  • The Can Am Ryker has gone somewhere. Simply put its in the shop. Now luckily its not for anything bad , nothing broke or malfuntioned. The Ryker has finally come to its 12,000 mile service which means the CVT belt is being replaced. The service also includes the 6,000 mile service so its very involved. In this video I'll explain as best i can what's involved and what gets replased. There is a lot of labor involved and it is costly. I'll also discuss some problems with my fuel pump and talk about the latest recall.
    Ride safe everyone.

Mine is in the shop now for the fuel pump recall. I'm doing alot of maintenance this year too. mostly because I'm doing a clutch kit and the ryker will be all apart anyways.

Beat thing is to do everything at once if you can. I wish that fuel pump was under the recall. It just made alot of noise but didn’t fail and i didn’t want to find out. What is this clutch kit you mentioned ?

New York's noisiest 🤣🚒 Owning a Spyder reminds me of owning a boat "Break Out Another Thousand"... or 2. I just started tallying my project costs today and my jaw hit the floor 😬

Yea, I’m sure you’re wondering would it have been better to just buy a new one but where is the fun in that. I think i cut it out but i do remember saying that next time I’m doing it all myself. Ill just have to borrow one of my buddies garages. Hopefully I’ll be moved by then and have more space than I need. Yep New York’s Noisiest is a term of endearment from my previous career. They love turning the siren on when you’re standing 5 feet away at a job.

Mine is on the recall but add 2 fuel pump changed before the recall ….and since I did not do it at the dealer they will not pay. Almost got stock on the bridge and lost the engine ...got off the bridge but got very lucky , waited 20 mm and its started again. ( I was not low on Gaz , just a bad pump) cost was $699 but your idea is great …..for a heat shield. I dont do the work since I am not a good mechanic at all , but love riding My Yellow ryker...cannot wait for spring .. since its in storage until April

The idea is not i mine can’t recall where the heat shield idea came from honestly but it did stick in my head. You probably had the problem I did. You just replaced a bad pump with another bad pump. Glad i checked the one i had before it was installed as well as not installing it when i got it. I just called the shop and told them to hold the old pump till i pick the Ryder up so i can check its number just to see if it is a recalled one. If it is i will be pitching a fit! The bad pumps are actually listed on the recall.
