I like the sound of the 1/2 WW engine and this tiny plane is so funny ! It looks like a RC big model with a gigantic pilot inside . However she flies perfectly, good job !
I was going to ask "what is a half vw... do you cut a vw engine in half?" Ha ha! So I googled it... good lord, will ingenuity never cease? Beautiful plane, by the way.
can you retrofit a starter in the N3 Pup, so you don't have to hand spin the prop? Seems it would be safer. Thanks for posting the video. Love how you can just go across the grass to get on the take off run way! Saves gas.
The N3 pup was designed to be FAR part 103 legal with a Rotax. Not sure if he was able to keep the weight under 254 lbs with that half VW or not, but yes it can be legally flown with no certification if the weight meets part 103.
bcberryfarm No, im going to put carb heat on it soon. Im looking at this one. www.chiefaircraft.com/la-chb2.html the cylinder head will need a heat shield on it hooked to a scat tube, coing to the carb heat box.
previous owner of mine tried a similar set up, said it didn't make enough heat to do anything. (cassler 1/2 vw, zenith carb) I've been looking into electronic set ups but haven't made any decisions yet. Trying to see what other options there are out there.
never had it ice up, but havent flown it in icing conditions. only got it a few mos. ago. and I only have 6-8hrs. on it so far. still im gonna put carb heat on it.
I am built like owner and believe me there isn’t enough space between prop, wing and landing gear. I see an accident in the making. Prop it from the front or get someone else to prop. Don’t prop from behind prop. Please.

It looks like my uncle’s old Piper J-3. I loved that plane!
What a great little airplane!
I love the comment after you landed. I know the feeling. 4300 hours later I still feel like that.
reminded me of winding the propeller on a rubber band powered toy airplane.
Lovely little aircraft !
Sweet running little plane!
Great video!!!
Congrats!
Love the way the shadow joined the airplane on the landing! Really cool!
Holly shit is right!.. 1000 feet in the air in a Volkswagen. ;)
Awesome 👍👍👍

Didn’t it have about 36hp or about?
Is that plane FAA 103 ?
Which engine is used in this Aircraft
Is it legal to fly this plane without a license? An ultralight?
What is that Bent wire rod out side your windshield?
Fuel gauge. It's attached to a float in the tank that shows how much you have by the paint markings on the wire
How fast can that plane cruise at?
What part of the country are you flying in?
Paul Houston usually the sky
You need a loud OoooGah horn . toot to your friends in the sky and when landing if there on people on the grass
Think of it a guy has the same size in rc version of this guys he flies.
The Company went out of business.
Why don't you attach a starter motor for the engine at least you can restart it whilst flying.
It probably won't make far 103 regs with a starter on.FAA care more about themselves than us
supr sir video im like mini flyte jurney. ...but I'm not jurney eny flyt
At first, I thought you were winding up the rubber band.

does your pup have carb heat and if so how does it work??

bcberryfarm Well that makes me wonder than. I would hate to waste my time on doing what wont work. Maybe i should just go with a exhaust heat shroud.
I hear people fly without it all the time, but I'm not sure about how risky that really is.

H&L Aluminium Engineering what sort of stupid statement is that ? You bmw wanker
Weight
These are for guys that can’t afford a REAL J-3. 😂😁👌🏼
Which is most people.
Or for folks who don’t care for the FAA looking I to my affairs or inside my wallet
