    The skirt looks perfect. Love the pockets and I don’t think it needs anymore fullness.

      Thanks! I think it's just adjusting to it being different to expectations, but I think it's nice and wearable actually ☺️

    I’m totally in love with the trousers you have sewn. So chic and wellfitting! And the brown button is perfect with the vibe of the trews. Love! ❤

    Hello. I have just found your podcast and am really enjoying watching it. I feel we have really similar interests ( I knit, sew and naturally dye) but you seem much more advanced than me which I am taking as inspiration to keep practicing. I also made bloomers as you did in a previous episode. I made mine out of an old lace edged sheet, using the lace on the leg bottoms, so I could keep my legs warm under my nighties in the winter . They work a treat. Very pleased to have found your channel and am set to enjoy your past episodes over the coming weeks. Best wishes, Laura.

      Hey Laura ☺️ I'm so pleased you're enjoying the podcast! Your bloomers sound lovely! I really like the idea of using the lace edging as a design feature. I love meeting people with similar interests on here 🥰

    another lovely podcast, Lorna! I love the skirt, can't wait to see it finished with the buttons :) the M&M trousers fit you so well! I feel like I learned a couple of tricks from your review (like stitch length, taking in at the back and to be mindful about the waist band) so thank you ❤ Also had a little surprise at the end with the mention awww, I am actually knitting on my Rota whilst watching you hahaha I love that

    Your Pegs Trousers came out great! I love pleated trousers but so far I made only one with elasticated waist band (Bisque Trousers by Vivain Shao Chen). I need to finally face the fly😁

      Thank you! I do love an elasticated waistband. I've made the Bisques which are lovely, but I think the Pomona Pants are my ultimate favourite! 😊

    10:15 love the skirt on you! If you want more gathers but don't feel like redoing the waistband or the pockets, you could add a second (and third) layer of skirts to make a tiered gathered skirt. Otherwise you might get away with a rectangular panel in the middle. I think the two seams will be hidden by the gathers. Or you can turn it into a pleated skirt and hide the seams yourself. Anyway, all your projects look great. I can totally relate to the bit you shared about summer clothing too.

    • @threadandyarn
      @threadandyarn  Před 2 měsíci

      Ooh yes, interesting ideas! I think you're right that the seams would be hidden by the pleats, especially because it's a patterned fabric.

    I’m just the same now when the warm weather and sunny days has arrived, the garden and outdoor living takes nearly all my time and I love it! I have done a little bit of sewing in the evening though, a sleeveless summer top in a lovely woven cotton, felt I lacked that. Some loose fitting shorts with an elasticated waist is on the cutting board as well.
    I was thinking about the lovely skirt you made, I think you should make the next one more A-lined, i e increase the width at the hem. That would make it much more full an swishy without adding more gathers. If your fabric is without a oneway pattern you can place the pattern pieces quite ”economical” anyway. Maybe you have to have a seam at the back as well.
    Good luck on the wool festival! And have a nice start of the summer!

      Hello Eva, sorry I missed this! Your summer top sounds lovely. That's an interesting idea about making the skirt A line, thank you for that 😊 I hope your summer is going well!

    Thank you so much for reviewing the Peg Trousers, your's are lovely! I have the pattern and am planning my own pair. I understand how you feel torn between making and gardening this time of year- they are both such creative outlets though. My own making has been sidelined by designing raised beds for our garden this year. I thought I'd share with you something I've enjoyed doing in the way of organizing my making ideas and fabric. Several years ago I started using the Trello app to make boards with cards that I can copy or move around. I have separate boards for fabric, patterns and project plans. Within the boards, they are further organized into Skirts, Dresses, Pants, etc. or for example, Wool, Cottons, Linens for the fabric board. I can then make a new project "Pegs trousers" for instance and copy the pattern's card from the Patterns board and the fabric's card from the Fabric board. Having the yardage amount and any other information I need, it's fun and easy to move the cards around and plan projects! I always know what I have, and sometimes figure out new ways to use something. Anyway, thank you for the lovely review and happy making (and gardening!)

    Thank you for the lovely video ❤
    I practically live in gathered skirts and I use a lot of width for it to be as full as I envision - often I just use the width of a tablecloth (150cm) and make each piece that width (so almost 3 meters in total), which I guess amounts to quadruple my waist?
    I found no issues with it to be honest and it’s not too bulky either! Gathers come out lovely and dense and makes for such a romantic skirt!

    That skirt is lovely but i have the feeling it’s going to be a bit see through? Maybe the liner will give you the fullness you desire and help protect the delicate fabric 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @threadandyarn
      @threadandyarn  Před 2 měsíci

      It is quite lightweight, maybe a lining would work well!

      Hello, thanks so much ☺️ that's the Ripple Crop Top by Jessie Mae. It's a great pattern for hand dyed 4ply! I tend to add length to it so it's not so cropped.

    Very well done! Congratulations!
    Same as with all trousers with this type of construction (highwaist, no elastic band, no elastic in the matherial), they look great as long as you don't ever sit down. Once you've sit down, sadly all the smartness disappears in all the creases in front and baggy butt in the back, in my opinion :( And in addition, if you need to sit for 8-10 hours in the office in such pants, they cut off all blood circulation and are super uncomfortable around the belly. To me, these are no-sit-down pants, for walking around town only, looking pretty freshly ironed :D
