Did anyone else notice that the devs at Apex took out the ability to use legend tokens in the shops, featured items area?
I’m just confused what they expect players who play Apex as their dominant game to do after a small raked or pubs sesh.

1. 100 new badges that Scale in overall difficulty(easy to almost impossible) while possibly incorporating a prestige system. Also adding a major upgrade to their aesthetics .

Deep Rock Galactic is the only one who seems to be doing the battle pass system correctly. You unlock the items in it by just playing the game. When the season is over, all those items get put into a random crate that anyone can open without paying for it.

something i hate about battlepasses too is that a lot of the challenges aren't just "Playing the game" quite a few of them make you throw the game entirely

This guy poses fortnite as the role model but actually, fortnite used to be notorious for having people do specific things in-game like collect items, go to specific locations (many of these needed google searching to figure out how to do) in order to complete challenges. It’s not like that anymore, but even so, there’s occasionally challenges that make you wear a certain skin or do some random crap.

I remember the Avenger's Game battle passes... plural. Each hero had their own individual battle pass, they really expected you to pay for each character.

Deep Rock Galactic has the best battlepass I've ever seen:
-Completly free, since the games is not.
-Not grindy
-Great rewards
-And best of all, if you don't complete the battlepass when a new season comes around, the items all go to existing loot pools, so there is no fear of missing out.

I think another thing about the Fortnite battle pass that at least used to make it very unique is the missions you do for xp were actually interesting and quick to do. They had you explore different areas of the map and that gave hints about the story or showed you secret areas you didn’t know about. Interacting with the actual world made it feel like there was a point to them. I know not every game can have challenges like that but some games challenges are just so tedious or boring that it feels like a chore to try to complete them
Especially those challenges where u had to find that star in the loading screens those were cool af

A problem with battle passes that I think people don't talk about, is that you can't really finish more than one. If you play multiple games with them, you will miss out on items.

Like 2 months ago I was on a constant grind spree so I could finish the Splatoon 3 catalog and than instantly started grind Fortnite. It was stressful and I'm never doing it again. It's like they expect everyone to only play their game all the time.

@@smudgybard8983 in fortnite my goal is just level 100 and splatoon 3 luckily only goes to level 100 at max. So its not too hard. But people wanting level 200 in fortnite and it definitely gets way harder to finish both probably
well in case of splatoon 3 not finishing a catalog isnt as bad at least as you can get that stuff in the shell-out machine afterwards at least still.

I think one of the reason's Fortnite's battle pass is so good is that upon buying the pass you automatically get your money's worth (even more). You instantly get 2 skins that the game usually prices at around 15-20 dollars each for $9.50. Meanwhile other games have to make you earn the money you spent, which sucks.

I honestly kind of hate ones that give you currency back a bit more from a player-mentality perspective. It doesn't really feel like "oh look, I got this for free" it feels more like "uh, y'know, I want to play this game, but I already paid for the battle pass in Apex Legends, if I don't farm to finish it I won't get my money back and I'll have to pay out the ass for the next one, fine, I guess I'm playing apex today."
People have already mentioned this one but huge shout out to Deep Rock Galactic's season passes. They're free for every player in a game you already paid for, it offers cool new cosmetics mostly relevant to the season's theme, it's formatted as an expanding tree instead of a linear line so you can work towards specific rewards you want, you can progress it faster than normal if you complete extra challenges during missions unique to the season, and best of all, once the season ends, all of the pass' contents are put into the random drop pools for crates and packs you can find during missions. Easily the most consumer-friendly pass I've ever seen, in a co-op game no less, and if you truly wanna spend some money to support the devs, they also launch awesome unique cosmetic DLC each season for only 5-10 dollars. The most sisappointing thing is that progressions systems are now useless or are directly removed from the game which also removes 30% of the fun
I'm glad Splatoon's Catalogs are free, and basically wrap around once completed to give you random freebies so you don't have to spend gold. Still feels a bit grindy, but I'm satisfied by it :3
I love that it gives you something to really work for. In the previous games after leveling up enough that you can buy all the weapons, there's nothing left to level up for besides money that you will have too much of to spend. Splatoon 3 made unlocking the dab feel like an accomplishment, and since you can upgrade gear with money (also Hotlantis) there's always shit to spend money on
@@arikaaa69The shell out machine also helps with giving something to spend money on. Nowhere near as reliable for something new/useful after reaching max level, but it's existence is welcome imo.
Like some people in the comments have already said deep rock galactic has a good battle pass system due to the fact that it is entirely free and you can get any cosmetic items in it after the season due to them being put in crates and other things that can be found on missions

