I’ve been writing for people for 19 years. Nothing beats an outline. Next, hit each opening sentence with a bold claim. Then, use body of paragraph to support bold opening sentence. Finally, close paragraph with a concluding sentence that echos opening sentence.
Do you have a website where you sell your copywriting services?
It works - even though the reader knows they're being pitched. This is because of how our minds function. We can't help but follow the story. It's happening to you right now.
Thanks
I love how your content is never boring, so conversational and relatable
Thanks Joly.
I agree! Easy to follow.
Man. You are providing a great service by sharing all of your process, every step of the way, behind your projects. This is very valuable. Thanks again.
Thanks Mutualist.
My friend, I believe the word you were looking for, in place of value, is 'VISION'. That is what I used with my first client which we just did our discovery session 3 days ago. I'm very happy with the results and excited for our next meeting. You guys are doing this world a great deed, thank you🙏
Wow!! I was looking for a channel like this for months, and now I'm so glad that I found it :)
Keep the good work guys
Cheers from Colombia
Hello Andres. Welcome Colombia.
Andres Ruiz same
Same here!
Same here!
I like the way you think and how clear you explain everything. Thanks Chris.
Greetings from Belgium to the Blind team.
I am extremely grateful for all the videos Skool has published. So much to learn, so much to improve! Thank you so much Chris and Jose.
you're welcome Simone.
Randomly stumbled across your videos today Chris, love them! I'm a copywriter, and client sessions like this are so important to really get inside the brain of a brand and their audience. An emailed creative brief just doesn't cut it! I would LOVE if you did a few more copy focused videos like this....developing a tone of voice, optimising SEO content, finding your writing niche etc. Thanks :)
hi. welcome to the channel Amy.
Six minutes in and have stopped twice now to take notes. Thank you!
AJ James you're welcome.
@@thefutur I got some great notes too, awesome stuff guys! Many thanks.
Just found this channel! Awesome content for creatives! You're showing the processes of evolution in a company. LOVE IT!!!
Welcome the the Futur.
Just watched your video, love how you show the process and help people who are seeking to build their website.
Best sales meeting ever, played in every sales office across america
Thanks Chris! Helpful tips for new copywriters!!
This was insane! I loved it, but more importantly learned much more about the "why" behind why anyone does anything. And using this to create content that speak to your users while bridging the gap between "another goal-driven brand" versus one that's truly after helping the use solve their pains.
The formula you're looking for is AIDA - Attention, Interest, Desire (Decision in the movie) and Action. Love your videos, you guys. Thank you for teaching us so much stuff!
I messed up on this.
Simon sinek's golden circle at 2.53. One of my fav. Ted talk of all time.
Really really brilliant sir.
The way you showed us the approach - mind blowing .
I didnt even tried to skip for 10 sec. All the time was oh great ,wow , absolutely perfect- awesome freaky awesome .. Means that kinda reaction ..
So thank you so much for this way to breaking down the scenario
You're very welcome! glad to help.
Totally straightforward and valuable. Also props to the camera-person, love the fluidity and handling.
Aaron did a great job. He was exhausted after taping this episode.
wow the way you explain is phenomenal, any writer worth their salt should be talked to like this and results from their copy would guaranteed be worth it... kudos
Thank you
I actually sped this video up to 1.8x before I read the comments asking you to slow down. Lol. To each his own :)
Thanks for the good content
watch it at any speed that suits you.
This is so great. Your content is very inspirational and straightforward. This help a lot in developing a thinking process. This like a brand gap and Simon Sinek combined.
you spotted the references. Start with why was incredible.
great video as always. as an young architect i learned a lot from this channel. from small things like how to improve my portfolio, to how to build right mindset to develop good business and open up my architecture firm in near future. thank you very much for that. you guys are amazing, i wish all the best for Blind Studio. sorry for bad english, it's not my native language. keep up good work. :)
Thanks Bojan. I think the number of architects watching our channel is growing. Glad to have you.
I REALLY like what you said "The quality of the questions you ask, express your value." - It's so easy to get stuck on figuring out ways to show your value. It's nearly impossible to put it into words or put it into a catchall re-usable script. The best way still comes down to just being honest and asking the right questions and showing your expertise through what you are asking and how you are interacting with them. Love it!
I have a whole lecture on that subject.
