  • Hi beauties,
    In this video I discuss how I have grown my hair to the length it is now and I also share some important tips. Everyone's hair is different but I think you all should really know how I achieved this length. Many women have told me it is their goal length and I want them to know it is completely achievable without having to take supplements, buy a bunch of expensive products, or keep your hair in protective styles 80% of the time.

    How do you use the rooted castor oil? I just got some and afraid to waste it its so expensive :-) Do you dilute and use at the root? I see you have a lot of hair

      Omg thanks beautiful for the reply i am enjoying your channel so much. I have the same hair type but finer strands. Its about 11 inches and my goal is 20 inches. I have been stuck at this length for years. The truth is i don't know what i am doing. I have way too many products and find that these 'natural products' don't always work. I can't wait for the next video. I will try mix it with butter. I live in Australia so its not easy to get.

    I notice anytime 4c hair is long, thick, and luscious, people will start questioning if its "truly 4c." I dont think it has anything to do with skin color.

      AfriPrincess411 especially. if you keep your hair stretched. you gonna hear "is that all your hair?" "is that your hair?" I think people are stuck in the nappy can grow but not long. I remember when I first went natural, ppl said my hair not gonna grow. Now they say "she think she cute with her hair like that" 😂😂

      Unfortunately, the ones who cant believe it, simply don't have enough hair care knowledge to know that, IF you "regularly maintain/groom" your hair, consistently use the same products that work best for "your" hair, and arent going thru hairstyles like underwear every other week, then your hair can reach optimum health, and showcase its full potential of radiance and beauty. Some sadly just do not know how/or do not put in the effort to "maximize the potential" of their hair. My mother has been a beautician for over 30 yrs, I have been in n out of various hair salons all my life, and seen women of ALL ethnicities with healthy hair and hair that is going down the drain. Hispanic women I've seen with healthy hair, and Hispanic women I've seen with broken off, thin, dry n over processed hair; African women I've seen with healthy hair, and African women I've seen with the opposite; Indian women( west, east, or native) I've seen with healthy hair, and with the opposite..it boils down to what YOU do with YOUR hair!

  • @TheStinalee201120
    @TheStinalee201120 Před 7 lety +41

    I have come to the conclusion that no one will ever agree 100% on hair typing, because afro textured hair has too many variables, too many looks. Curl pattern, hair density/sparseness, strand thickness/thinness, texture (cottony, spongy, thready, silky, wiry)... those different combinations can have a 4c silky with medium density hair mistaken for a 4a spongy with medium density hair due to the compact shrinkage that texture is prone to. Our hair won't fit neatly in a little box, but how can we expect it to when it's not it's nature? It defies gravity as well as labels.

    sometimes people dont understand the diversity WITHIN our ethnicities. even though we have a beautiful rich history (which pops up in genes now and then) light skin does not automaticallt mean you are "mixed" or "biracial" in the modern day sense. my family is very similar to yours and my older sister has the same complexion as you. you're confidence is so beautiful and it glows inside out!

    I just did the big chop. Over the years I've gotten relaxers and always wondered why my hair was so thin and breaking. My hair would shed like crazy and no amount of protein and moisture would help so I decided to cut it all off and I have a twa now. My hair would never grow past neck length and I am excited to see where my hair will go from here. You just gained a new subbie, I love how empowering your videos are on your hair. Good points. Unfortunately our people have been told "light skinned with good hair" for so long, they forgot that our DNA is capable of producing many variations of hair types and skin types, WITHOUT the help of non-black DNA SMH! We need some serious help with understanding what we are.

    Napp Queen, nice video. The JBC you mentioned is the best one out because it's the real deal no chaser. They actually have a YT video showing how they make it. My great-grandmother use to make it back home and whenever I go back to Jamaica, I always buy some directly from someone that makes it. I have rum bottles of it at home right now, lol. And Yes, there's a huge difference with some of the most popular brands, most of them are diluted, not thick. JBC is something that was homemade, peoples Grannies use to make it. There were no brands until it became popular. Everyone would just make sure to buy some from Mr or Miss so and so when they went back home. You would see the dark stuff in liquor bottles at most Jamaicans houses, lol. But all across the Caribbean, people make Black Castor oil. The difference with JBC is we usually roast the beans longer and that's why JBC is usually slightly darker BUT everyone does it slightly different but it's still a similar process. There's also Haitian Black Castor oil now.

Great video, great advice! It amazes me that black women are offended by the word nappy/kinky, but yet, some black women don't have a problem with the filthy rap garbage, that's being passed off as music, some of this so call music is repeatedly saying nigga, using vulgar language, calling women whores, calling them the B word, it's really sad, that black women actually purchase this filth.

    Hi baby Aaliyah (no disrespect, I loved her and you look like her)! 😍 🙋🏾Could you do a video on your low manipulation or lack of traditional protective styling? To me girls that don't use weaves or wigs as often have more lush hair overall. Not always, but the hair seems different and healthier. I've been low key watching and comparing those that don't use weave as much and I'm so sure there is a MAJOR difference in the overall quality of their hair. Yours is gorgeous, by the way! 😍😍😍

    • @NappQueen
      @NappQueen  Před 7 lety +45

      Kwameika Postell lol I definitely wasn't offended thanks for the compliment 😊 and as far as women who don't really protective style having more lush and healthy hair, I think it's more so because they spend more time learning their hair in each stage, when you protective style 80% of the time you're kinda disconnected with your hair as it grows through stages and often don't care for it as well because you don't know it as well. I don't think the protective styles are the problem, it's more so the disconnect. I guess it is enough to discuss in a video thanks for the idea I'll keep it in mind for the near future

    • @mianaomipost9885
      @mianaomipost9885 Před 7 lety +10

      Wow! Never thought of it that way! Excellent point! In your video, could you talk about what you did at each stage? What you did during setbacks? How you used low maintenance protection? Maybe also include some pics of your styles that are low maintenance(that's my main issue). Well, now it is...I'm recovering from major damage from weaves, and I'm ever grateful that I decided to nourish it. I'm in love with my hair now. Thanks for sharing your journey. Helps a lot!

      @Chin715 Před 6 lety

      Napp Queen That is EXACTLY why I'm not doing protective styles anymore because once it gets to a length and I wear it out, it immediately breaks or I break it in the protective styles by bobby pinning the wig or too tight braids etc. Aka how I ended up on this video lol

Hair grows when you nourish it with good products and keep it moisturised, putting hair in a protective style and not making sure that your hair is hydrated will not lead to hair growth. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. XXX.