I think the branching paths make the battle passes so much more complicated and harder to use
I think Fall Guys has a really good battle pass system. Gives you enough premium currency to get the next pass, enough kudos to grab some stuff from the shop, and is very easy to complete. It only took me 10 - 15 hours to complete the whole pass and there were like 4 weeks in the season left when I finished it. On top of that Fall Guyd always has some cool colab going on really making the pass worth considering.

Yeah. That Alien skin caight me off guard in a good way with that celebration. Loved it. That first season was really easy to level up with just dailys/weeklys so I was glad they extended it to 200 this time and it's still honestly really easy to level. I'm currently at 155 because I still enjoy the game but I do hope that fix the maps and put them back as the small map pool is make things repetitive or hopefully that map editor will release soon. Can't wait for that.
Another battle pass like that is Fortnite’s, and like another guy said it makes sense since their both owned by Epic.

Sea of Thieves has a really good battle (plunder) pass, it's basically free, except a few cosmetics that will be available in the in-game store later anyway, and you have WAY more time than you need to complete it. Same goes for Deep Rock Galactic, which has it's battlepass completely free and also very easy to finish
The problem I have with sea of thieves is how long it takes to complete anything. Like 3 hours for some loot. What can the loot even get you?? More pirate drip??
@@chaffyrogue9554 I mean the whole point of sea of thieves is to go on long adventures to get commendations and loot. The main reason the loot is valuable is because of the effort required to get it.

The pass is good, but after having a sword as the legend item three times in a row it gets lame. And god forbid I use the ship cosmetics I got, cause they look like they were pulled out of a dumpster. There are a few good things like some pieces from the outfits look nice and sometimes the sails look nice. I’m pretty sure the only battle pass items I have used were the lucky hand cosmetics, and that was seasons ago.
If I were to change it I would take all the titles away, have a theme with the ship cosmetics, and give a legend item that had some exclusive thing attached, like the Wanda spyglass allowing you to see the outfits of the ghosts.
It's crazy how they have an example of the PERFECT Battle Pass, and they choose to not look at it and instead look at the revenue it brings

i do like how fortnite usually has a event roughly every season where u can get a free skin, and have events VERY regularly where u can collect other cosmetics by completely challenges (e.g. backblings, wraps, pickaxes, etc)
Yes Same but I hate the creators that need to say this like it is a nice item and it’s only a spray or something boring. But yes in this you could collected 4 free skins( without cups I earn a skin set from a cup but this is not for everyone so I didn’t include it.)
Probably has been said a bunch of times, but Deep Rock Galactic's battle pass is truly a wonder. Everything is free and available after the season is over, you can even chose in which order you get some cosmetics, and the quality of what you get is honestly very good.

Shatterline should've been in this video. You get a gun skin for almost EVERY gun in the game, get tons of the free currency to upgrade your gear, get loads of crates to earn random camos and unlocks, and earn enough currency to buy the next pass and have some extra leftover
I played Overwatch for 5 years and paid for it full price. This is my number one reason why i'm so disgusted that it was replaced with Ow2's shocking system. I wish they kept the first game around :/
A game called "deep rock galactic" has a great battle pass system tho. But you have to pay for the actual game. By doing some missions you gain BP points and extra points by completing small challenges during your missions. There is no premium track so everything is free to all players. And even if you missed a few items then dont worry because all the things that you missed are going in the normal lootpool of the game. So you can find the cosmetics during your missions. Nothing goes lost. Rock and stone!

