  • Oris has just updated the Aquis. There are quite a few changes, and all of them are fairly subtle. Oris has retained the Aquis DNA, but has successfully refined it. I really like this release! Check it out here-

    Hey guys, the Aquis 400 Calibre has the new easy adjustment in the clasp! Finally! Oris did an amazing job. Revamped the whole watch - case, dial, bracelet and quick adjust clasp!!

    Really subtle changes, but the kind that show how much they are taking feedback on board, and refining their designs.
    Been looking for a new 'big' (for me) purchase, and somehow had overlooked Oris. Back on the radar now, for sure.
    Nicely presented 🙏🏻🙏🏻

    I realize this might not be the best color dial to tell, but in one of your previous aquis reviews you mentioned the anti reflective coating was “pretty terrible”. Curious if you noticed if it was improved ? Thanks

    It’s one of those watches that I’d like to own but never will. For my pocket it’s too expensive just to buy on a whim, because at the end of the day, it’s just a bit of fun

      Just set aside a little from each paycheck if you can bro. Even the smallest amount is something. That's what I did.
      And about a year and a half later I had enough for a used Great Barrier Reef III on the grey market. It'll go by much faster than you think!!

      @@Mister_Martyr I know how to save. The issue is I don’t think it’s worth it, not at my stage of collecting.
      In the past I’ve methodically put away for two watches - Cartier Tank Must, Stower Flieger and have buyers remorse for both.
      I’m wanting a VC Patrimony, and if I keep on delving into the saved money pot I’ll never get one.
      Yes, this Oris would be nice, as is the Cartier and Stowa, but it’s time (for me anyway) to resist any other acquisitions.

  • @brnxbmr
    @brnxbmr Před 3 měsíci

    I agree, we don’t need massive changes to the watch, but iterations that make sense. The big one staring everyone in the face is on the fly micro adjustable bracelet clasps. I just can’t justify Oris without it. I have no reason to buy another Aquis when it doesn’t have new features.
    If I’m being honest, their rubber micro adjust is pretty terrible. The clasp and rubber makes the clasp sooooo thick, I just keep it on the bracelet even though I want micro adjust.

    No love for the 39.5mm version? Looks like that size hasn't received any of the updates. Seems like they're just eventually going to discontinue that size since it hasn't been included in any 400 caliber, upcycle, or limited editions. Hasn't been touched at all in quite some time.

    • @BruceWilliams
      @BruceWilliams  Před 3 měsíci

    • @BruceWilliams

    I got to admit I love Oris and the amount of spec in the Aquis call 400 for the money is simply stunning. I got the old blue from 2021/22 and its great to look at front or back. They ticked every box I was looking for in a watch with a gorgeous sun burst blue face imho

    Stopped watching when I heard there is no tooless micro adjustment on the clasp. No excuse, Oris. Most micro brands at a lesser price and some are below $500 have on the fly micro adjustment! It's a deal breaker for me.

    • @mexxxxximum
      @mexxxxximum Před 3 měsíci

      Exactly. A blog to watch wrote "The stainless steel three-link oyster-style bracelet that defined previous Aquis generations is largely intact here, with its recognizable polished outer links, brushed center links, and pronounced angular center link peaks, but with a new twist. For this new generation, the bracelet features a far more dramatic taper, leading to a more compact quick-adjusting clasp." So the article content was wrong, I really thought the finally got it.

    • @ae-ca602
      @ae-ca602 Před 3 měsíci +1

      This is from the Hodinkee article: Strap/Bracelet: Steel bracelet with fold-over clasp or optional rubber strap. Caliber 400 models and the 36.5mm sizing will include both the quick-change ability for the straps and the in-clasp/on-wrist micro-adjust system. For this new generation, the straps are interchangeable (including between the 41.5 and 43.5mm models).

    • @ae-ca602

    The big problem with Oris is that they are making 1000 euro watches and trying to sell them for 2400 euros. They were always bad value for money, and this latest iteration of Aquis is even worse value for money because the watch features literally no upgrades yet costs more than the previous version. This was a perfect opportunity for them to upgrade to SW300 movements and make the case slimmer as a consequence, and add an easy adjustment system to the clasp. That would justify the price they are asking. They missed out big time. Very dissapointing!
