Love your vids! It must take a lot of knowledge, hard work and preparation to make this stuff look easy! Thanks for showing amateur guys like me how it's supposed to be done.
Hey, I've been watching your videos and I love all the work and attention to detail that you do to your trucks. Beautiful trucks! I recently started working on my 66 c10 with plans of a resto/mod just by doing everything myself. Thanks for uploading, I've learned so much!
Just found your videos the other day. I am in the process of restoring my 66 c10. Doing pretty much all the work myself except some rust patching (I don't weld!) The hubby has been doing some teaching with things that I am not familiar with but much I am just watching videos and jumping in and learning!
Not sure if its been said already by someone else but if you're even in a spot where your mig just is not hot enough, give it a preheat of a few hundred degrees with whatever torch, and itll give it that little extra it needs.
Can’t say I’ve ever seen you do anything I disagree with, but one of my favorite things you did on your red truck is how you left the gas cap on the side of the cab for looks. It just belongs there. Preserves the original look and it makes the young’ans ask questions...and you can get young’ans to believe just about anything these days. 😜 “Yeah, son, back in the day, if you were low on fuel, a Boeing KC-135 could fly in and put its refueling nozzle right in there as you were goin’ down the road!”
Love your videos! I sometimes find myself saying “let’s get ta cuttin” when I’m working on my own project 😂 think maybe I’ve watched your content too much 😬
No worries with the tank in the cab. In my 61 I didn't like smelling the fumes. Also it will give you some extra legroom, you can slide the seat back further.
Thanks for the great videos !!! But hey what type and brand of sealant should I be using for the sending unit ? Thanks /appreciate your help . Or if anyone knows
I may be wrong but I always thought that the safest place to have the fuel tank was behind the seat like this some old cars used to have it behind the rear passenger seat over the rear axle also a good place I have a Jeep WJ with the tank at the back not a safe place in my mind as with yours if you put it at the back someone goes into the back of you and it bursts in to flames.
MegaCountach; Yes he is mine is next LOL... That would be nice but have to hit the Michigan Lottery first but that won't happen cuz I don't play LOL... My 63 C10 pick-up is younger than me so if I can make it without a make over a few more year's God Willing so can my old 63 C10 pick-up LOL... Keep On Trucking fellow C10 owner's...
Always enjoy your vedios. I have a 70 C/10 stepside I want to restore. I notice you go about projects in a way that is very easy to follow. What kind of / model welder do you use? I want to get one and don't want to waste money on too much power and don't want to be cheap and not be able to produce good sheet metal welds.
I have a 60 Apache. Do you ever have the issue with the hose clamp on the rubber filler neck hose leaking? I try tightening it but it seems like the hose collects gasoline in the bottom pocket and it makes my truck smell like gas. Can’t figure out how to fix it
Your work is great! Question about your red truck. When you were painting it, how many coats of color & clear did you put on? Did you sand between coats?
Gibson63; You got that right Brother the 63 C10 pick-up is a breeze to work on. Just simple American hand tools and screw drivers and a person can repair an replace everything on these real American Iron Trucks. Nice work as usual... Keep On Trucking Brother...
I'm a bit confused, are you going to use angle iron below the top angle iron connected to the gas tank? I'm always impressed by your detail and look forward to seeing this new tank installed, I hope your buddy kept the old cardboard patterns lol!
I’m curious to know whether any accommodation is needed when installing the auxiliary fuel tank for chassis flexion. Is the custom tank bolted on in such a way to allow for some frame movement, so the tank won’t be flexed? Or maybe this is not a true concern...
Gibson63 Really fun watching! On my rear tank ( which is aluminum). The welds started to crack. I think because of that bottom rail isn’t perfectly flat and frame shift. I just bought a universal strap kit and “ cut it to length “ I think it looks better too. Thanks for sharing your build by the way! Larry
scbnrh; Maybe people shouldn't be smoking in these old truck Cabs unless they want to go to there own BBQ... GM did alot of testing with the strangth of the Cab for side enpacks and it's most likely safer being mounted inside the Cab then being exposed in the open rear area hanging down under the frame making it more dangerous if you have someone rearend you. If the system is sealed up properly you shouldn't have any problems. It's much safer then say riding a motorcycle with a three to five gallon bomb next to your manhood and alot of people have no problem doing that LOL... If you have a leak somewhere "Fix It" otherwise your just making the odds in your favor much higher of going to your own BBQ... Keep On Trucking Brother C10 owner's...
Kenton Groombridge I only welded the bracket the bolts were to hold them in place so I can weld them. then the bolts were removed to later go through the fuel tank brackets
Gibson63 ; Make those memories Brother life is to short and Dad's grow old fast... I know your Dad is going to really enjoy the truck and cruzzing time together with you. Keep On Trucking Brother an Dad...
Gibson63 I’m from Alabama and I’m about to graduate high school I’m probably gonna be moving to Nashville and I have a 66 Chevy k10 that needs restoring would you possibly wanna help me sometime?
Barb Sedo; Come on man look at his work... (He's not some green TV video couch potato) The excellent work speaks for itself and have you seen him cut corners at anytime when repairing or replacing body panels or other parts on the drivetrain or electrical wiring NO... I Haven't !! Some people just want to complain about every little nothing's cuz they have to much time on there hands... Keep On Trucking Brother C10 Owner's...
This guy is the best. He's saved me alot of time and mess ups thanks brotha. Soon my c20 72 will be done
Love this channel. Your craftsmanship is awesome.
Nice clean installation with good forethought for the future. Kinda like framing houses.