Deep Rock Galactic has a really good system in general. 90% of the cosmetics are just playing the game. 5% is from the completely free 100 tier battle pass, and the last 5 is from 5-10 $ Skin DLC's
Edit: The game is 30 bucks, but you get to play as a drunk dwarf committing war crimes in order to steal a planets resources so it's worth

Im actually glad to see Dead by Daylight's BP in the "good BP" category, because it actually is. As you mentioned before, FOMO is like the worst thing imo, because it makes people feel like that they HAVE to buy and complete the BP. In DbD the cosmetics that were in the BP return to the store after a year, so people can have "exclusive" cosmetics for a long time and then people in a future could still buy those cosmetics. The rewards are great, maybe some garbage in the middle, but there are cool skins and re-colors imo.
And it seems that they added some bonus styles in the BP (just like Fortnite), because the BP was always 70 tiers, but now it is up to 85, but those 15 extra tiers are just blue and black recolors of some of the skins in the BP, so it's not something that people will say something negative, it might be like "You can have these cosmetics in a year, don't worry about it. But the people that played and completed the BP should recieve something for their dedication" and personally, I like that.

Fortnite’s pass is by far superior the amount of value u get from the the first 100 tiers is already insane but that extra tiers to earn even more customization options and the secret skin challenge add so much more value
Yeah thats true. Tbh I don't like fortnite anymore it's gone to shit in C1S6 but I loved playing it in S2-5. One thing that fortnite always did good with their Battle Pass is that it felt rewarding. You paid 10€ and got everything just for playing a bit and you could also buy the next BP because you literally get 115% of raw V-Buck value back.
The only thing that made me stop playing fortnite are all those sweaty people and the constant changing of the environment.
I just want to relax and at least have "fair" battles after work and this whole building mechanic put the skill ceiling too high for me and made it unplayable as a casual player.
The other thing that pushed me away was their need to always add something new to the game. You'd Stop playing for 2 weeks and suddenly there are laser cannons, UFOs, planes, etc. And while I know it's cool for some people to Always have something new it isn't for me. I don't want to learn a whole different game every 2-3 months.

8:25 Tbh as stressful Dbd is to play sometimes, I have to argue that it’s my favorite battlepass game. The cosmetics are plentiful and they recently upgraded it so there’s more tiers for those committed to playing while keeping the same cost of the pass. And it gives the currency back?? It’s a very nice battlepass.
AND their version of "filler" rewards on the free track is just a shit ton of the most used currency in the game. I'm glad he gave them a shoutout

When it comes to PAID battlepass I believe that Fortnite is 100% still the king! I decided to get back into the game last season and I used my left over vbucks to buy the battlepass. Since all the seasonal challenges were out at the time I was able to complete it to tier 100 in about 3 days with minimal hours.
I would say dota is King.
If only more games had battlepasses like Deep Rock Galactics preformance pass.

There should be a game where you can buy and earn items, but if you buy it, the item has a big watermark that says "I didn't earn this"
I got into gaming when I was a little kid ( Around 6-7 ) and I remember when games first started getting micro transactions , loot boxes etc.. and even as a kid I hated how shitty they were. The worst part was my classmates who were also into gaming didn’t see how bad they were since they got into gaming a little later than me. I can’t believe shit like this is the industry norm , I guess I shouldn’t have thought that battlepasses would improve things.

The one thing I hate about the apex battlepass is that each set of missions unlock throughout the season. This means I generally just wait till near the end of the season to complete missions in order to ensure I can progress in multiple missions especially if they require a specific legend or gun.
I just started playing recently and after two seasons, this was the plan I made for the next season. Play more Mad Maggie and then wait for the last 2 or 3 weeks to actually work on completing missions for battle pass stuff. I barely play the legends I want because I'm always working on missions and it's just less fun than it should be.
Super Animal Royale lets you keep any battle passes you don't finish and make progress on them at the same time you complete the current one. You can also go back and buy older passes you didn't get (at an additional fee though). This is easily the best approach I've seen to a battle pass. They're also only $5.
I'm a single player gamer, the thought of buying in-game cosmetic is fuckin ludicrous. WHY?
one of my favourite battle passes(if you can really call it that) is the deep roc galactic one. Mostly because everything's free, but also because you get to choose which cosmetics you get. I guess in general I love the progression of drg in its entirety

I haven't played cs:go for a long time, but as i remember, you had sth like battle pass, but without this standard bar, you were getting stars to open standard cs lootboxes, and get skins for weapons/players, which you could save or sell on market. This way you could get money or next battle pass (or not, its not internal currency, its steam wallet), or even profit some, if you were lucky and played a lot. This was really nice

