My favorite part is you thinking it looks like an orange convict jump suit and then fearlessly make it in terra cotta orange! And yes here you are with a beautiful jumpsuit

Come on girls, we can’t refuse to make this jumpsuit after such a comprehensive review from Rachel, but just make sure we all don’t descend on Yorkshire this summer wearing it!

**round of applause** I'm the same as you, I got into creating my own wardrobe because I couldn't deal with having a wardrobe so very similar to everyone else, no snobbery, no shade I just wanted to wear what I want to wear, rather than what a small number of fashion designers & professional buyers decide is big on the high street! And I admit, regardless of how much I like a pattern, if the sewing community goes bananas for it, I avoid it like the plague until its died down again! 😊 x

Love this review Rachel. I realise that I prefer line drawings because designers so often choose large and dominant prints to illustrate their instructions and I find it hard to see the details which are so important. I would also like to share a bit of Aussie sunshine with you!

Thanks for this. I love your reviews - you pull no punches but give praise where it’s due, too! Also, thank you for the full back view photo of your Zadie, not many people show the back of their makes and I don’t understand why as the back is just as important as the front...isn’t it?
    I hope you’re having a lovely Sunday.

I remember your thoughts about the Zadie early on (laughs to myself) I wish sometimes pattern designers would explain a little more about why they say X,Y & Z is like this, or this will happen if you skip ect. . . You look lovely in your Zadie & the color of your chose fabric is wonderful. Thanku for sharing. x

Great review Rachel and beautiful jumpsuit! I’m glad you waited too! I say that because I can relate...I don’t like making something everyone’s making at the same time and that’s usually the reason why I do so many hacks! I love the fit of this jumpsuit on you! I’ve not made many jumpsuits myself, maybe two in my lifetime and one was a romper (shorts). But I do like them especially yours in this beautiful color! I had to laugh when you mentioned some looking like the Americans prison jumpsuit!! 😂😂😂 . Great job!

Looks really lovely 😍 I’ve made 2 for myself & 3 for my daughter. I also sized down but I’m short so took out crotch & bodice length. Totally agree on the confusing photos in some pattern instructions too, doesn’t help with busy patterns or fabric that you can’t see if it’s the right side or inside when you’re trying to figure out what they mean. I’d much rather watch a video tutorial.

Hi I love the zadie jumpsuit, your fabric is lovely!
I have just purchased the pattern and am rather a beginner but want to give it a go!
I have ordered some fabric and have traced the pattern onto my tracing paper, but when I look at instructions one of the first steps is to stitch front to rear at the shoulder seam but mine don’t match?, I have checked but one shoulder seam the pattern is straight and the other has a slight curve?
If I try match then the armholes wont match so not sure what I’m doing wrong, maybe it will become apparent when I start?
    Any advice welcome!
    Thank you
    Helen x

Hi Rachel, you were right when you messaged me and said that you thought the size 10 would be good for me rather than the 12. I’m only 5ft 2’, I made up toile and omg I need to shorten the waist to crotch length by at least 2 inches and the leg length, that would still leave a 2 inch crotch drop, the waists on most patterns on me are always to short so like you I will lengthen the bodice by 1inch, I found the trousers so wide on me too and wondered if I should go to an 8, I’m gonna make another toile in the revised size and will let you know how it went! If I can get them to fit like yours does I will be really happy, I tend to like my clothes to fit where they touch, and know you need a little wiggle room in a jump suit! Your review was great and extremely helpful, thank you xx

So it’s been enough time… how does it feel in the summer? (Too hot?). And have you adapted it in other seasons with a top underneath? Also does it show a lot of cleavage if you are sitting and slouching? I am an older not flat chested woman but I don’t like low cut necklines that slim girly ingénue figures can handle.