You sure been busy! It’s really starting to come together now.
Good thinking for the future tank under bed. The original tank looks good.
That guy did a beautiful job on the red truck tank. I believe the tank is well mounted.
I love seeing the progress you're making on this truck.
Best 12 minutes of my Monday morning...

You do good work !
I enjoy your videos. I'm actually rebuilding a 71 GMC C15 from the ground up.
Not sure if its been said already by someone else but if you're even in a spot where your mig just is not hot enough, give it a preheat of a few hundred degrees with whatever torch, and itll give it that little extra it needs.
Love your videos and your attention to detail. Keep up the good work man!
Loving this build. Keep upi the GREAT work.

Ronster 66 yea leaving the gas cap on the side of my red 63 was the plans from the jump your right they just belong there

Spot on job.
looking good
Awesomeness!
From Toronto Canada. You the man 😎. One question, where in the US are you at? Cheers 🍻
John Zancanaro Tennessee
Nice work. I got a lot of heat for leaving the gas tank behind the seat on our 66. But it’s been fine so far.
MrHevyshevy these old trucks have been going for years with the fuel tank behind the seat I’ll keep it here for a while but I am set up for the rear
No worries with the tank in the cab. In my 61 I didn't like smelling the fumes. Also it will give you some extra legroom, you can slide the seat back further.
Gday from @t have skills galore amazing vids .Is it hard to finance these projects.
Thanks for the great videos !!! But hey what type and brand of sealant should I be using for the sending unit ? Thanks /appreciate your help . Or if anyone knows

Hey Gibson good job I’m still working on my 64 I swear it feels like years of just sanding I bet I got 100 hours in just the Hood
Family Mann Yea man sanding takes awhile if you want it slick
Well, if ya ever quit framin, you could be a welder!! Nice work man!!
Looks good! Are you going to restore another truck after this one. Thanks for all your videos, cheers, Doug

I’m using the Lincoln 135 mig welder with gas

Your work is great! Question about your red truck. When you were painting it, how many coats of color & clear did you put on? Did you sand between coats?
JKImpala66 did not sand between coats, 3 coats of red and 3 coats of clear. then colorsand and buff
You made that look easy...you sure you didn’t work on the Assembly line when they made these?
Wasn’t around in them days but these trucks are pretty simple compared to the ones now days
Gibson63; You got that right Brother the 63 C10 pick-up is a breeze to work on. Just simple American hand tools and screw drivers and a person can repair an replace everything on these real American Iron Trucks. Nice work as usual... Keep On Trucking Brother...

I watched it again I get it. Does your custom tank have a float in it?
Eric Null Yes it has a float, did not keep the pattern so I’ll be making another one
Just wondering if You got any video from you installing the break lines
Xtreme Scratchers No videos on the brake lines
Cool
Hi, What's the part number for the fuel pump, I have a 1968 GMC c10 I am working on.
I’m curious to know whether any accommodation is needed when installing the auxiliary fuel tank for chassis flexion. Is the custom tank bolted on in such a way to allow for some frame movement, so the tank won’t be flexed? Or maybe this is not a true concern...
asmith515151 I guess it’s not a big concern everyone else is moving the tank to the rear of these trucks nowadays
Gibson63 Really fun watching!
On my rear tank ( which is aluminum). The welds started to crack.

Do you have a video on how you routed your fuel lines ?
No video on the fuel line route
Never Understood Why The Engineers Would Put A Gas Bomb,Right Behind Where People Are Smoking.

Is your dad going to keep the tank in the cab for a 2 tank set up?
lifestylemodification The Cab tank will be removed after I install the rear tank, this is just to get me going for the spring
You are definitely meticulous. Curious why you bolted and welded the fuel tank brackets? One or the other would be adequate, and both is overkill.
Kenton Groombridge I only welded the bracket the bolts were to hold them in place so I can weld them. then the bolts were removed to later go through the fuel tank brackets
Is this still your brothers truck? Would you consider selling it?
I bought this truck from my brother I’ll soon give it to my dad will be going to some cruise ins together
Gibson63 ; Make those memories Brother life is to short and Dad's grow old fast... I know your Dad is going to really enjoy the truck and cruzzing time together with you. Keep On Trucking Brother an Dad...

Sil ....as in silicone???
I think he said "sealant".
Barb Sedo I actually used Loctite Black weatherstrip adhesive for the tank gasket
Jeremy Kmieciak hope so...
Gibson63 👍👍