I finished my Overwatch 2 Battle pass yesterday, it was very easy and I didn't focus on any challenges just an hour or two 3-6 times a week and sat down thinking wow this was a pretty decent pass, but then I remembered I had Kiriko unlocked before buying the battle pass so most returning players got to see this as a pretty nice pass since we have her from the jump. All they have to do is take the hero out of the pass, just do that and the pass instantly becomes better but not just that add a few more levels to give us our money back from it (This will also encourage people to buy things from that overpriced shop, so I am a big glad they didn't but at the same time I would've never bought anything since I have every skin I wanted from Overwatch.) , at that point Overwatch's battle pass will be leagues above others. Nowhere near the greatness of Fortnite's pass because that model imo is just perfection, but would be better than Apex's, because I could complain about Apex's pass for hours. I hope that OW2 can have a pass that is good and fix that terrible store because did anyone see those Halloween skins? Sheesh.
I also would love if every battle pass was like Halo's in that you can do a previous one if you'd like to finish or start it, I really think that is a good way for newer players to hop in and gain more and more things. Oh and also do the mini passes that Halo and Apex do during events for free stuff, great system to have for free players.
I fully agree, they should at least change the locked hero stuff. OW always had the best cosmetics and I don’t think the new hero needs to be there to drive people into buying it (especially because the mythic skin is there anyway). I also finished it pretty easily, so I don’t understand that part of macro’s point tbh

I think the way to fix battle passes is making everything earned and if you want a boost then pay for in game currency. I think battle passes have the potential to fully replace the loot boxes.
Personally, I think that unlockable loot boxes will always be better than battle passes, even if they're completely free. I get the problems with having paid loot boxes, but I miss the feeling of not knowing what you're gonna get until you open the box.

If Fortnite decided to actually add old BP items to the Item Shop and eliminate the fear of missing out, that might persuade me to pick the game back up. Not like you wouldn't still get a huge discount by doing the Battle Pass after all...
I miss when Fall guys cost. You can have any skin you want by winning crowns, that makes you really want to play and win. It rewarded your effort.
It’s maybe the fifth video I saw about battlepasses and I’m amazed at how none of them talked about deep rock galactic.
This game have got it right since the start! It’s an incredible game made by à Little team. It has a dedicated player base and is still rocking today. It has a free system for cosmetic in game, a fully fledged free battlepasse and some dlc for pack of skins. You pay for your game but the developers respects your investment and gives you a game with a high customizable character for free and a easy battle pass to complete. If you don’t manage to finish your battlepasse they add all the missing comestic in a free event in game to claim again for you. The dlc feels more like a supporting pack for the developers and you could avoid it completely if you are not interested and still get a lot of freedom on customization.
I highly encourage all of you to check out this game. It has been one of my favorite. It’s been the first time I felt respected by the developers for my time investment in game.

In my opinion, the best example of a good battle pass in a $60 game is the one in Splatoon 3. It is not behind a paywall so after the initial $60, you don't have to pay again (I think it's bullcrap to have microtransactions in a game you've already paid for). It has cool rewards , isn't too long to complete and doesn't have bad and specific missions: you just have to play the game and the first win of every day gives you almost a full level-up. And even if you do miss some rewards, you can get them in a gacha machine which also contains other rewards (while of course having no microtransactions as the gacha system uses the in-game coins you gain just by playing)
For good battle passes Deep rock galatic does a phenomenal job, the pass is free, you get tons of rewards and all of the cosmetics then go into either the store (which you spend in game credits and materials on not money) or loot pods that you can find out on your missions. Another good pass is the for honor pass, you do have to play and it dosent give money back but the stuff in it is worth. Also SirSwag did a video ranking battle passes if you want to check that out

Ow2’s battlepass is so bad it hurt. The skins - apart from the mythic Genji - aren’t even worth it either. It’s especially disappointing after Overwatch 1 had such a consumer friendly monetisation system. Can’t believe we’re actually missing lootboxes now.

