OK that being said go check out or have your RYKER checked out to see if this part isn't seated right. So I had read a story on FB about someone who had this part apparently fail or fall out and it caused his wheels to violently wobble( paraphrasing the original story). I went out and checked mine and found that the plastic wasn't seated quite right. So I ordered new parts and replaced the originals. It wasn't hard or expensive and I can say that on subsequent test rides my steering has not been negatively effected. I'm not an expert but I don't think you will notice anything until it possibly fails. I don't think its would hurt to look at it and make a decision. I also don't know how widespread this is as I haven't seen any other posts on it. There are only 3 parts if you reuse the original bolts and it cost me less than 20$ so I think it was worth the money. Effort wise it wasn't difficult but due to when I did it ,it was uncomfortable. I'll list the part numbers I used below but double check for your year and model.

FYI MY ALIGNMENT HAS NOT BEEN EFFECTED AND REPAIR IS STILL HOLDING.
If you checked your RYKER let me know if your steering bearing is not sitting right.

Glad it helped. As I said in the vid it was a FB group member bringing it to my attention.

    My lower bearing fell out.
My left tire had the death wobble before the repair.
Made same repair. No issues since repair. I check every now and then to verify bearing is still in place.

@@SIRyker my repair was same as you have in the video. My top bearing had fell out. Everything was in place. Not sure of the cause???
I removed the wire connection that was in front of it for a little better access. No issue since the repair.

Luckily it only goes in one way so alignment shouldn’t be an issue as far as I can tell.

Just curious how the plastic bush came out in the first place? Maybe the locating lugs snapped off, who knows. Anyway, it should have helped your bike with more positive steering and for $12, it's worth replacing.

@@mum-0217 I didn’t notice any locating tabs. The recesses are curved so I would assume that provides the locating and securing. I didn’t notice any play before the parts swap. I was more worried of the part falling out.

@@SIRyker I thought I saw some plastic pins coming out from the bottom of each cup and going into corresponding round holes? Might be wrong but at least you have changed it now anyway. 👍

Thanks for the info and pointing out. How many miles have different people got on their Ryker? Just interested to think when to remove/clean/regrease. Mine is only 400miles. at the moment. Cheers

What an odd part. I'm betting the plastic wears down over time and the reduced thickness allows it to slide down the shaft and out of its seat. Nice repair yada yada yada! 🔧😎

Hey buddy I didn’t notice any major difference actually. Then again I never measured it. It really shouldn’t be shifting given what it actually does. It is an odd design. BRP doesn’t believe in Murphy law.

Just had some marine corrosion control trailer wheel bearing grease I had in house. It doesn’t feel like it’s a high pressure or stress bearing( it’s plastic) but I’ll tell you that the old grease was gritty.
