The only live wrestling event I ever attended was a Memphis territory spot show at my grade school in Eastern Ky back in the late 80s. There was a midget tag team match. One was the Little Road Warriors

I think the reason Tom Arnold was there was because at that time TNA was airing on Fox Sports One and Tom Arnold was apart of one of their top rated programs, The Best Damn Sports Show and they wanted to cross promote a prime time special involving TNA and everyone from Best Damn Sports show.

I think at the time, Tom Arnold was on a sports talk show on like FoxSports or maybe syndicated to the local Fox Sports channels. I'm not sure the main Fox Sports existed at the time. I remember Chris Rose and John Salley (NBA) also being on the show but can't remember anyone else. Wasn't TNA syndicated on the FoxSports networks back then as well? So that might explain why he was there.

Going to explain the Tom Arnold thing. TNA at the time was on Fox Sports Net. FSN had a talk show which Tom Arnold was host on. That's how that happened.