Skins will always be subjective, so I wouldn't use that against it. Also, it's not fair to the devs (who don't choose how to monetize their game btw) to expect them to make free stuff for us for nothing in return. Do we not remember where loot boxes took us? 3 years of content drought. We can't have our cake and eat it too.
I forgot about rocket league but it’s system is quite good. I’m a bit into the trading in the game and the items have decent value to them, and I love that I can get past items by trading with players that have them. One of my favourite cars is from an old pass

Honestly, I'm surprised no one mentioned fallout 76. I haven't played much but when the newest battle pass got announced I got really excited and wanted a specific item that was halfway through the pass...I gave up after around 2 weeks of playong every day and completing as many daily challenges as I could. I still got nowhere near unlocking the item I wanted.

Destiny 2's Seasonal Passes are somewhat predatory because they don't give you any Silver (which is the premium currency you need to get it) but at least they give you cool cosmetics and exotic weapons for grinding. And the XP challenges aren't the most tedious (unless it's anything Gambit related)
The difference with D2 is that you're buying the whole season, which includes the season pass, so it's way better value for money overall - there's no way Bungie could afford to give players silver in the pass

You can't really compare Destiny's BP to other battlepasses, as with Destiny the bp is just sort of a thing tacked on to the season. In reality when buying a season in Destiny, it's for whatever content is in it, not the battlepass. Even when playing the game and grinding xp, it's never for the battlepass, it's for the other systems in the game that also use experience to progress.
Splatoon 3 also has a kind of battle pass called catalogues, but you don't have to pay for it and it gives great stuff like money, food and drink tickets and mystery boxes. I bought the game a few weeks late and the first catalogue finishes tomorrow and I got to catalogue level 51 by just playing with friends.
The worst thing about is, giving away 2xp for a game that resets your level. You don’t even get anything for leveling up, not even for the flex of being high level

The only downside I can see with the DBD battle pass is that it takes a lot to finish it (I used to play 10 matches a day and still didn't get to the end lol) and also some challenges being only available for certain characters/perks, which also directly affects the progression speed.
I 100% agree it should be free to play especially since it has a lot of dlc and cosmetics for revenue
(Although having a bunch of new players initially will be frustrating but worth it long term)

That shaggy challenge is the only one I’ve seen that is that hyper-specific, usually based on character classes rather than singular characters. I actually think the multiversus pass is pretty good, although you’re out of luck if you don’t use any of the characters there are skins on the pass for.
The Cycle Frontier has a really awesome battle pass! You get a lot of different cosmetics which are subjective, but anything that directly affects gameplay is in the free pass. Any new weapons, armors, materials, or tokens are all free, also, the battle pass pays for itself by returning more than enough premium currency to by the next battle pass, and you also earn premium currency for free by just playing cycle and upgrading your premium currency generator
i love overwatch 2's gameplay, i think some of the big cosmetics they've released are amazing, but the systems in place aren't respectful of the players' time or money. with their exorbitant prices, they probably have reduced their earnings inadvertently

I used to only play Valorant and when I started playing Apex and wanted to try to buy the BP once, I was surprised most of the stuff like character and gun skins, especially the epic and legendary ones, in the BP were quite more nicer compared to the skins in Valorant's BP, in terms of value, which for me, at least, the values of Valorants BP cosmetics are like rare type cosmetics in Apex.
9:10 something I will say however is that there can sometimes be cosmetics or skins that do give an advantage to people who pay for them. The most common issue being that a skin blends in too much with the background.

Halo Infinite's battle passes themselves have very great value, but it takes way too long to level them up and the seasons are just too long in general. I hope Match XP will fix this.
Something I will say about infinite is their event passes, the are free and are tied to the special gamemode, but the base armor core is ugly, and you need weeks to complete so is a good/bad think

