As a Mexican guy I can tell you, “Despacito” had been overplayed in Latin America for 4 or 5 months before it became a hit worldwide, I know you suffer, but we have suffered much more
Fonsi was a "big star" on a New Year Eve's concert here in Poland. Luckily he performed for just a few minutes, although the national television (who organized that concert) kept mentioning "Despasito" weeks before and many weeks after the event.
Aunque te siento, tio. We rarely have reggaeton played on radio ("pumka bumka" - 7:17), which I guess You guys do nor bachatas which have the similar chord progression, but the rhythm of "pim pirimpim, tuuum tuuum" ;) However You don't have "Disco Polo" music style, which is comparable to reggaeon if not more cringy. But speaking of latin music (Colombian this time)... Do you guys recall "La Camisa Negra" by Juanes? I wonder is it just me or it was annoying. I guess partly because I rarely listen to a radio, but 13 years ago I was learning to drive a car and on the station the instructor listened to that song was playing non-stop, for some reason. I hated it, more than "Despasito".
La Camisa Negra was and still is a big hit in Latin America, I first heard it when I was a child and, since I´ve always liked Juanes' music I really like that song, I guess different tastes for different people
Thanks, Hugo, for Your insight. I'm glad it's no longer a hit in Poland ;) I listened to it enough years back. I can't say it's a bad song and I've had to relisten it and think for a while what annoys me in it (other than it sounds a bit cheesy and the chorus starts abruptly and feels to me incoherent with the verses musically). I guess I have the biggest issue with the percussion, bass and some sound effects - super repetitive. I guess Juanes is not for me ("A Dios Le Pido" I have just checked seems to have similar qualities).
Dude I heard it one time when it was sort of new thinking it was ok and then suddenly it had billions of views. That was odd.
I love how every time Steve plays a crappy song on the acoustic he just immediately has to play a shredding lick to wash it off.

The most annoying popular Pop song I have heard is Thunder by Imagine Dragons. It's has the most repetitive lyrics I have ever heard with some annoying chipmunk like vocals. If I hear that song one more time in public I might get a headache. Some of the songs on this list are less repetitive than that song.

When I was maybe 5 and my cousin was about 9 and we would lock ourselves in the bathroom to do dances. I know there is an age gap but we are the oldest kids out of 15 cousins.
