    Hhhhhmm the satisfying noise of crunching knees when squating without music

      Crunching? It's more like a sandwich bag full of wet sand being ground into itself, same as mine 😄

    I love that you’re always trying to keep the big picture in mind - how long do you really want to be at that body weight, etc. But I also admire how much you love the sport and every time you think you’re going to cut down you can’t walk away from the chance to do it again.

      Ngl, half the reason I watch so much more of Bryce than any other powerlifting stuff on YT is cos I just look at him (especially when hes in deathcore shirts) and my instant reaction is "yep, found my people" (or person)

    I tried squatting in flats one day when I was too lazy to switch from my deadlift flats to my squat shoes. Felt more of a stretch to hit depth but okay. May try it again after watching this...

    I bought some elevated heel shoes a few years ago, but for me flat feels much saver and stronger, although I tried months of squatting with shoes

  • @PinataOblongata
    @PinataOblongata Před 2 měsíci

    I switched to flats to see if it would help my hip bursitis and it seemed to (unless it was some other variable, heh) so now I train mostly in flats until it gets close to comp, then do several "practice" sessions to switch over to the heels and compete in the heels. I know the general rule is to train for specificity, train how you compete, but it seems to work for me. Putting the heels on is almost like putting the belt on - a little extra something, and my hip has been good.

    I definitely miss the days of doing every lift in Chucks and not wearing knee sleeves. I could do a whole SBD day just walking from one piece of equipment to the next with no setup at all.

    • @PinataOblongata
      @PinataOblongata Před 2 měsíci +2

      And you never get the utter annoyance of putting your squat shoes on, only to find you vagued out and forget to put your sleeves on first, lol. Done that more times than I care to admit.

      @@PinataOblongata I hate that. Then I start to appreciate the convenience of velcro straps on squat shoes and hate myself just a little bit.

    new to powerlifting. Always wondered why some lifters use a mouth guard, is it just personal preference or is there an actual advantage from it?

  • @JosoLifts
    @JosoLifts Před 2 měsíci

    I really don't understand how bryce stays so tight on both squat and bench. My problem is that when I go up to heavier weight I tend to lose tightness in my back for both. I may submit an fcf video soon just so I can see what I can improve and get input from someone who's been doing this for almost 5x as long as I have been

  • @Artheam

    Supporting you/CBB is good, but a code that doesn't give a discount is wild. SBD really has a lock on powerlifting don't they.

    • @mattymattffs
      @mattymattffs Před 2 měsíci

      Most people clench during lifts. Mouth guard protects your teeth. Some say it allows for more strength, but that would be marginal at best.
