    Bro I actually shouted when I saw you squat 317 on the platform. That’s a meet PR right? So fucking strong and your bench looked like you had at least 5-10 kg more. Looking like we are back in form now dude congrats really looking good

    • @n00dle_king
      @n00dle_king Před 2 lety +7

      Yeah I’m pretty sure you see him saying something along those lines to his coach after the third attempt. He knew he had more in the tank. Unfortunately his bench is just incredibly inconsistent so you never know until you actually lift the weight.

      @TheJaakeee Před 2 lety +8

      @@n00dle_king yeah man, I think he’s been dealing with a shoulder issue too so he hasn’t benched heavy enough to test where he’s at strength wise as well. I still think it’s a great total for him, gain confidence as injuries and tweaks subside again (hopefully)

    watching the stream, it must be Bryce's height that just made him look like a giant compared to the other lifters. Reminded me of watching Halfthor walking by the other strongmen

    • @Ogilla
      @Ogilla Před 2 lety

      @@calgarybarbell Sumo-deadlift has better leverage than conventional. That being said, it also depends on the body of the lifter, but from a biomechanic perspective Sumo is way easier.
      Luckily it’s not all that counts, otherwise we wouldn’t see much conventional during competitions.

    • @pldl200
      @pldl200 Před 2 lety

      @@Ogilla but almost all heaviest deadlifts in the world are conventional. ( i am a conventional puller but saying sumo is cheating or its easier, then you have no idea)

    • @Ogilla
      @Ogilla Před 2 lety

      @@pldl200 First I never said it’s cheating. Secondly, if you look at the top deadlifts in each weight class, you’ll see the vast majority are done with the sumo technique. This is true for Women, but also men in the classes under 105kg (so the majority of them).
      Then you gotta take into account that Sumo is not allowed in strongman, so of course there’s a lot of heavy deadlifts that are done with conventional, it’s the only technique allowed in that sport.
      Lastly I said that Sumo is easier/more effective from a biomechanical perspective, and it is true. It does however require a lot of hip mobility and certains ratio of leg length vs torso length to be effective. That explains why the bigger guys usually avoid it (big belly is in the way).
      It may be « harder » to perfect the small details of Sumo, but it definitively is easier than conventional for heavy-pulling.
