Thanks for watching! 😃
I can’t believe I’m this excited for the bathroom remodel of a complete stranger.
I am here for the journey 😀
Get your popcorn and soda ... Enjoy the show 🥳.
Same here
Me too! ☺️
Seeing those ceiling tiles come down was so oddly satisfying 😁
This will be epic! Thanks for bringing us along for the renovation journey. It’s satisfying to see hard work pay off. 👍
I was watching your videos and was inspired to add "get a larger/better vent fan for master bathroom" to my list of home projects my wife and I are going to have done over the next year or two.
Wonderful goal 🥳🎆🎇.
Episode 1 of an #epic bathroom remodel series
😁😊🇯🇲🇯🇲
Woo! Finally this project is starting!!! 👏🏼👏🏼 can’t wait!!!
Very exciting!
Yes!! I check for videos every day. 🎉
Great start!!
I did my own bathroom renovation, ceiling, wall lining, tiling, plumbing, painting in a single bathroom house. It took me weeks, (retired woman) I live in the country so washed in a bucket and in the river and used an outdoor toilet. I will never take my bathroom for granted again. I love soaking in the tub after a day in the garden.
So glad I found your channel, first time homeowner of a major fixer up here in NH & I’ve been living with a gross bathroom for 6 months, unsure of how to proceed while still needing to use it. Thank you for the inspiration! I appreciate your commitment to do things right and you’re exceptional at narrating how & why you’ve chosen to do something a certain way.
Bought a house with my wife 3 years ago and have been very nervous to remodel anything myself. Hope to watch this and learn something after watching your remodel time lapse!
WayCool!!!!
Thank you for your project info!
Husband asks how I know Lol!
Slowly but surely getting it sorted. Can't wait for next video. Take care!!
So excited for this project!
I'm here to take notes 📝
Nice work, as always.
Super excited to seeing the process and the end result.
This is exciting! I'm going to learn so much! Loved your laugh when you revealed what was behind the pictures. Too funny.
Great video as usual fixer!! You are doing a very good job on this new project!!
Great..can't wait for rest.
Love these videos. Keep em coming.
Haaaaa. My house is 120 years old. Any remodel I do has problems galore plus some very weird building materials. I makes me scratch my head about who did the work in the first place. I'm excited for you! Good luck- I look forward to your completion!
Awesome info thanks! I appreciate how you didn't just go at it with a sledge like they do on TV.
So gald to be watching this. Cant wait till the next video. You give me impression and ideas to work on my house. Thank you sir, be safe and happy holidays.
how EXCITING!
My husband and I are going to finish our garage into a bed and bathroom...
Easy going. Little by little. I am learning only and not trying 😌 💯
I can't wait to see all working series of new bathroom👍👍🤩
I know I’m going to enjoy this series. Same scenario here. Ceiling leaking (stopped after I had a new roof installed) same type of ceiling….. mine is complicated by the fact that there is about a 3/4” dip between my main floor and the bathroom so the br floor needs to be elevated.
Can’t wait to the rest of the makeover. I live in a house that was built in the 80’s, so I to need to redo two bathrooms that I have in my home. My issue in one is that I need to change the knob, it’s an old style, the style that you pull the knob to turn on and move a lever if you will behind it left or right to control the water temp. In the last 3-4 years we’ve had to replace the inside temp control parts, which are hard to find and when we are lucky the don’t last that long. So I know I have to I know I have to replace the pipes in order to change it. The other bathroom I just noticed that there’s some water leaking in the pipes somewhere inside the walls, so I know I’m going to have to replace probably the pipes to and walls, because I’m sure they are probably molded because I don’t know how long this has been going on. So please if your replacing anything in your pipes or fixtures it will help me out if your very specific of every steps, and in what order is best to do them. I would really appreciate it.🙏🏼
Wow! Nice work ethic. You are so patient. Looks good. A lot of work and a lot of information, notes. Looking forward to the next.
There is a lot of thinking and planning to anything. Love watching remodels.
just because of this condition in which your bathroom is I am grateful for the way houses and apartments are built in my state. the structures are concrete like all load-bearing walls, ceilings and floors, the partition walls are mostly brick or thick siporex. Can't wait your next steps and new videos 👍😄
Thanks for bringing us along for the renovation journey.
I winced when you opened that nightmare under the moulding and that bad leak.. eccchhh. Surprised for sure.
