I'm from Finland and lot of people here haven't been willing to join Nato because we've been living in a bubble thinking that there is no need for such defense in the modern world and even if it came to worst that we could defend ourselves. The bubble kind of bursted when we saw what Russia is doing and what they are capable of doing to their neighbors. We're not thinking about Nato's expansion or Putin's fears, we are thinking about our country's integrity and future in the situation that has changed a lot from our perspective.

For NATO, you do not import a running territorial dispute into the alliance. Ukraine already had a dispute with Russia about Crimea. They are supposed to settle that first. Ukraine has had challenges with corruption in the army. NATO can't admit a country that still has unclear accounting procedures in the army, they are supposed to improve that. Influenced by Russia, he enacted more pro Russia policies and wanted Ukraine to remain neutral outside NATO. He was toppled by protesters in 2014. This lady asks the questions it wants to ask and subsequently tries to answer them accordingly, while assuming her questions to be based on the correct assumptions. For example, when she asks the question why Ukraine's application is not as soon and swift (compared to Finland and possibly Sweden) and why EU membership is neither for Ucraine, she basically is insinuating (possible double standards?.) The answer is pretty straight forward (and as an informed reporter should know), read the conditions and mandates for EU (and NATO) membership. That is where you can read the answer. Why did you not ask why Turkey (NATO member) was still denied EU membership. The list of conditions is long, but some are very often cited: Rule of Law (non discriminative) and Corruption. In a nutshell there are economic, social, political and legal frameworks (to name the most important ones) to abode to as a member country. The EU have been critical about these issues vis a vis Poland and Hungary lately..... So, please do your homework because your question can easily be answered by decent research and reporting.

A lot of people already think Turkey should be expelled from NATO because of how radicalized some segments of that society have become and because of how problematic Erdoğan's conduct has been for the West. Personally, I'm against further isolating the Turks, but it will be harder to convince NATO not to do that if he's going to thwart everybody else's will in this area on top of everything else that the West dislikes about his policies and actions.

Finland have a standing army of 280,000 and a reserve of 900,000 who have been highly trained to fight the Russians, and Russia only. In fact, while Ukraine has a much smaller army and had been preparing since 2014, Finland have been preparing for nothing else but this since WW2, so not an opponent Russia would like to anger or poke right now, while being highly stuck in Ukraine.
If what we see from Russia in Ukraine is the best they can deliver now, then they would stand no chance against Finland that has a top modernized army that has been training for this since the last time they faced Russia.
Back then The Red Army had more than 1 million soldiers already deployed on the borders of Finland, before the mobilization, while Finland had just 33,000. The Soviet deployed 2,318 aircraft, including 1,044 fighters and 855 bombers and 395 others for strategic bombing, paratroop insertion, reconnaissance, artillery observation, and so forth.
Finland only had 114 out of date aircrafts, but fortunately, due to diplomatic efforts they were able to secure additional aircrafts assembled in Sweden, 30 from the UK, 30 from France, 29 from South Africa, besides Finland themselves buying 35 Italian Fiat G.50 monoplanes to take down Soviet bombers. The only organized foreign air unit to help out Finland was a Swedish volunteer squadron.
At the end, the Winter War cost Finland 24,923 dead or missing, while the Soviet fatalities numbered 273,000 dead, so more than 10 times more than ill prepared Finland. In fact, the combined Soviet casualties of dead and wounded was a quarter of the 1.2 million Soviet soldiers deployed.
This day and age, the army equipment of Finland is vastly more up to date and modern than that of Ukraine and what they have been receiving from NATO, so it's top NATO standard, and their very large army and reserves are vastly better prepared to face Russia, so if the Russian war machine is doing questionably in Ukraine, they would be totally pulverized in Finland.

We in Finland have our own right to choose where we want to belong. Now it seems that there will be a new iron curtain between Europe and Russia, so we in Finland choose to be on the Western side where we are considered as a true friend in every way, and no threats have ever been made against us unlike Putin's comrades threaten us many times in a year. There are at least one to ten illegal border crossings by plane from Russia, and why? They want to threaten Finland and are being bullies. And the main reason for APPLYING Nato membership, is that Russia is attacking it's neighboring country.
If there's even one nuke used today, there will be hundreds of nukes used. In that case there will be a long lasting nuclear winter which means that the whole Eurasia will be doomed for eternity and actually that could be an end for all mankind because of winds and long lasting never-in-history-seen famine due to that.