The Skool Network would love to hear it! Is it online anywhere?
it was filmed in Bratislava, Slovakia. I'll let you know when it's posted.
+The Skool Network looking forward to it, I'll definitely keep an eye out for it!

Just came across your channel. Awesome content guys. I love how you're generous in sharing your processes
welcome.
i think the A part of A.D.D.A can be usefull if you just ask the user something that sparks the mind in a way that make the user aware of the value your company can give. You say it yourself Chris "The quality of the questions makes the diftrents.

This is so interesting and the core of everything! Although I feel all the strategy based on design thinking really needs to translate to reality and help people who use the product. great stuff! Thanks!
Thanks Vikram.
Great stuff. Strong foundation towards my web content writing practice.
I've really enjoyed the presentation, keep the good work.
Absolutely amazing channel! LOVE IT (all the way from NYC)!!!
West to the best coast.
thank you. Hope to get more lectures from you this was very helpful
I think this is the best content writing video i've seen
wow. thanks!
I watched this video just after "strategy to design" maybe fourth of mine from futur and second day that I tuned in. Previously it was for "pricing creative services" and really amazed by the confidence and strategies we can use for client meetings, negotiating and estimating. I was watching that because I used to do web design work (technically web UI development) and it has been very bad for me here in India but right now I am here creating a brand which actually goes over the board as I was sick at the gap there was when I was talking to clients and they just knew business stuff and we just had to talk about design stuff and our value was not really anything as we are not solving any problem just providing a service... and I recently tried to talk to clients about their businesses they think that its helpful but still had no real solidity.
So, I just thought that I will create a unique service in my agency where I am not a stuck to a service but to a greater problem as I do love business and marketing and have been learning and poking around with it, but didn't really find anyday a brand like futur (ofcourse I know there must be) and on top of that you guys are sharing the content, Much Appreciated!
But I think I have somehow myself figured it out and right now thinking of Chris Do, that this what I exactly planning to do and it is my future self.. I love you buddy for sharing the knowledge and experience of years!
Sorry for the long message.. tho, Peace!
Love from India.. check out my instagram page on, @vimalsocial and website vimalpatra.com which I am launching this weekend thanks.
Just discovered this. Very educational. Please produce more of this. Thanks.
hi terrence.
You're are doing a great job and great help. I Love You Chris the way you are helping us. Thank you so much!
Thanks Kundan for your encouragement and comment.
I love your content! Thank you for publishing this brain storming session that lets us take part in the thought process - got my creative juices going! But what I love even more is your huuuuge whiteboard! So thumbs up for this video!!!
This is amazing. Thank you for articulating this insight.
I use all of your ideas and tips in my own conquest to becoming a better designer. Being self-taught, it's enthralling to find content other than "How to design the most generic logo ever" or "Pay me tons of money to tell you that you need to figure everything out for yourself" Thank you for your wisdom and honesty! :)
Thanks Jay. Keep leveling up. We'll keep giving away the information. One day, when you hit the mother load, come back and buy something.
Definitely will do!
I feel like Simon Sinek needs a shout out for the "Start with Why" diagram that was explained in the video. He has a great Ted talk on it (czcams.com/video/u4ZoJKF_VuA/video.html), as well as a book called "Start With Why".
absolutely. i'm a big fan. i thought i mentioned him during the video. was that an oversight?
You may have during the talk, but it may have gotten edited out in the video. Or I just missed it when I watched. No biggie, it's a great philosophy and thought if anyone else wanted to learn more they could check out the source material. Valuable stuff. Good video by the way! Just found your channel and subscribed.
I also noticed it first hand.
Thanks for sharing-love the candid insight! It's always interesting to see how the creative process is negotiated, and it's rare-outside your own experience-to be able to get that close.
Thanks Lisa. We have a lot more where this came from.
This was amazing! Made me want to be part of the team! So useful and insightful! Thank you and congratulations!
your content is amazing, i enjoy how you know exactly what you want or what your looking for... i think its amazing
Abdulrauf Yamta thanks!
Looking for valuable videos and info that will help me about content writing! Helps a lot. Thanks.
Love me some Golden Circle - I wish more businesses could recognize the significance of the "Why". Working on making that change at my corporate setting and it is starting to take hold and it makes a big difference in the day to day.
It's a hard thing to know... the why you exist question is very difficult to answer.
