Hashtag United are a one-of-a-kind football and esports club, based in Essex, England. Formed in 2016 by Spencer Owen as a group of mates playing exhibition games, we now play in the 7th tier of English football, the Isthmian League North. We won our league in our first season in non-league football and were looking good for a second promotion when the 2019/20 season was voided, but after the 2020/21 season went the same way with us top of the Essex Senior League, we were eventually awarded promotion based on PPG over the two part seasons. In 2023 we won the Isthmian League North and will now play in the Isthmian Premier!
We merged with AFC Basildon Women in summer 2020 and formed our women's team, Hashtag United FC Women, who play in the 3rd tier of women's football, the FA Women's National League Southern Premier Division, after they also won their league in 2023. We also now have 40+ youth teams, reserve and development teams, an inclusive team and a walking football team...plus our esports team who play FIFA at the world's highest level. How many crosses do we need to throw into the box before we realise that the goals aren’t coming from headers and crosses
That’s one thing that really bugs me. These guys just throw crosses in the box and hope for the best. It’s just not compatible style of play but the management just don’t wanna make the change for some reason
Week after week it looks like its the only thing the boys think they can do when in reality a lot of the recent goals have been coming from more direct plays. Just get tired of watching it like its Fifa10 or something, try something else lads jesus.
Seeing the new lad quit on that play when he wanted the call caused Dev to about jump out of the stadium lol
I cannot explain how frustrating it is to watch Greg Halford play. He walks around like he owns the place. His passes and effort is lazy. He gives away so many goals, loses men, half arsed tackles. Experience is a good thing, but when that experience becomes arrogance it’s a problem. He acts like he’s too good for this level.
I know the decision is done and there's nothing to be done about it now, but I simply do not understand how Lew Watson could not fit into this team. He plays with so much heart and is always in the mix. Three of my favorite Tags all moved on; Ricky Evans, JWL, and now Lew. I know it's part of the game, just difficult sometimes.

The sad part of these fa trophy results is that this is a tournament the tags can go deep in. It’s genuinely possible. PK leaves his heart and soul on the pitch every game. Consistently an unsung hero
What can I say, as much as the Keeper made some good saves, and it was a clear handball, we looked shockingly bad. Greg was looking extremelly lazy, which is unlike him, and realistically they looked miles better than us (they came with a solid plan). Still, need to focus on the league now, we are the only ones that can help ourselves, gotta give that 110% effort that I know we are capable of! Up the Tags! #💛💙

This team isn’t as good as last years unfortunately. Losing some really key players hurt us and it seems the same edge isn’t there. Hope we can pick it up and find some form in the league now.

It is a higher league so the opponents are better may not be the team is worse - I know this was a cup game however and we looked poor in this too

I think the thing with Cornish is that he's a luxury player but the team isn't good enough to be able to accommodate someone like that completely effectively yet

I was at that game! Disappointing result but we did play well. We definitely had more opportunities, but we just could find an opening and we put the ball far too close to the keeper far too often. South Park were just more clinical than we were, unfortunately. Good luck to them for the next round and the rest of the season.
Special mention for their keeper Danny Bracken too. Not only did he have a solid game and made some good saves, he was also a top bloke too! Us Hashtag fans were trying to wind him up a bit all game but he was a proper good sport and was chatting and bantering with us throughout the whole match. We actually had a right laugh with him! We all ended up liking him by the end of the match and we all shook his hand after the final whistle, which doesn't often happen with opposition goalies lol.
We should try and sign him up if the opportunity ever presents itself! He'd fit right in!
Anyway, on to Whitehawk. That's basically a local game for me so I'll see you there again! Up the Tags!

For us, we really got bad omen of this competition lol, we create chances but we lack in final third of finishing them off. Let’s refocus to the league, league cup and Essex Cup! 👊

I find it so weird commentators keep giving the opposition keepers props for saves when 90% of the shots they face are straight at em lol.
Even when losing is not my favorite cup of tea, I don't mind the tags going out of the Cups. The focus this year should be to get a solid foothold on the league table, and maybe make a late push for playoff spots. Tags need to keep growing organically, get new signings, and get more and more competitive, as they reach the true competitive (pro) zone of the football pyramid

For baiteze yes, for hashtags I’m not so sure. He doesn’t score much goals to demand his spot in my opinion.
same problem all season. We simply aren't creating clear cut chances and not taking them the few times we do. Every single match we seem to throw our hands up in the air and say "well the keeper was really good!"

I don't think i've heard half of this squad speak let alone have any personality shine through which makes you care a bit less about the football side too. (not saying they don't have personality, just we haven't been exposed to it)

Every shot was at the keeper, no one following in picking up scraps, they had atleast 10 secs to clear the ball every time. PK they need you

Not really getting all this ‘Always against great keepers’ and then getting the man of the match. He made two good saves and the rest were straight at him. Need to stop thinking the world is against us and people try harder coz it’s against Hashtag. Who cares? Play our game, put some rockets up arses. Be clinical! We have been used to being the better team in the leagues. This is season will be the hardest for us. Can’t have heads dropping. Gotta keep the chin up and be positive. UTT!!
Yeah this keeper victim mentality is getting out of hand, week after week it's just 'omg their keeper was incredible, saved everything, nothing we could do'. When the reality is that 95% of the balls are straight at them, and the ones that aren't are just to the side of them instead to where they can still easily get to it. Even the shots that got belted over the bar here were still directly in line with their keeper.
Boys really didn't look motivated today, shocking performance really. looked ok goig forward but lacked any real drive and focus without the ball. Anyone else expect a big and loud Devs half time talk or just me? thhought it could've motivated the lads. idk maybe it's just this tournament that's cursed but still very disappointing today. And lastly Teniola > Curd for me, he looked way more deadly when he came on. Anyways more focus on the league now lets put this result behind us and get a win next game and start pushing into the playoff positions. UP THE TAGS

That is a couple of times now Dev's screaming has been pretty harsh on the ears of headphone users. I am in no way an expert, but if at all possible, a little reduction in the volume from the yelling would be appreciated.

I mean their keeper had a fantastic game but cmon... This was a prime example of finishing. We dominated but didn't finish anything while South Park had only couple of chances but finished most of them. Same problem from the start of the season
I watch you every week in the Netherlands and I wonder. Do you play every game on artificial grass? That goes for the women’s team also. Are there no real grass fields anymore?
There are still some grass pitches at lower levels, but a lot of teams these days do tend to opt for artificial pitches as they don't get torn up like a real grass pitch does, and they don't have to spend a fortune maintaining it either.
A lot of these lower league grounds are also often 'community' pitches, or are shared by a couple of teams (like Hashtag sharing a ground with Bowers and Pitsea), so it's not just the one team who'll play there once a week, it might be used multiple times a week by various teams/activities.
A lot of the time it just makes sense to have an artificial pitch. We don't have great weather over here, (especially in winter lol), so by December the pitch would resemble a quagmire and would essentially just be nothing but dirt and mud lol

You boys are talking about their keeper like he did something incredible when in reality basically all of them were super routine saves that you'd absolutely expect him to make. Boys were just putting absolutely everything directly at the keeper today and making him look good when the reality is the shots were just incredibly poor. Cant be having as many shots as we did from the positions we did and then losing 2-0 to their 2 shots that were just placed properly.
Took these lot for granted and it showed. Lazy all over, no conviction. Need to up the tempo.
