- My bride and I spent two days enjoying the Hawken Classic event at the Nathan Boone Home near Defiance Missouri. This is the second of four annual events honoring the 200th anniversary of the Hawken Brother's Gun Shop located in St Louis Missouri - 1825.

From San Jose CA I like your Hawken rifle video, I have two. Cabela's Hawken and a CVA Hawken rifle plus a CVA lone wolf. Had for 27 year's. that's only rifle's My wife likes. She's hates Ar 15 rifle's , I like all videos. And thank you for all your hard to make those videos.

If the rain didn't happen, I was planning on showing a lot more black powder shooting!
Back in the 90s I taught Boy Scouts black powder rifle skills. I had a Hawken that had been donated as my rifle. I loved that gun. It was accurate and so much fun to shoot. I tried to buy it but they wouldn't sell. That was many years ago but I still have those great memories. My program awarded the Long Hunter Certificate to the Scouts who learned to shoot accurately. It was great fun for all.
Wish they had a similar program when I was in the BSA back in the 70's. We weren't that fortunate.

That's what matters...as long as you're shooting black powder, it doesn't get much better than that.

First it was great to finally meet you. It really is a great event that will end in 2025 with the official 200 anniversary of the Hawken rifles. Sorry about the weather, but we stayed wet for Friday (sweat) and Saturday ( monsoon) 😅. Your video was great and I really enjoyed it ,and was representative of all that occurred. That would be a bummer for sure! TX is a pretty big state to travel through..
Really nice to see a Horace Dimmick rifle at 2:48, given that Horace Dimmick outfitted the 66th Illinois, also known as Birge's Western Sharpshooters. I have that same matchlock musket at 9:39, one of the most fun guns I have to shoot. To me the highlight is still getting the chance to shoot an original Hawken rifle. Opportunities like that come along so rarely.
Yes, that is rare treat ( shooting an original Hawken ) for those that attends this shoot.

Thanks Mark. I enjoyed this last year and it was great again. this year. Hawkens are my favorite rifle and always have been. How did you like the Kibler Woodsrunner and did you get a chance to shoot it off hand. I just got one and am looking forward to shooting it. BigAl52
I only shot the Woodsrunner once on camera. That was one sweet shooting gun!