The form matters.
Your approach to content is awesome, because it shows the real work.
I feel myself a part of the discussion process.
It's like a gonzo journalism but a #GonzoBizEd. You're inventing a new genre. It's a future, I believe.
The idea is worth stealing)
Huge respect for your talent and the way you execute it.
check back when we drop the Post Mortem episode. We are going deeper in pulling back the curtain.
Thank you very much for sharing this process! It's very insightful.
Thanks Michelle.
Again the info you guys give is like finding Gold for startups like us. Loved it.
Thanks Stash Man. When you are ready for some external help, just reach out.
+The Skool Network thanks,I will definately 😊
Love it brother!
wow! you guys can't imagine how useful your videos truly are..😍
How have we helped you Mariama?
+The Skool Network If I should hire a copy before you re video I wouldn't have no idea how to "help" o participate actively or maybe give the "instructions" or make them understand the tone and voice to do a proper content. it makes sense for you? i don t know if a explained myself
+Mariama Sall yes. Perfect. Thank you.
love this .. Thank you!
This video is super useful and is now *my* guide for content writing~! I'm much more confident in my writing now Thank you XD
I love that sitcom-ish intro btw lmao
Thank you. Glad to hear.
I'd wish I could work with you guys as an intern. The videos work in so many ways. I share them all with my team when I can. This went str8 to my writer. Thanks!
Virtual internship. What kind of shop do you run? Tell us more.
You are a good communicator Chris.
Great content. Thanks.
Thanks Heiki. I've been working on my communications and presentation skills.
The Vision/Goal you sir Chris telling is so solid. And direct and it reflects on what we are (designers) missing today. Dang its so inspiring to hear this process. :) Really looking forward to see the output of this development for Blind Studio.
Fingers crossed, 30-45 days and the site will be launched. Finalizing copy right now and should be in development next week. I will also review and critique the WIP as we see progress from dev team.
I like Janica's smile. seriously.
Love the sneak peek at your thought process. I work for as an in-house designer and we're asked to develop web content. This helps me know what kinds of questions to ask. And better position a a brand. Keep this topic and all your other ones coming!
We will be reviewing the site in stages as we see how our developers turn the designs into a working site.
That'll be great to watch :D Thanks for posting a reply.
You bet Paul.
You guys always have content I have in mind to look up that's readily available! I was just thinking about this
Like we're reading your mind.
LOL I see what you did there
I see the line of enquiry here... philosophy, wow that make really sense...
SO GOOD!!
WOW!!!... Mind Blown!
You guys are creating value.
Thanks Mashud. Are you receiving value?
Very informative thank you guys...
mauraandtom finnegan you're welcome.
WoooW! Great stuff
Thank you! You are so sweet Chris :)
Paula Castillo 😊
I am also a writer, this is so useful!
Glad to hear.
Shots fired at 99designs :D I used to grab projects from there in high school, until I realized designers are kind of being undervalued! Found out your channel like a day ago and I already love the content you have!
Glad to have you on our channel.
i'd shared this with my staff in the office and its really inspiring, Cheers from Malaysia, btw Janica is really CUTE...
John Lim lol. Glad the video helped. She's easy on the eyes.
Very resourceful content
The Golden Circle.... oh yeah!! knowing that you can do everything more easy!
Right.
My simplest of views: Brand = your business idea + macro/micro culture + the world's perception
Apple's inner story is "Creative tools for creative minds," yet the public story is "Think different." What's missing here is the role of story. The magic was in the metaphor.
Blind: Building Brand Bridges.
Upward.
This is a fun exercise.
nice Alex.
I'm getting all this value for free. Thanks, Chris.
Thanks for sharing.
Consider the bridge idea stolen! :))) Awesome video!
Very good!
You're dope as hell. Everything you talk about is purely from a standpoint of experience and philanthropic advice. That's dope. Also, I secretly think you're one of the coolest designers out there. I don't know if I'd get a drink with you, but I'd definitely attend a conference if you speak at it.
Lol. Thanks Eliot. I don't drink so we won't be having one of those. : )
Glad you like what we're doing.
Thanks for this video !
you're welcome.
Dope intro guys...
