The Mongol Empire undoubtedly had one of the most accomplished armies in history. This video focuses on a few of their lowest points, so it should be noted that the mongols achieved a greatly disproportionate ratio of victories. What do you believe was their greatest victory against the odds and greatest defeat?

Their greatest victory would have to be the Battle of Kalka 1223.
But what was even more admirable was the extensive campaign of Jebe and Subutai which took place in the build up to the battle.
The Mongol commanders entered enemy, hostile and unfamiliar territory, defeated new and never before encountered enemies. They used espionage, sabotage, diplomacy, military intelligence, discipline and operational and tactical brilliance to achieve what they did.
They defeated the Georgians, the Rus Princes and the Kipchaks and other nomadic tribes individually and altogether. They survived in the Caucases, Eastern Europe and went back all the more informed and educated about their enemies.

We always had advantage because mongols had to cross the sea to get us which is why no javanese king ever view them seriously, especially after Majapahit was born and naval army was created. (One of the reason the mongols hastily retreated was because the wind changed with season, if they didn't get the hell outta Java quickly, they'd be trapped in a hostile territory, which was a part of Raden Wijaya's plot.)
Vietnam, on the other hand, was so close to the mongols and they put up a great fight. Props to them.

Completely wrong. No army is simply defeated by disease. The plague could have affected, but what killed the Mongol faster were the swords and spears. Have you ever seen someone with a cold, die in one day from being infected? Even the Plague and Corona virus took time to kill a person after weakening his immune system. Ancient warriors did not have antibiotics like today and their immune systems were very strong because weak children cannot live until they reach adulthood. But I can be sure that he would die instantly if beheaded.
The Japanese and Javanese should feel lucky that they still have sea and Mongols need to travel great distances in order to invade. The Vietnamese were not so lucky. Vietnam's border was close to China ( defeated by Mongols at that time) and the Mongols easily sent troops to invaded Vietnam. To win against the most powerful army in the world at that time like the Mongols, the Vietnamese people needed to do and have done more than that.

Did Mongolia have any successes at sea? Also their MO is basically "annoy people with "envoys" and be mad when ignored/rebuffed".

Ferdinand Rosenthal Actually yes. It is called the battle of Yamen where a Mongolian navy was outnumbered ten to one by the Song dynasty fleet, and still pulled of a victory bringing about the end of the Song dynasty and killing the emperor.

Mongol diplomacy was pretty simple, submit, pay tribute and give military access or have the entire population in your empire massacred. This is what attributed to the enormous size of the Mongol empire. You dont want to be the guy in the Khwarezmian Empire or the Abbassids if you can't back up your words.

Your video is really the 1st to tell of the tell of the defeats of the Mongols. It is good get a more inclusive view of history rather than a slanted one. Thanks from a possible descendant of the Xiōngnú, later called the Huns in Europe.