If you plan on reworking the outer wall, you could position the door closer to the wall and have a better nook for the toilet. Mover light switch to the other side.
Watching this I get lost in my dreams of building my own house!
Really impressed by your handy work. New follower here. First time watching you do a project from the beginning. I binge watched your other remodels already.
Thank you for sharing your talent.
Thanks for watching, Elisabeth!
Now that your bathroom is done, I’m back here to binge watch! Great job.
Looking good so far. Can't wait for the next installment. I lived through an apartment reno and I quickly learned things never go as you've planned when it comes to renovations. Buildings are always full of surprises 🤣🤣
The Fixer 👍
It's interesting how much people loved those square ceiling tiles in the '50s and '60s. Pulled out tons of them hiding cracked plaster or that were used to make a "dated" too high ceiling lower or perhaps save on heat. I've always found them stapled to furring strips nailed or screwed into old plaster or fastened to a dropped frame of 2x4's. Your's looks different, they put he drywall up, didn't tape or mud it but just glued the tiles right to the drywall! Lol. Seems like more work to me or they just decided taping and mudding was too much work.
You’re very thorough, I like that quality in a person!
I love watching your videos!
Looking forward to the next episode 😁👍
Have you consider replacing that wall between the shower/bath and the toilet? Perhaps a nice ceiling to floor piece of frosted glass or regular glass would look great. It would make the whole room brighter and appear larger.
You should do a pocket door or sliding barn door. It would save so much space.
Just in time for this. I started ripping out my master bath this week to redo.
Love seeing this step by step. Nice work.
Me personally I'd move the door further from the toilet switch the swing of the door so the hinges were on the other side then move the switches. Personal opinion
Awesome job! keep up the great work
Good stuff. I like how you walk us through your thought process. Cheers!
Yay!!!!!
This is refreshing 😍
Happy New Year Sir!!! Best wishes for your family and everyone... I'm so excited for this new project, and trying to watch every single ad without skipping... let me bring my cup of coffee to enjoy your great work. 👏👏👏
American houses seem kinda fun like Lego
👍
Rad can't wait to see. Damn phone is buffering like crazy >.
Thanks for sharing your project. Did you pick out your fixtures (bath/sink/vanity/faucets/toilet/flooring/etc.) before you started??? Was your plumbing ready and updated for you before starting??? I've never done a remodel, and I'm seriously contemplating this. My mother has been nagging me to take care of this for her for a while, now. I recently updated her freshwater plumbing to pex, attaching long ends to existing copper, but ready to pull the pex through with the remodel. I will have to get a plumber to update my cast iron drains to pvc when the time comes; should I do it before or during the remodel??? Eager to watch the successive vids....
If u open the door on the other side..then u have to be in dark room till u can reach light switch.
Unless I move the switch! 😁😉
@@TheFixerHomeRepair if u move the light to other side. Then toilet water may splash. Wouldn't you need a special switch for it. 😀
Ladies and gentlemen, let's get ready to reeeeeeemodel!
If you switch the door, make sure the light switch isn't hidden by the door. I know you have already planned for that. 😊
good
Background music reminds me of the Skype ringing sound😅
My only thoughts so far, if screw heads are exposed when pulling dry wall its quicker and cleaner to pull the screws with your drill. And if you installed the vent fan you should of known about the drywall in the ceiling from that install. overall good basic video so far for a beginner.
Where are the weekly live events? Really miss those.
how to do you fix a clogged dishwasher and put on a new belt on it?
Good Day Fixer can you please do a kitchen renovation, we have a 3 ft by 8ft kitchen and only 2 people can fit. But we are planning on expanding the kitchen to over the sundeck area space outside which is about an extra 12 ft by 15 ft approximately that we want to incorporate into the house and have an island with a dishwasher with an island sink a microvawe lots of floor to ceiling cupboard space. With plans for open French doors and reinforced glass panels on the extented side.
Excited! Did they put the ceiling up with tar? Just wondering.❤️😁
avoid the door swing/space conundrum and do a pocket door! since you're widening the wall anyways
6:29 holy crap that’s the first time I’ve ever heard your accent lol
😂 funny how people don’t even realize they have an accent til someone mentions it.
@@TheFixerHomeRepair right? I didn’t know I had one until I visited New Hampshire when I was 17 lol ( I’m from Ga)
Didn’t find a video on refinishing the tub in the playlist link...
