    awesome video!
i want to add that if you have blue smoke on deceleration (letting off the gas pedal) it’s another sign your valve seals or guides are worn. letting off throttle causes a vacuum on the intake side, drawing oil through worn seals.
    also check your spark plugs!
worn valve guides will usually accumulate oil on only one side of spark plugs.
if spark plugs are entirely covered in oil, this indicates piston rings.
that’s all i know on blue smoke, hope this helps someone.

I went for automotive tech but it was a joke man. 30 mins of “class time” where we we’re actually educated and the other 6.5 hrs was shop work where the instructors would only come out if they had a side job they were making money off of while exploiting the student’s free (to the instructors) labor and eagerness to work on something. I only stayed long enough to get certified to use a multi meter. I learned more in this video than I did spending 1500$ on one semester of school lol all it’s good for is the paper that says you sat through it all or as they call it “certification”.
My truck actually went out on me coming home from school so obviously I just had it towed to the school. I did enough deducting to narrow it down to either blown head gasket or intake manifold gasket, but when I came to the instructors for some input or directions, all they said was “check the spark plugs” no context or anything but I was way past that and they wouldn’t even come look at it or anything, so I ended up having to drop out…
“I had to drop out of automotive school because my truck broke down” sounds really fucking dumb without context lol

@@TIMTIM-xm5pr yes, the oil is definitely coming in from the vacuum lines off of the valve covers not just the PCV but the other vacuum lines on the other head. The baffling in the valve cover that is supposed to only allow Blow by gases to pass isn’t working and allowing oil to pass as well. I found oil saturating my air filter, and in the intake tube and in the intake manifold. I installed two catch can reservoirs. One for each valve cover. They fill up after a couple weeks. I probably should just replace the valve covers, if I can find them. My car is 30 years old. I hope this helps

My Seat Leon MK2 doesn't have rough rpm but has a small pending rpm at coldstart, after the coldstart goes down (15-20 sec) then idle is good. White smoke comes out even when warm. I don't see any waterleak because it is on same level all the time. I know these EA888 gen 2 engines have issues, but what I experience doesn't match with what I experience. Ok I’m confused, based on my compression test, it’s the valve seals - I did a leak down test and still had no compression after doing dry compression test.
150-150-0-150 compression test readings (cyl. 3 is dead)
    - it’s burning oil constantly
I replaced the pcv - it was faulty from day 1 - I believe it’s what caused the blown valve seals on cyl. 3 from too much oil pressure. (intake manifold was full of oil when I replace the pcv)
Engine is 2.0l Cobalt SS Turbo LNF - has 20k kms - prior history of blown valve seals
    Thoughts?

What I don't quite understand with these oil consumption issues are if the catch can isn't catching much oil from the PCV and you have no smoke from the exhaust where is all the oil going? I have a Mini R58 N14 engine which has all the classic symptoms of high oil consumption (1 quart per 500 miles or so) but no smoke, little oil in the catch can and no oil leaks so where is it going? If it is going out the exhaust which is the only place that makes any sense why has my catalytic convertor not been destroyed or thrown an error and how do I pass yearly emissions tests? - I give up!!

Unfortunately this does not apparently cover all scenarios :( . I have a mower that loves to burn oil, but how much it smokes seems to depend on orientation of the mower or where I am in the yard, don't always notice clouds, usually they aren't there right when it starts up, but they seem intermittent... I guess it must be burning it all the time though because I throw half a quart in and sand blast the spark plug for that cylinder every single time I mow. Guess I need to visually inspect those valve seals first, that's the low hanging fruit.

Do you recommend any quick fix for valve stem seal ?

You can get additives that make the seals swell, but it's not a permanent fix.

If your car is a diesel with DPF, can we see smoke on the exhaust too?
(some say that the DPF catches all the smoke an then we cannot diagnose if the problem is piston rings, or turbocharger)

I've got a n54 engine in my 335i and it does not smoke on cold start but after driving the car if I switch it off then come back to it again and switch it on, it starts smoking white smoke for a few minutes but does eventually clear and go. Usually does it for about 5 mins. It is using a lot of engine oil too and does smell like oil burning when it's smoking. I do have downpipes but still have secondary cats. Any ideas what it could be. I've tried seal conditioner but no luck

If oil ring is bad, should there be blue smoke? Or not always?

What if the car doesn’t smoke at all but still consumes oil? Can you help me with that

That was actually helpful. Thank you. But the weird accent and the six million times "guys" was a bit hard to listen to.

Well it seems my piston rings are bad 🤦🏻‍♂️I get little to none on start up but after a bit of driving when I let off the gas a puff of blue smoke releases
