Yes the screw ones are prone to more issues, but usually its because the tire shop skips replacing the rubber seal during tire replacement. Discount tire will use a "TPMS Rebuild Kit" that will replace all the rubber/metal washers and nut with brand new ones. Some metal tpms sensors will even have replaceable stems, but not all. Usually as long as the rubber seal is new and the nut is torqued correctly, they will hold up just fine. Love the build. Makes me miss my old 2000 Tahoe
It's actually easier than that. No tools required at all. Once you get the parking break and cycle the headlights until the horn blows. Simply release the parking brake start up the car and drive off. The car will automatically detect the air pressure and set all four of the symptoms for you while you're driving. Worst case scenario is that it will not detect your sensors. And you will not get a check tire pressure message.
Ty matt, you're a life saver!. This worked like a charm!. How did you even discover this!. Thank you so much really!.
I owned my 2005 Silverado 2500 duramax for about 5 years and it always had aftermarket wheels and no TPMS with it, also never said service TPMS either. I got a new ECM swapped into it about a year ago, and shortly after I got new tires put on it, and without knowing they put in TPMS in with the new tires. After a while the message started to come up which really threw me off, so I am excited to give this a try and see if it actually works on my truck!
Did it work for you
Always dreaded having to do this. I read that the process is time sensitive. If you take too long on a tire, you have to start over. You made it look simple.
Great common sense video, thank you! You don’t waste time talking about stuff that doesn’t matter. BTW, this worked for my ‘04 Escalade the same but I couldn’t get hit into program mode until I remembered to set the parking brake. 👍
Almost like you knew I needed this. Thank you
Ikr me too.
Thanks, thanks alot LsxMatt! Just got this car with this annoying light on.
Hey Matt, thanks for the vids great content. Is this the same process for a new body style (2018) suburban? I bought after market rims and tires and need to program the new sensors. Thanks!
Great my 04 suburban worked perfect 👌
Good demonstration thanks for the info✌
What find irritating about tpms are unequal readings from each wheel even after you use a known good gauge to set tire pressure. I’ve bled air completely out of the tires and started over. Setting air pressure by gauge and they still don’t match.
This helps also if you get your tires rotation done and thy don't fix tire positions
i just reprogrammed all my tires sensors..very easy procedure
thanks very much
First I've watched a lot of your videos. I have a 04 yukon and wanted to know if you knew where I could find some door panels that were in very good shape or where I can get some new? I'm in New Orleans and everywhere I've looked they were either in worse shape than my are in or nothing at all.
Matt Thank you thank you thank thank you. I live in a rural area. No streetlights or business lights at night. That stupid light on the dash is really annoying and bright while driving after sundown.
LsxMatt, Thank you for the info, this sensor programming will work on a 2007 chevy tahoe LTZ?
Years later but thanks it still help me bro
I have a 2011 that has a bad sensor that I need to replace so I will do all 4 as well does this process work on a 2011 LT Tahoe ?
Mine triggers the light of I run the tires at less than 40 psi, is there a way to set it lower so I can drive with 35psi without the light coming on ?
Nice can it be done on a Silverado Z71 06???
you can test trigger the sensor with an air compressor
I need the sensors you didnt used gor my yukon 2007
Are you ever going to lift the tahiti
Thanks man, I just purchased a 04 and my tpm light is on, I’m going to try this in the am 🫡
Do you have a link for the video where you replaced it?
Mine has newer yukon rims and rubber valve stems. Weird... no light or service tpms. All sensors work
Hi thank you for the video
Do you have one for a 2020 gmc sierra
Can this work on a 2008 GMC envoy
Can I have the sensors you didn’t use I have a 2007 Chevy Tahoe that needs them btw love your videos
Ok I have a question, If 1 tire made the horn sound off , Do that mean I have to replace the other 3? My passage tire sounded the horn when I let the air out.
Good job. Thank you for sharing 😎👍
Hi, does it work in 2008 GMC Envoy
Any chance u will sell me the sensors tht didnt fit i have an 07 gmc sierra 5.3 clean
Thank for the video, can you tell me what year is you suv?
Worked on my 05 yukon. THX
How would I tell if my truck has TPMS monitor.
I have an 03 just as you but I notice some differences.
ie steering wheel controls, driver seat adjustments
Btw awesome Tahoe playlist. I have many of the same issues and similar miles. Much help.
Don't quote me, but I don't think yours has tpms. I think that came with the slight refresh.
Thank you brother. You saved me $150
1. Driving along and everything inside the car goes dead but the 2005 Tahoe keeps driving.
2. I make a hard left turn, and everything comes back on but then dies out again.
3. One day the starter would turn over but wouldn't start. Sometimes it wouldn't even turn over. Everything inside is dead.
