      @@nicolagriffiths3077 it can be a bit complicated to understand at first, but it's great once it starts making sense! I run workshops on it locally, but I might speak to the designer to see if she'd be happy with me doing an online one for those a bit further away :)

    Like your zadie jumpsuits, especially the salmon coloured one, you really suit that colour. I've still to make mine. Pattern sitting waiting. Thanks for the tips.

    Interesting video of your Zadie suits. After seeing you wear the Winter Hymn suit, I think that it looks fine on you. The dropped crotch effect is not that noticeable but is something that “Mimi” from “Simplicity’s Mimi Makes patterns” suggests doing in her book, just for comfort and it has been fashionable to have that slight drop crotch…..historical trousers/bloomer/Eastern trousers all have that drop crotch. The first lilac suit you wear, does seem a bit tight in the rear when you model it. It might be just the thin fabric, but there is a ‘vpl’ on rear view which is not seen in the Winter hymn. Just my opinion, but I’d leave the Winter hymn version except maybe adding some pockets.

    That ditsy print dress version is everything! I just adore it. And the rustle you describe brings even more charm and presence to it. I don’t have this pattern but I should have it. Perfect to showcase a variety of cottons, viscose and prints 🥰
    You should do a photo shoot in that dress with your chickens and we can all abandon ourselves to idyllic fantasyland lol x

      @threadandyarn  Před 2 měsíci

      I'd definitely recommend trying the pattern - like you say, you can show off a variety of fabrics, which can make each version feel very different. I'll see if I can get the chickens to behave at some point 😂

    I really enjoyed this video. I've just got the Zadie pattern and am still deliberating on what fabric to use so seeing your Zadie collection has given me good ideas. I'm still a bit bemused that I'm contemplating wearing a jumpsuit but seeing them around everywhere has changed my outlook. So thank you for this.

    I think I have been bitten by the Zadie bug! though its not quite as oversized on the overlap as I had hoped so I won't be wearing mine much longer until after the baby comes now :( (l love the the idea of a M&M linen zadie - esp the winter hymn check- it is one of my favourites- but with the hike in price, I am not sure that is gonna happen now!) (thanks for the mention :) )

    • @threadandyarn
      @threadandyarn  Před 2 měsíci

      Ah yes I meant to mention that - I made one for my Mum and was concerned about that section too. I added some snaps on the inside of the overlap to hold it in place, but there's still not loads of fabric/ease in that area. I do really love that winter hymn fabric. It's a big investment now though!

    Your jumpsuits are all gorgeous, thank you for sharing! I was wondering, can you describe the difference between the Zadie wrap and the Etta wrap dress by Merchant and Mills? Since you made both? I am very interested in trying a Zadie dress but already have the Etta pattern and am unsure, how these two differ, apart from the obviously different sleeve cut, I mean. Thank you!

    Thank you for this, I love this type of videos especially since I haven’t made a zadie yet, i like seeing the various fabric choices etc. Liz from ‘the baker who sews’ made the Indigo, the mystotis and Lyra dress numerous times and she grouped them together too ion her CZcams, which is a wonderful treat to watch. I am all for using a pattern multiple times.. my personal best so far is making BH zero waste cropped shirt four times haha. Would love to see you do a BH no waste gathered dress one too, or all your merchant and mills makes! So I can ooo and ahh at the fabric and patterns❤

    Thanks. A really useful video. I'm interested to know how much fabric you would recommend buying as you only mention how much was not really enough?

    • @threadandyarn
      @threadandyarn  Před 2 měsíci

      I'm glad it was useful ☺️ I think fabric amounts depend on the size you'd like to make, and also the fabric width. You could print the pattern pieces out, lay them on the floor so they're no wider that the fabric you're considering, and measure the length they take up?

    Thank you for your video. The Zadie jumpsuit is clearly very popular. Have you ever had trouble with it gapping in the front below the waist? That has always been a concern for me when considering making this.

    • @threadandyarn
      @threadandyarn  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yes I know what you mean. I haven't, but my Mum was a little worried about that, so I added some mini snaps to the inside when I made a version for her ☺️
