    bullmastiff is a programm from the youtube sensation Alex Bromley. But imo it's more of a general strength then powerlifting specific type program

      Yeah, it has the overhead press with the same importance as the bench. Most would call it a powerbuilding program. It's quite good.

      Yeah, I've run it twice with great success, especially for squat.

    Oh man, I am relatively new to powerlifting (1year) and I am a bigger lifter. I'm 6'6 280lbs, I've lost around 75lbs but still have a lot of belly and around 4 months ago I ran into George Leeman's video on wearing a belt higher. I tried looking for more on this but couldn't find much, anyway, I tried it, and it's made such a positive impact on my lift! I'm glad Nick brought it up, it reinforces that I made the right call!

      on the opposite side, im a 66kg lifter and wear my belt high too just cause of my short torso, i lean forward a lot on squats and deadlifts and sometimes the belt gets in the way and bruises my hips. one day i just decided to screw it and put it higher, squatting and deadlifting immediately became more comfortable, stronger too.

    Like Mike-Litorus said bellow, bull mastiff is an Alexander Bromley program. My man is a strength and muscle brained machine with a strongman background. He promotes base development and volume as a means for developing capacity in strength outside of highly specific contest prep. I think his approach is king for intermediate lifters and could probably teach a lot of advanced lifters a thing or two as well.

    It's wearing the belt around the lats. So like, normally you're bracing your abs/tva/etc into the belt. With it high, you're bracing the lats into the belt.
    Bullmastiff is a program from Alexander Bromley's book Base Strength, and is essentially GZCLP.

    Wearing hte belt high for 'thicker/shorter folks is good. It sucks when you hurt your rib because of it and cant brace for ages.

      Some not fat folk also wear their belts high for deadlifts, like Perkins

    A sort of mindset critique I'd add to lifter 2: "I want to open at 500" - I don't think it's useful to set yourself some lofty goals for your openers. Nobody cares about an opener. Take it easy, smoke it, add weight. Being fixated on a number to open up on is not productive. Pick an opener that is only as high as needed as a starting point to your second attempt, and a second attempt only as high as needed to gather data for third attempt selection. It's the third that matters - not the ones before it.

    That first lifter, the stocky dude with the deadlift. Once he breaks the bar off the floor, it swings out in front of him a little. With his leverages, that small deveations will fuck him on lockout. I'm built similar to him (my deadlift is about 10 kilos less). I had the same issue.
    I think he's overcompensating by sinking his hips too low at the start, causing them to shoot up and the movement to become a RDL.

    So I started the 16 week program recently. I'm currently in week 2 but for some issues I've to take a break from gym for 1 month. Should I start from week 3 after my return or just start from the beginning again?
