- In this video, we're getting fueled up with our new Boyd Welding tank for our 2wd squarebody blazer, UBTK5. This was the last piece of the puzzle before we carted the rolling chassis up to Oakboro, NC for the C10 Fall Revival on October 26th. Hope you enjoy!
You can purchase your c10, blazer, f100 or classic truck all-aluminum fuel tank by visting www.boydwelding.com

Love how you are showing people they can do this in there driveway and it looks good
Thanks! Too bad the city is putting a stop to me doing this in my driveway. smh
Maybe it’s been mentioned, but after lining up all the holes, welding the nut to the top of the frame rail would really make removal and installation super easy. Not that there’s a huge need, but for easy access for a gear change would be nice.
Getting closer and closer can't wait to see finish product. Keep the videos coming.
Yes sir!
Cool project ! Can’t wait to see the end result.
Thank you! We're pumped.
Boyd makes really nice tanks. I love mine.
Yes they do!
Just sent you a message
"Tanks" for showing the installation of the tank. The frame looks good laid out.
haha thanks
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS You're welcome
The UBT K-5 is coming together right on time can't wait to see the body on the frame it's gonna be somethin to see!!! Good job on install went right together like was supposed to!!! Just makes it easy to work on later too!!!
No doubt about it!
UBTk5 chassis lookin good. And that Boyd tank has everything you need and looks good doing it.
Yes sir!
Man it's looking nicely good every day..keep the good work guys.
Thank you!
Keep up the Great work, the Chassi and the Components your using look great. That Rim and tire combo is really eye catching.
Thanks!
That frame turned out killer guys looking sick man C.H.E.V.Y 4 life 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!
Another great video 👍👍
Thanks, Shane!
Just got my tank for my 74 In I can’t wait to put it in!
Great work👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks!
Looks really good
Thank you! Boyd knows how to make a killer tank!
A Boyd's tank is definitely on my list. I have champagne taste on a beer budget lol. Looking good.
Haha i understand that.
Doing the same tank on a build. For future reference try Krylon 7513 it works super well satin black one application when you're painting your frame and suspension parts great job you're doing
Yup, typically what I always use, but I didn't realize how completely out of it I was until day-of. Had to make do with Auto Zone rustoleum.
John is a beast
No doubt
Nice tank upgrade
Thank you!
I mounted my tank on upper side of the lower frame rail. I figured the tank is then setting on the frame rather than hanging by the bolts.
Yep, I considered that when installing on Teddy, but decided it would be too high, so we're going the same route on the k5. Have you checked the clearance on yours with it on the top side? It's also easier to drop from the bottom should I need to.
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS It most definitely will be easier to drop hanging off the bottom of the frame rail. Have you considered welding the bolt heads to the frame on the top side. It appears it will be a pain to get a wrench inside the frame rails to remove the bolts if you ever need to drop the tank with the K5 body mounted on the frame. Excellent job on the build, y'all gonna have a top notch K5.
Nice fuel tank real quality !!
Yes sir!
Yeah this tank looks awesome
Nice tank bro I'm going to check them out for my C10 tank
Please do. They're the best in the biz.
I bought one for mine. It made my fuel system so much easier to get right. Not the cheap option, but worth it.
@@voodstoc yeah they like $700
looks great....
Thanks!
Nice work. Do you have any videos of routing the fuel lines and connections?
When you blow it back apart grab some loctite 545 and use it instead of the Teflon tape let it cure a couple days before adding air to the system but stuff works amazing
Good suggestion. This is in the fitting at the top of the bag.
Use the stuff on all fittings it’s a liquid that cures in the absence of air. The excess wipes off for a super clean look. I keep a small bottle in my glove box but haven’t had to use it and my truck see’s tons of miles when it’s nice out
We are gonna need some stickers and shirts with the k5
Yes sir!
SMASH SMASH SMASH THAT THUMBS UP 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 UBT #1
No tie rods connected up front? Nice looking take! It's all coming along nicely!
Nope. No steering components at all. Having to redo my driver upper control arm to clear everything. Thankfully MMW is taking care of us.
for me gaz tank goes in between frame rail not under (more space clairence on the ground, no tank fall down if something append )...but this just me! keep the good work! :)
A thousand ways to skin a cat. We mounted this one for easy access to drop if necessary. We did it this way on Teddy and have gone thousands of miles with no issues. That said, we could pull the bed on it if we needed, but I'm not pulling the body on a blazer once set. Mounted on the bottom, it is. :)
That seems like a pain to get in and out if needed
Appreciate your video I’m about to install about tank as well. Did you rub a metal gas line?
Could I get some info regarding your air bag system, where did you buy it and other modifications you did to your suspension?
Thanks!
Where did you order this from ? What about fuel lines tia
cool
Thanks
Супер! Привет из России
Looks great! I would love this tank for my 4x4 K5 - do you know if that area of the frame is the same on a 4x4 in comparison to your 2WD?
I don’t actually but I’m unsure why it would be different. Both leaf sprung vehicles in the rear so my thought is it would work.
Love this tank, we need a tank for our 74 C10. Yall happy with this tank? I have been checking out their products!
Totally! We run them in all of our trucks. They are primo!
👍🏼
That fuel cell's shining like a diamond in a goat's butt😆 Looking good Robbie!
haha thanks!
Hey Robbie, got the same side fill tank for my C10. Fits perfectly and thanks for the recommendation. I don't know where the fill neck comes out on UBTK5 so do you have content where you're plumbing the fuel fill coming out? Not sure how I'm gonna do that when I put the bed back on. Thanks man. Really enjoy your channel!
Thanks, Daryl! We will have some content on that coming soon, but, on the blazer, we are using the factory filler set-up for a blazer.
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS I really appreciate that you take the time to answer most of your subscribers. Has to be difficult as your channel grows (like signing glove boxes!). Thanks again.
@@djazzy1016 haha it has become increasing more difficult but I try my best to carve out time each day to respond. UBT wouldn't be anything without you guys!
Did you order the tank straight from Boyd Welding as a one off order? Or did you get if from somewhere else? I just started to rebuild a 76 step side and want to relocated the tank to the rear.
Direct from Boyd. Shoot them an email or give the me a call and they will get you fixed up.
What option is recommended for the fuel level sensor as far as OHM?
Just depends on what your gauge wants to see. I think there was a split in the years across 67-72 (i think) for the factory ohmage, but if you're running aftermarket gauges, they will tell you what ohm their gauge requires.
Question how many gallons is that fuel tank and also shouldn't the filler neck be on the driver side
You know, I think it's 19 gallons but I'll have to doublecheck.
This video is very attractive and so beautiful...
Very good looking tank but outside my price range for my burb. Would be scared to see how much it would cost me for a 40 gallon tank.
Yeah, that would be a big tank
Either way keep up the good work so I can steal other ideas from y'all!
@@MTJ1986 haha
Sorry if I miees it in the video but what does this exact tank go for?
Price-wise? Check out www.boydwelding.com for you application.
Apparently I fat fingered my spelling but thanks for the link
Have you found out what engine you're gonna put in it?
Yes sir. 5.3/6L80e
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS I guess you like ls engines? I like 350s no computers on 350s
What wheels are those????
Detroit Steel Wheel Delrays
How many gallons it holds
19, i believe
How many gallons is this tank?
I think it's 19 gallons
I was wrong it's on the passenger side sorry
Following closely as I want a K5 blazer, have two little ones or I'd get a squarebody.
Exactly why we're putting this one together the way we are.
