Hey Norm, great joining you for a morning walk. Much better sitting inside watching this than being out in the 37C we have here (Adelaide, South Aust) today. In the process of planning my next Japan adventure now so I should be doing my own later this year,

I guess I'll finally comment here. Been watching your channel for a long time now but am always too nervous/shy to comment! But you asked about how the new year is going. So far, my year has been a little weird! I came down sick on the 1st (it was just a cold) and am still trying to get over some of it (have a cough still). I quit my toxic job the other day after something bad happened there. And then today I got a new job that I start next week! So kind of a whirlwind start of the year! I'm planning to work on myself this year, trying to maintain a positive attitude! I might start streaming on twitch again. Besides that, I'm going to keep learning Japanese! I also want to try to be more active and do things more. Last year was a pretty rough year for me (had covid in Jan 2022, major car accident Feb 2022, and then lost my dog middle of the year). So now it's a new year and I'm gonna keep moving forward and make the best of it. Thank you for your videos, they always make my day when I see a new one is posted!
Haven't been on a proper vacation in years, but I'm starting to plan on a trip to Japan. Just me and my daughter for her graduation present in 4 years. So I might not be getting that proper vacation until our feet hit the ground in the Land of the Rising Sun!
Thanks so much for another great video. I got to spend the first 2 weeks of January ‘23 in Japan and am already looking forward to the next trip!

I caught a livestream at last, if only for 4 or 5 minutes 😂. 2023's started well...I feel as if I've become more focused on achieving some various personal goals, including getting my passport and visiting Japan. 13 days down, and I feel as though I've accomplished more in that short length of time than in the previous six months. My weight loss proceeds apace (down 19 kg in 6 months now, though about 39 kg yet to go), and I've taken renewed interest in learning Japanese language and culture. I'm determined to make this my year to do things...and I'm glad to derive some motivation from simply watching a few of your videos.
Darn missed the live, but glad I caught the video while it was still up! It has unfortunately been a very rough start to the year. The slight good news is I finally got over a week+ long cold, so looking on the positive side!

Happy to have caught the stream! My year has started off good! Meeting new people and planning new things! This year I'm definitely committed to going to Japan. That's my big plan for the year. Its been a life goal of mine so far and I think i'm ready to do it! After that I'm hoping to start traveling the world (safely) and see where the world takes me! 😆Great stream ending!! 10/10

I hope to be able to visit Japan in March/April if only to hug my friends and to see have a Japanese heron sighting firsthand as I feel like I spend the entirety of your outdoor videos searching the background for them.

I’ve never really just walked around back alleys and stuff even though I’ve been to Tokyo many times. The next time I’ll take some time to just walk around and see if it’s as nice irl as it is watching your streams/videos.

Chaotic start so far, will stay that way most of the year I suspect, crazy here until I get to Japan in April, crazy afterwards getting a new life started, should be fun tho. Definitely should get to catch up a bit.

I stayed up past muh bedtime once it sounded like you might nuke this video from orbit by morning. What a really gratifying little journey this was. I really enjoyed the aesthetic of that just-threatening-rain, softly bright cold whiteness of the morning light, and the streets becoming progressively more busy as people's workdays began in earnest. If you're still on the edge of deciding whether to leave this up, I'd vote to leave it, for those reasons. It's different enough from most of the vids of yours I've seen that it has a couplefew dimensions of novelty.
I'm impressed by that PowerVision S1 gimbal, too. Just looked it up, and its prices in Murrika are ranging from $170 to 230, which seems reasonable for that performance. And it's bonkers small, too, you're right about that!

Cats actually have a wider field of view than we do, helping them to spot any threats or objects of interest approaching from the side. They can see 200 degrees (30 degrees on each side) compared to our 180 degrees (20 degrees on each side)

2023 started with COVID (I'm guessing the new hot variant), and therefore also a bunch of video games and anime. Thankfully symptoms were mild and I work from home.
Plans? Plans are possibly trying to get to an anime con -- and saving money for 2024. Got to get that "Staying inside" money going again for next year! :D

Those joggers were probably a club either training or doing a time trial（Saturdays are a typical training day universally i believe lol）

The point with the safe space in the car isn't Japanese. It's a general thing world wide. People behave very different in cars compared to not being in cars because of the privacy and anonymity.