" If you feel ugly outside but you are a beautiful human being, there's an internal and external component. " - Chris Do, 2016
Very relevant to what Ive been up to, been writing and re-writing copy for my website for the past week,
Side note, my professor always used to reference that same Alec Baldwin scene all the time ahah
That's a favorite quote/scene for many people.Glengarry Glen Ross. ABC. Always. Be. Closing. Coffee is for closers.
I think the word in place of value should me potential. That is what most company's goal is to maximize their potential and you are a company helping to facilitate that.
i like that.
@@thefutur Potential is good... Reality was in my mind then, Internal Reality.
@7:22 'surfacing pains and highlighting solutions along the way' #EPIC
The only thing I don't like about this video is its making me go back to work. lol, time to revisit my web copy. Thanks Chris!
Sorry Sean.
When you said about the logo (is not good because was made in 99 designs) this hurt my heart, hahaha, I work there (I'm packaging graphic designer), but talking about the logos I think they are bad, because, they are reflecting 2 things: 1- Bad briefing 2 Very bad taste by the side of client.
There in 99designs there are very amazing talent people.
Thanks Chris I love your videos
:)
sorry for breaking your heart. i'm sure there are very talented designers that work with 99 designs. i'm just offended by the whole concept of having so many people pitch for design work. it's against everything i stand for. now, if it's your only viable option to make money, then i'm not judging. it's just not for me.
thanks for watching.
Love the Simon Sinek part!
me too. : ) i'll be attending his speaking event coming up in a few weeks.
great stuff as for number 4 I guess the word you were looking for is potential...
Best 26 minutes spent!
Appreciate it.
great video!
love your content!
where can i find more information about this ADDA thing?
thanks
Google. Or Skillshare.
@@thefutur well, i searched... could not find anything...
"Their logo looks like it came from 99designs" 😂😂😂
This video was awesome, Chris! I learned a ton about copywriting for website. Gonna use it on mine :D
Thanks 👌
Atul Pradhananga awesome. Good to hear. Send me a link when your site is up.
Will do :D
Love you brother
Just discovered the channel, subscribed. Awesome content, let the binge watching begin.
How would you approach a project in which the customer is really vague, not willing to provide any direction or interaction yet expects you to "wow" them?
I work for a government agency and this is a common scenario I face.
ah, the classic, "they don't know what they want". this is a test of the skill of the creative. help demystify the process. use common words (not design speak) and help them help you. maybe this is a whole episode and not a reply. let me think about this.
That could be a helpful video, "How to Elicit Information from Stakeholders".
Going to continue digging through your videos on to the next playlist, "PlayAll".
That's a gold!!!
'The hardest thing is to know yourself', doubtlessly agree.
Thales- the greek philosopher said that is the hardest thing to do. Maslow agrees in his pyramid of needs.
I can so relate to that content writer! Being in a brainstorming sesh and having someone treat you like dictionary/thesaurus.. Writers have lots of tools at their disposal and we can't always improvise.. It's a process..and this sure isnt it. #poorlady #GiveHerABrief #LetHerWrite
Great Video. Thank you for sharing.
The WHAT-HOW-WHY is from Simon Sinek's TED Talk for anyone interested.
Cris, I have a question.
When you are creating a website, if the company is constituído with only one person, how should we introduce ours services.
Like, " we are a brand agency....."?
burn. 20:32 99designs.
SCN9A I heard that, lol!
Hi Chris, you mentioned those are the keywords you wish to rank. A quick question, on what basis these keywords are selected? By search volume? By intent? Not sure if the keywords you mentioned are searched by your audience in the first place.
we reverse engineer our keywords by looking at the space where we want to be. if we find enough of our competitors in a search result, then we know what words to use. there are also tools where you can look up a page's top keywords.
Great content, even 5 years after...
Is there an exactly video continuation of this one, please? Thank you. Or more videos to continue this «copy adventure»...
Simon Sinek's Golden Circle :DD Very helpful!
I got to see Simon speak during his latest book tour "Together is better" last week. If that wasn't enough, as a special treat Aloe Blacc performed live. That was a pretty awesome combo.
That's pretty cool. Is the tour about his book? (I haven't heard of it till now)... I think you might find this interesting; this company is doing interactive marketing as a way to tell brand stories or whatever you'd want to use this for. bit.ly/2dbKlu3
I just stumbled upon this and thought I'd share it with someone :P
Yes. The tour is to promote his new book and concept about leadership.