One of the worst Battle Passes I've experienced that wasn't mentioned goes to Fall Guys. You have to play the game in specific ways to hit your daily and weekly quests just to level up at all. The amount of EXP you get just for playing the game is abysmal, even if you're doing well, and it only gets worse if you're playing in a squad and get KOd early on that round. I grinded out the Season 1 pass and became so burnt out on the game I rarely open it anymore.
The best I've seen so far, does have to go to Fortnite. Like, sure there's filler like loading screens and sprays, but you can level it up fairly easily. Most days I'll log in, gain a level or two, then log out. Maybe playing for an hour. You can also level it in basically any mode, if I'm not feeling like BR today, I'll play a few Team Rumbles. Even if I don't finish the pass, it's like 9.50, and I'll usually end up getting my money's worth by the end of the season.
I love VALORANT but I also think that the leveling up system is ridiculously steep. You really have to put in 6 to 8 hours of work on a daily to get the most out of it, EVEN ON UNRANKED, when you’re already committed to other things. I’m glad you made this video because I have been experiencing gamer burnout. There’s so many games out right now that are vying for your attention with passes.
MultiVersus while great is an absolute chore. 12,000 pieces of candy to unlock Calico Cake skin variant when at most you award 40 to 80 pieces of candy after two matches? And this is supposed to be a HALLOWEEN event. On top of that, leveling that battle pass was work when you would only progress 2 to 3 tiers A DAY even after completing some of the daily and seasonal challenges.
Apex Legends is ridiculous as it forces you to play with a legend that you don’t want just to get 10 FREAKING Stars to level up and now they want to add STICKERS as a cosmetic?
Modern Warfare 2’s progression system is problematic for new players because the criteria for doing unlocks is very grindy. Just to reach level 12 to unlock the spy camera that was in beta required 2 to 3 hours of game play. Not to mention you have to level up one gun to the max just to have enough unlocks for another weapon. My cinder hurricane is sitting at a paltry rank 5 after just two hours of game play. I’m looking at a whole roster of weapons that are LOCKED.
Games are no longer being designed for the average player. They are being designed for the player who is going to make gaming a BUSINESS.
I play valorant for like 2 hours max per day and complete the battle pass in a month. All you have to do is do the dailies and weeklies and you'll complete it

Everyone's mentioning Deep Rock Galactic, so here's another one I thing does it well: MC dungeons. The passes are kept in the game and you can pick whichever one you want to be doing at the time, so even if it's starting S3 you can go do S1 instead if you want, and they only have cosmetics which have 0 impact on the game or helpful big currency boosts, while still being bery cheap
As someone who rotates between 4 games with “battle passes,” it’s definitely hard to keep up and play 4 games at the same time.
Edit: Fortnite might be one the most annoying games to play(for me anyways) but it’s battle pass is definitely the best. If anything I feel like it should be a standard for battle passes.

@@Jabbs. because most of these companies budget comes from their share prices, not directly from game sales (which the store/digital distributor takes a decent cut off anyway).
It is true that games today cost more to make then let's say 10 years ago, but 10 years ago, the companies didn't have the net worths they do today.
Regardless, a $60 game purchase is (on average) more profit then a free game with a battlepass. ~90% of free to play players are going to stay free to play no matter the pricing the suits make up. You could make a battlepass $5 and the majority wouldn't buy it. And I highkey doubt a free game can even have 10x the playerbase their paid counterparts had (or 60x, if the paid game is $60, and the BP in the free one is $10).
Knockout City also has the "Street Rank" Pass which is a pass that doesn't expire that gives you tons of cool shit even if you don't pay any money. It's really good.
A BP season is gonna be at least 2 1/2 months and it feels like it's more than enough time depending on the game, especially if you're active and as point out, the quests for extra XP don't have you doing stupid stuff. In some games I play, I'll do dailys and maybe a few extra matches if I have the time or am in the mood like in OW2 and got to tier 80 in about three weeks since I did spend a few hours with friends as well.
I hate when passes don't give you enough currency. OW2 lowered the team kill weekly to 10 because 20 was definitely a ridiculous amount so it's more doable but it wouldn't surprise me if they do end up adding another 500+ currency to the pass with it being only 80 tiers so you could end up earning the next without being forced to do all the weeklys.
Genshin's nice because besides a small number of premium exclusive stuff, the paid path just gives you more of what you already get in the free tier to help with progression.
i feel like destiny 2 has a really nice battle pass system, because one of the seasonal exotic weapons is included in the free pass, it grants some cool cosmetics and the overarching story can be played if you own the pass.