4. Remembering the left turn deal, I put the key in the on position, everything still dead and won't start, I opened the door, grabbed the edge of the roof and started rocking the truck. The interior lit right up, and the radio came on and I was able to start it.
5. The problem would resurface.
Do you think it could be a security motion detector that is acting up? I have a blank key that will start the truck. Did the previous owner bypass the passkey system?
Thank my 2006 suburban z71 loves you..got mine's from Amazon.👍👍👍👍👍👍
Clicked like before watching vid...
Can I put the sensors. In aftermarket rims?
Hello. I can't activate the TPMS learning mode by turning the lights 3 times etc. My emergency hand brake doesn't work so so you think this might be the problem?
I have an 2006 suburban would you know the right model number on that model
My horn never beeped on my '05 tahoe. Don't know why. Did everything right. Yet the pressure reset on the dash when i let the air out. Just had new tires put on 2 weeks ago didn't get new TPMS cause honestly they're useless I check pressure manually anyway but my service tire monitor is on which is throwing the check engine light so I wanna reset it. Any help would be great thnx
Hi Matt. You think it works on Cadillac Escalade Hybrid 2013? Thnks. Peter, Slovakia
Thanks I’m bout to do mine myself.
I took off the passenger side switch off a 06 s suburban with the lettering W/TPM
I want to put in on my 05 Silverado which I connected the switch and it showed on my dash service sensors would purchasing these sensors work? I would think they do if right correct me if I’m missing something
Will that work for a 2014 yukon
Brooooooo. You’re amazing. Thank you
Can I use on any whells 22s 24s??
I'm stuck with message on DIC but no dummy light on. fuse somewhere? 05' avalanche
Does that work on a 2010 tahoe?
How do you reset a 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe LS TPMS
You're the best 🌹
What brand did you go with? And any issues after 4 years now?
Tahiti lookin clean! Just needs an exhaust
I just did it it works thank u
What happens if I have a 2005 Tahoe but I put a set of 2021 take off wheels and tires on? They have the 2021 sensors. I was able to get into program mode but the horn would not sound while letting air out
The 2021 sensors use a different frequency and will not work with an 05, you need to get sensors for an 05 Tahoe.
So is this what you want to do after a tire rotation as well? My mechanic tried telling me I need the factory fob in order to relearn the tires, and clearly in your video that’s not the case.
I was told the same thing.
Do you have a video for the oil pressure gauge going up and down? The sensor goes from low to high even after a change? Thanks
@MonsterChoon did you change the filter screen when you changed the sensor, if not it could be clogged giving a false reading
Change the oil sensor before dealing with the o ring in the pick up tube. It's a complex job.
Regards
Does this work on a GMC 2004 Denali?
Thank you ,that helps alot .
Works perfect thank you
Like really bro does it work for yukon 2014
Hey man thanks for the info I got tpms and couldn't figure out how-to program them. I was wondering do you know how to fix the airbag sensor my airbag light just came on and won't turn off any info would help didn't want to go the dealership route?
Yea same my airbag light is on in my 05 suburban
No idea why it is on. You will have to do some diagnostics and replace the part that failed. Be careful driving. I've heard horror stories of people driving over bumps in GM vehicles with the srs light on and the airbags going off.
So what does it mean when one tire doesn't make the horn honk? Even if you lower the pressure almost all the way
Buena pregunta.
I just did it in my 04 Suburban and everything worked. I just dont know what button you hit to show the tire pressure. So which button is it?
It's on your steering wheel controls
3:40 its a good thing you were not swapping a transmission, you might drop that ?
You see what i did there
Do you ever have any problems with the transmission? I have an 01 tahoe and it starts but when drive is engaged it doesnt go, not always. Sometimes it works and then will just stop working. Along with other gears as well. When it stops working it all stops working. Fluid is good, no leaks. Just need help. Thank you
Try putting it in 1 or 2 and after you get enough speed put it in drive. my transmission is messed up on my 04 but I drive it once in awhile but that's how I have to drive it when I do
Could be a bad torque converter. If no gears work, that indicates not enough fluid pressure.
Do you have to do the key and lights for every wheel?
No, once in relearn mode the computer will continue looking for the next sensor in the program order until it either times out or sees all the sensors. If you turn the key it will stop the relearn and you will have to start over.
Nice thank you 🙏
When you go threw the truck does it tell you the tire pressures?
No I think certain years did but mine doesn’t.