Let us know how you handled that black mold. Be safe.
I hope this project comes out as nice as your hoping for.
I also hope you have another bathroom to use while this one is being remolded 🤭🚻
This is our only bathroom. 😩 That is why I am being so careful taking it apart!
I hope you and your family are staying at a friend's or relatives house in the meantime.
Please pardon my ignorance if this question comes across as any bit disrespectful to your trade. Your work is really impeccable. Like I’m amazed. I watched your entire time lapse bathroom remodel (Instant subscriber!) and then I came to this video to start at the beginning of the series. I’m in the process of trying to buy a home and I looked at one today that has two bathrooms that definitely have to be remodeled. I thought maybe I could replace the tiles or something LOL I had absolutely no idea how much work went into something like this. So to my question. Roughly speaking, if I were to hire a contractor to do an outstanding, thorough job like you did, do you have any idea how much that would cost from start to finish? I know that’s probably hard to answer because nothing is apples to apples, but I have absolutely no idea. I’m in the Austin Texas area. Again so sorry if that is not an appropriate question to ask in this forum. Thank you very much.
Would a pocket door work?
What did you use to paint the bathtub without it chipping water proof paint please help ?
Could you put a pocket door in?
This may be a silly question but does it NEED to be a vent fan in the bathroom in Mass. when there is a window in the bathroom?? Most places don't require vent fans in bathrooms with windows.
Hey Kay! I am honestly not sure if it is required by code but I always like to have a fan. The moisture from a shower can do some damage over time.
Great build! What were the dimensions of your bathroom if you don’t mind answering
Is this a one story home?
Are you in the New England area
What did I cost complete
Mr.Fixer if you going to flip the door what about a motion sensor for the light and fan?
You don’t want a motion sensor light for a bathroom. If you have to spend time just sitting on the toilet you don’t want to do it in the dark.
@@Suz9006 Intermatic is adjustable. They are a company that specializes in motion detection.
I would have you fix our bathroom
Personally I would deal with the roof issue that caused the ceiling leak before anything else.
Hey, Susan! Yeah I had the roof replaced a few years back. Should be all set now. Everything is dry so far. Thanks for checking out the video and for the comment!
yikes on that wire for the switches!!!! -U10
Yeah, glad I didn't try screwing anything in that spot haha. Thanks for checking out the video!
What state are you located?
Wear a respirator when dealing with that old Sheetrock/mud. That old stuff has some nasty shit inside both the board and mud even if there’s no asbestos. You’d be surprised how many types of mud from 80s/before test positive for asbestos. I used to do rebuilds for liberty mutual and other insurance companies after floods/fires etc.... most through Serve Pro and Puroclean . They are required to test it all, and so much comes back positive you’d never expect. Even old vinyl flooring or the glue they use on the flooring. It’s absolutely crazy that people knew how bad it was and still imported so much asbestos made materials up until early 80s. Even without the asbestos a respirator and glasses are something you should use whenever you’re creating dust/demoing.
Wearing PPE is annoying- I will admit it but having a chunk of plaster stuck in your eyeball is worse. That dust is horrible to breath in with or without asbestos.
💪👍
Why does he want to go from 2x3 to 2x4 near the door?
Why didn't you first take down the decor pictures, mirror and shower curtain down before starting demo?
Hey, Ann! Great question. The reason for that is this is our only bathroom and it needs to remain functional. I am doing all I can to get the work done while not putting us out of a bathroom. Thanks for the question and for checking out the video!
@@TheFixerHomeRepair Makes sense. I have just one bathroom and contractor wants to add a second one before he rehabs the original. He scared me off.
🤙🏾🤗
Where are you from
How many bathrooms do you have?
Hey Leo... this is it! So I need to be careful with the steps I take. For sure don't want to be out a bathroom for days.
@@TheFixerHomeRepair I'm the same and am currently having my bathroom renovated but I moved out for the duration! Hopefully I'll be going back this weekend 🙂
Looking forward to the rest of this series 👍
🙋🙋
Are you a contractor?
I commented before but why don't you have the door open to the hallway? The bathroom is super tiny, having the door swing into the bathroom limits the space even more. I would know because my bathroom is even smaller. Not that I am able to do any of the things you're doing. I just love to interfere. Also be more careful with your fingers please.
thanks great video have fun