Yeah. It doesnt do cosmetics at its core. It gives things that directly affect your game and you can use. Other than there being no way to get silver for free, its a solid pass

I really feel like an outsider here for saying this, but one of the battlepasses that I really enjoyed was the League of Legends one. Recently, they changed their event pass system to a battlepass system and I think it's for the better. The pass was I think 6 weeks long, with a set of 5-10 missions each two weeks when a new patch arrived (a total of three sets: the first and the last had 10 missions, the second had 5), a repeating mission which offered you XP just by playing and a third mission which offered you XP if you completed all three sets of missions. The missions gave you two options: do a task (get takedowns, obtain CC points, earn gold, play as/with/against champion X, etc) or just play and obtain points (on Summoner's Rift, ARAM or the event gamemode you would obtain 4 points per minute, or 6 point per minute if you won the match), you would need to obtain 200-350 points to complete the missions if you go with the second option. The rewards were decent if you didn't want to buy the pass: 400 tokens, one orb, blue essence, an eternals capsule and an icon, however, the pass locked ones are packed: 2100 tokens, 6 orbs, 2 grab bags, 2 masterwork chests, mythic essence, orange essence, blue essence, emotes, 2 icons, 4 eternals, an XP boost for your account and a ward skin exclusive to the event. (also the rewards combine with the pass). I finished the pass yesterday and I bought it and I have to say: I was impressed. It gives you more things than it did in the past, so I'm happy
I like how ubisoft heard the feedback of the community of r6s and slowly improved the battle pass making for a lot of good cosmetics that tells a specific story of the lore and the alpha pack system as well.
My biggest gripe of the battle pass is that you can’t complete it after the season ends. I always find myself grinding the battle pass rather than just enjoying the game, and I felt like I was bonded to a certain game until I finished the pass. I wish that most games would allow you to grind the pass after the season ends, so that way you get everything out of the pass that you paid for

My biggest problem is that the yearly release games like COD and sports games still feature a battle pass and itemshop. With fortnite, it was a new unique game and was one of the first games to go free to play, so I have no problem with that. I also like battlepasses on old games that keep people playing so the game doesn’t die, like R6 Siege and Rocket League (I still prefer lootboxes over item shop on Rocket League). What I hate the most is elite franchises like Halo and Ovewatch which had the perfect system but they were greedy for money.
I found out that ‘conan exiles’ a SURVIVAL GAME added a battle pas and it blew my mind that it has zero value
The grind for the Valorant bp isn't that bad, you can get the Melee (Lvl 50) with just doing the dailies and weeklies. Yes, the weeklies can be tedious depending on what the challenges are, but the dailies require less than an hour per day. Some you can finish in 1 Replication/Spike rush (10min). The biggest problem are the rewards imo.
No it is bad when you don’t play everyday, 3 hours, be good and win games. It is super long and the cosmetic are bull….
You forgot to mention Fortnite also lets you to choose which reward you want to get with the Battle Stars so you can focus on taking the V-Bucks from the pass first or the skin you want (if you are in the tier-range for it)

The best battle pass I've ever seen is splatoon's 3 catalog system. 1st is free, 2nd you get cool cosmetics and also useful stuff, 3rd it completes fast, 4th they give you more catalogs if you completed one already, 5th you don't have to do ridiculous challenges because they don't exist and 6th it levels up no matter what online mode you play. I cannot wait for the new catalog in next season!
The good battlepasses are the ones which incentivise you to *_play and enjoy the game,_* than to make further purchases *_out of your on volition and enjoyment of the game_* - the bad battlepasses either are *_just lackluster and filled with meaningless fluff_* and/or try to *_directly steer you into making more purchases for the sake of it_*

The DBD (dead by daylight) battle pass is great because you can level up by playing your way, or level up faster by doing certain things, which aren’t extremely specific normally and you get to chose them. Along with that the free pass actually has good cosmetics and for holiday events they have many ways to get free things, and also they separate dlc from battle pass. It’s a great pass for a great game
a lot of challenges are dumb though. remember during the anniversary where one of the challenges was to get hit while vaulting? and what about the basement hooking ones?
another thing about fortnite is by finishing your battlepass as a default you get a total of 300V-bucks so by 4 seasons you cant get every single battle pass FOR FREE
Used to keep buying back Apex battle passes, then got burnt out and decided to quit Apex a day right after buying a new BP. Then a few months later when Arenas came out, I returned to Apex to occasionally play Arenas and a little bit of BR.
