure for a tool. Nice to see that I had a roughly correct idea for the task. Thank you for a thorough guide how to do this with good examples, a very nice channel for learning how to use a 3d pen.
Good to know you arrived at similar conclusions. It means we are on the right track. It takes a while and a community effort to figure out what all this new tool can do for us.

Thank you, i love it. Hello from Ungarn, i am from Germany.
Hello there! I love how international the 3d pen community is. I am from Czechia originally. Now in USA. Glad you liked the video.
I cant wait to try a project like this. The potential speed increse in filling is someting I really want to test and could be a huge time saver.
Yea. I think this clayforming technique has a huge potential for both building and filling. Here is a part 2 with more tips on it if you haven't seen it yet: Clay forming 2 - How to make a teddy bear with 3d pen czcams.com/video/wpxpTm1hwSo/video.html also here is the lizard from start to finish: How to make a lizard with 3d pen and a can of Play-Doh czcams.com/video/lTph85uMX7Y/video.html Don't get tempted to use oil based clay though. It sculpts way better then Play doh but melts with the heat of the plastic and makes a huge mess. Good luck
Merci pour ce superbe tuto , un Bonjour de France
Merci beaucoup. :)
Hello, how are you? Say, can I use the 3D pen to Make/add details on a plastic model?
Absolutely. Just make sure the model and what you load into your pen are the same kind of plastic. A lot of plastics don't stick to each other. Like ABS and PLA for instance. Good luck.
I love your handiwork. Nice teaching amd gifted voice. ❤❤❤
Wow, thank you

Thanks.
Im pretty good at drawing but I have become much more empathetic to my printer when it makes mistakes since purchasing a 3d pen... You make it look easy.
If you are good at drawing you probably remember it took a while to get that way. So it's same with this thing. I was totally lost at the beginning. It improves with practice. :)
Please show me how to make the base, it turns out very nicely
I have been meaning to do a longer video on the marbling. I will try to get to it as soon as I get through this platonic solids series. Stay tuned.

Nice technique there Hana, I'd like to ask, is that a baking sheet when you ironing the plastic ?
Teflon sheets. Can't live without them. Here is the link: amzn.to/3H3yMRs They are sold for baking, ironing and heat transfers. Nothing works as good as these for PLA ironing and baking. The only thing that prevents pitting on the underside of the pieces. (Most of the time.) :)

Thank you for your videos! I am having trouble locating non-coated teflon sheets. Do you have a link you can share? I have ironed with parchment paper but do not get an even finish and have some “bubbles.” I’m hoping the teflon will solve that problem but I cannot find them.

Hi , im into making models from wood . Im most interested in 3D pens to make long thin continuous strips - like miniature pipework . Most surfaces would be smooth or with a light painted undercoat . Would it stick ? Can the finished item be painted over ? Thanks . From 🇬🇧
Filament won't stick to raw wood but it will stick if the wood is primed or painted. It can be painted over but depending on the type of paint I would prime it first. And if anything falls of just glue it back on. Good luck with your projects.

When you were making the cardboard contraption I heard you refer to "valley" and "mountain" folds. I only ever heard of this distinction in origami tutorials. Do you practice origami? And if so do you have any tips on how to cover an origami model in 3d pen filament without ruining it? Loved the video. Hope to see some of those "Christmasy" creations you showed at the end
I have done my share of origami. I never tried to cover it with filament though. I think it would most likely ruin it. The filament sticks to some types of paper so much it is hard to get it off without tearing it. It could perhaps work if you didn't take the paper out. I did cover some non-origami paper models and just left the paper inside it.
