Tutorial For Complete Beginners
Hello everyone and welcome to my EU4 Tutorial for complete beginners! Are you new to Europa Universalis 4, or are you having the game and don’t know what to do, then this tutorial video and playlist is the one for you! I will be explaining and teaching you how to play EU4. I hope it is beginner friendly enough with all the explanations at the start of the series. When the tutorial progresses I will play the game and explain everything I do and why I do everything. Have fun with the Europa Universalis 4 tutorial! I wish you succes!

I play this tutorial with no DLC’s enabled. I chose for this since a lot of people only have the base game when they want to start playing the game. Also with no DLC’s enabled I can easily find out which mechanics I miss the most since I normally play with all DLC’s enabled.

it took me almost a week to normally understand how this game works. I was overwhelmed at first but also very determined to understand every aspect and I'm currently like 40 ∼ 50% in progress. Also, one thing, and I am saying this with complete honesty not complementarily; your videos are the best tutorials so far I've ever watched on EU4. You have a calm voice and good patience, you do not rush teaching stuff as well as you are consistent in repeating information for better grasping. Many thanks man. + Sub + like + Bell.

A great Tutorial.
For anyone overwhelmed by this please take my advice just play it slowly and you will learn, any one can play this game but few can master it. Don’t try to master it that comes with practice. And you cannot go wrong with flyingdutchy he is amazing.
The coalition map mode, lets put it this way if you need that map you are already in trouble. My advice is to use the opinion map mode so you can check your aggressive expansion before it becomes a problem. I also strongly advise you join the reddit for eu4 lots of great people willing to help.

Hi dutchy, i have my self over a 1000 hours in the game and still i wachted your tutorials. Why do you think the culture map mode is zo improtant?
Nah it isn't that important but you can see in 1 glimp what is accepted and what is not.

Not that relevant to beginners, but reducing Army/Naval maintenance also reduces how many points you get for the nation's score per month. Score is mostly to compare how well your country is doing compared to others - it has no mechanical benefit, though.

Dutchy, is there no way to have a NATO style alliance, as in I will answer a Call to Arms if an alliance member is attacked, but not when the alliance member is declaring upon another ?
I get dragged into wars continously, wars I have no stake in whatsoever.
As Holland, being allied to Denmark, I've nearly been at war with Saxony, Sweden, Norway, Brandenburg for 200 years straight.
Sure I can deny the Call to Arms, and land in a truce with Denmark.
This is not what I like though.
A defense alliance is what I want.
If that is possible in EU4, do tell how to do that.
If not, is there a DLC or mod that enables it ?
You can tell your ally that you will assist them in defensive wars only..look in the diplomacy favours tab. I'm not sure if that's with DLC only though, it may be a DLC feature, probably from Art of War.

I wish I'd never bought this game. Far too complex and none of the fun that should accompany it. Still can't figure out how to trade and make money. Seems like too much is out of your hands.
