5 years ago I bought a 1995 Mazda Astina (323F). I inspected it and it was running fine. The day after I bought it, I came to start it up and for the first 15 minutes it produced blue smoke in great volume. I really wanted an Astina of that year. It was cheap and a private sale. At first I used a bottle of Lucas oil stabiliser and that fixed it for a year. Then 2 bottles of Lucas per oil change. By the third year, the Lucas was not solving the symptom. For the last 2 years I have been running Rislone Valve Seal together with the Lucas Oil stabiliser. And in my experience, the Rislone product demonstrably works wonders. It is plainly and clearly an economical way of keeping a car with worn valve stem seals on the road and legal. It is very hard to detect worn valve stem seals in a used car - because once the motor has been started and warmed up, no symptoms are visible - its only when starting from cold first thing each day that the symptom shows. In my case anyway. But this headache and frustration and potential cost was solved for me by, initially, Lucas oil stabiliser and then, by Rislone Valve Seal . I use both to be sure. Both are great products and the Rislone has restored the sealing performance of my worn valve stem seals. I have no connection with Rislone, I am in Australia, where every summer it is very hot and car engines can get very stressed. Excellent product. Before you send your car to the wreckers, consider trying Rislone first. It is truly excellent stuff for worn valve stem seals. I can attest that Rislone does not harm my engine, no worries about that. I can say Rislone cures my problem so far. I am very happy with it and my car.

You just help me to make up my mind. I wish more people would give more of a simple explanation like yours. And just say yes it works. I have two volvo's and the 1.8 has just started smoking.... ( bad habit 🤣)but my son has just past his driving test so i thought he could use it until I can get him something that doesn't have this bad habit of smoking 🤣 thanks for your comment. Valve stem seal leak will show on cold start, it will also smoke when you take off from a light after sitting for over 2 min and can start to smoke when the ac is on because the rpm's will rise up ~200 rpm which imitate hitting the gas pedal from a stop, also of you are in Drive and just coasting at idle speed it will smoke ... but the second you hit the gas pedal to accelerate it will be gone ..

Lucas oil stabilizer is not the right stuff for that job. It has no additive package at all. Just use an off the shelf 15W-40 or 20W-50 oil. Their transmission stop leak and Lucas Zinc additive are better and more suited to purpose. Although dry valve stem seals and leaking crank seals really need "High Mileage" oil with seal swell agents.

I've just added Rislone Vale Seal to my Mini Cooper 1.6 petrol r56 engine. My valve stem oil seals leak at idle after a few minutes of being stationary whilst the engine draws the most vacuum. Driving along is fine, I'm not using any oil yet. Or if I am it's a very small oil loss
I plan on reporting back after 400 miles on whether it worked or not. I have only slight smoking from the exhaust before adding Rislone Valve Seal

The 1994 Mazda Astina got through another Australian summer without burning oil via the valve stem seals. Thanks to Rislone Valve Seal repair. The car has now hit 250,000km and is going well. I change the oil once a year, and always ensure that the dip stick reads no more than the full mark. You cant add more to the engine than that. It is not the best to add any additive to dirty oil. Empty the oil and change the filter and then add Rislone and enough oil so that the dip stick reads no higher than the full mark. Each time I change the oil (once a year) it takes a few days for the engine to settle back to not burning oil. Rislone works but it takes more than 15 minutes in my case for it take full effect. (Point: every time I do my annual oil change it burns oil when cold for a few days, it settles down and then it stops burning oil when cold. After more than 5 years the Rislone still works when added each time the oil is changed.) I have bought some new valve stem seals and tools and when the Rislone stops working I will change the seals myself.

Hello, I have a '98 honda CRV and I noticed smoke coming out my tailpipe for a few months but payed it no mind. I thot it was maybe normal for a 20yr old car to smoke every now & then. My CRV had alot of issues at the time like a pwr steering leak & a coolant leak as well. I guess you can say that I seriously neglected my ride... Anyways I got the coolant leak fixed at a local shop and was happy about that until the mechanics pointed out that my valve seals were leaking which was causing the blue smoke, and that my CRV needed a top end overhaul, and I also needed to replace my steering rack and pinion. I didn't have the money or the time to down my vehicle for repairs at the time so I figured "why not?". So I purchased a $17 bottle of the Bar's Leak Valve Seal repair and poured it in. I didn't notice anything significant at first. The smoke did decrease alittle within the first 3 weeks, but it was still very visible especially in trafik. So I thot the damage to my seals were too extensive for this "snake oil"... It has been 2 months now since I poured it in my engine and the smoke is completely gone! I guess it just needed time to recondition the valve seals. I'm surprised to say that this stuff REALLY WORKS... AMAZING!
FYI: I also used AT-205 Reseal on my power steering system and that also worked! (But that's another long & interesting story LoL!) Now because of these "Mechanic in a bottle" products, my vehicle is no longer leaking any fluids! I would definitely recommend these products to anybody and everybody who can't afford the time or money for costly shop repairs...

It worked for me (engine oil leak stop), in about 100km. Unexpected. Oil light at idle, ok I will get some of this. Meanwhile I checked and found the oil pressure switch was seeping oil and thus faulty so planned to replace it because this was causing a false low pressure. Well I LoL when I noticed later that the oil light stopped coming on. The Rislone had obviously sealed the leak in the Oil Pressure Sensor membrane or seal, in about 100km. I was totally surprised. Will still replace the sensor.

      Hi Zack,
Your vehicle is a good candidate for the Rislone Oil Seal product (used to be named Rislone Valve Seal) the oil capacity for your vehicle is 6.5L, therefore one bottle should do the trick, however, if you're still experiencing symptoms you can add an additional 80-100mls to your oil.

If it works well, I do NOT need to worry about my 2000 Corolla that recently turned 300?K miles and produces a bluish smoke at startup and low speeds .... I got 2 small bottles of RISLONE to see the results.

I bought this product, and I haven't used it, but plan to use it at the next oil change. It can't change the configuration of the plastic of the seals, so I suspect it will lay a temporary layer on the, a film, that might work for a while, but I think this will need to be repeated every oil change, or about every oil change (0-30). We'll see...