I just tried this and the front left tire I got a honk, but nothing for the front right tire. Took it down to 22 psi for a minute and still nothing. Any ideas?
move faster
Do you remember the part # of the sensors? I needed to replace mine, on a 2004 suburban
Hi Fred, check on Rock Auto. The have good prices.
Regards
Being you rebuilt Tahiti's trans, would you ever think about taking a viewer's transmission as a side job?
Thank you
Awesome!!!
I was really hoping you'd show the TPMS readout... I have the literal exact same tahoe, and was curious how functional its TPMS system is... if it's the type to actually show you PSI per tire, on screen, then I'd do it. If it's just gonna say "hey, one of your four tires are iffy bro, check em"... then I'm just gonna leave it be with the rubber stems that have been in it since someone gave up a long while back.
My 05 suburban z71 tell me exact psi in each tire i thought they all did that i didnt know....mine actually says RR is low n psi...when its actually my LF....i wonder if reprogramming them in that order will fix that issue😒
@@CainSample Reprogramming a system like that will fix your issue for sure... and any time you rotate you'll obviously have to do it again. Good to know it is indeed a full system, I thought it was, but I wasn't sure. It's been a while since I've seen one working right. Most folks just toss the sensors when the battery dies, or they get banged up by a careless tire changer.... or a tire changer "mechanic", just loses one not even knowing what it is... or all of them. I have none left at all, but I may just order them now.
Yea i didnt know anything about it until i got the suburban its pretty cool when they work 😂 i have a slow leak n when i pump it up with my "slim pump" with digital guage its within 2 psi of the dash as it climbs 👍
I didn’t think it would tell you the readout in each tire. I have to check that out!
I just clear the message on startup and check my tires regularly. If the sensors were indeed $30, I would replace them, but I have an 04 suburban. I'm not going to spend a hundred dollars on a convenience item.
I might get myself a 2004 Chevrolet Subaru Z71 that is the same color as Tahiti the Tahoe
My horn doesn't honk when I turn the key to "on" and then turn the light switch 4 time to on, tried over and over, horn just wont honk??? 2006 Suburban 1500 with 98,000 miles. Tire Kingdom screwed them up rotating tires. ANY IDEAS
Hello , did you find the solution? , because i have the same problem and I don’t know what is wrong
.
part #?
i did this but i heard no honk. i was really holding it for a while too... what could it be ?
check your horn
Hi buddy…. How are You???….. my left rear tire didn’t make horn…… What should I do??
Thanks
The sensor is probably bad in that tire.
@@lsXmatt Is ok if I only change that sensor??? or I have to change all 4??
Thanks
My truck did never honk after setting only got one to work
Same here
Thank you!!!! Owe you a cold beer!!!!!
awesome, thank you…
Why are you cutting and editing the time it takes to release the pressure? That is literally THE point of the video, and valuable. I have tried it and nothing happens so I am unsure as to how much pressure needs to be released to actuate the sensor recognition.
Until it honks
On my 2005 Escalade, you turn the lights from Parking light to headlight, not off to parking or headlight as in some instructions. Parking to headlights for my Escalade.
I’ve just been driving mine with the light on 🙁
gonzalez jr same lmao
Seems there's a sweet spot on my Honda. 2 over or under it lights up. It's still going to come on sooner or later. I'm investing in a roll of black electric tape.
There is a little black box that disables these annoying things
Same here but in getting tired of seeing the mssgs, just got the truck
@@michaelmajor5467 care to elaborate about mentioned black box
Will this work on 02 Chevy tahoe?
Yes!
@@lsXmatt thanks
What happens if the tyre doesnt beep?
The sensor in that wheel is bad
thank friend!..
I’m confused a bit, my Tahoe is a 04 LT not z71. I didn’t think tpms came along till 07? I have the same oe new style 18” wheels as yours on mine and didn’t even mess with them thinking it wasn’t even available at that time as I knew my 02 Silverado didn’t have them. It also don’t have any mention of it on the cluster display
Tpms didn’t come in these until 2004, so yea your 02 wouldn’t have it. That being said I’m not sure if it came standard or as an option. If it was an option that would explain why your 04 didn’t have it as well.
I didn’t know our year had tire sensor
I know. Did all of them or was it an extra?
I got new wheels and rims 3 years ago, didn’t place any tpms back in. Suddenly- today my tpms light is on and’check tire pressure’ on my dash. Remember, NO sensors. ????
All this info but no generation or year. Idk if it’s 05 or 07
If anybody doesn’t know what tpms sensors are they mean tire pressure monitor sensors
Why my shit ain’t beep
The message was annoying, I expect broken pressure sensors.
I applied your method and got rid of the annoying message
But the reading for all four sensors is zero
Thank you
