    1/2 VW sounds so nice! Much better than a 2-stroke screaming at 5000 RPM.

    For those young pilots looking to build time inexpensively, this beautiful plane can be registered as an Experimental , and hours flown in it can be logged. Of course, it kind of defeats the purpose of building an Ultralight, but where else can you build, and own your own 3-Axis aircraft for under $25,000 - and fly it for less than $10 per hour? Later, when it's time to move up to a bigger plane, you could sell it and recoup most, if not all of your investment - but I bet you won't ! :D

    Good friend, do you happen to have the real plans of this model with the construction manual? Thank you

    Good safety practices around that prop, you can never let your guard down around spinning props, they can and do kill people every year.

    • @ramongandia8163
      @ramongandia8163 Před 5 lety

      A bit too much throttle, plane jumps the chocks, and Mr. Jdgurl143 becomes sliced pork. I like to be ahead of the prop, then I can fall clear. Happened, the
      prop missed my nose by what seemed an eighth of an inch. Some people prop from behind, but they hang on to the doorsill, or similar. I don't care for it.
      One time I had to tie the tail, so I took a rope, tied it to the tail spring, went around a car bumper, then back to the plane's window. I tied it in the cabin.
      Propped it. Rope went tight. Climbed in, untied the knot, and threw the rope out. It trailed just fine the next couple hundred miles. I've seen some planes
      with a release hook in back. Better yet, you then reel the rope in (or leave it on that tree).

      @@ramongandia8163 Ive been told both versions - of starting by different guys and instructors - to stand behind and in front. Most of the taildragger pilots Ive known have swung the prop from the front and can get away sharpish if needs be. Although in more recent times some instructors state that the aircraft can come towards you (standing at the front) and thus push into you with you going into the prop - so their advice is to stand behind the prop. If the aircraft is chocked/braked then I cant see it doing so. Maybe as there's always an exception to the rule? The rule of standing behind the prop, is all very well, until a low wing comes forward and pushes you forward into the prop by knocking you over/or you falling on the wing and back again? Prop swinging aint for the feint hearted or absent minded.

      It's safe to fly provided you properly maintain it just like any other aircraft. Why this? Because it's an ultralight, it's cheap, it's fun to fly, and you don't need a pilot certificate to fly it. In my opinion it's an awesome little bird an he's lucky to have it.
