What a moving story about Rafael Venezuela - I do hope I have spelt it correctly. And how lovely of his daughter to write to you and tell you the difference you made to her father’s life. That’s something you’ll always be able to fall back on, on those occasions when you spill your coffee all over the car, and the new ECU doesn’t fix it, and you wonder why you ever became an auto diagnostician.
It’s a wonderful, moving story, and kind of you to let us all in on it. I think every one of us can relate to it.
    Thank you so much, Paul.

@@ScannerDanner Yes, indeed, Paul; I’m a long-standing Premium member, and proud to be so! The stuff I’ve learned - theory and practice, and the confidence I have gained to apply that knowledge - is worth at least a thousand times the cost of Premium membership. And I’m just a hobbyist!
I studied engineering at university and later took an Open University module in digital and analogue electronics, but it’s only since I became a Premium member that the fundamentals really started to make sense.

I had the same issue on a 2008 Buick Enclave, I scoped both injector and coil powers. When the injectors dropped out, so did the coils, but only set the injector codes. I found that the screws that held the connectors to the bottom of the fuse box were stripped. I ended up putting cardboard underneath of the connectors then snapped in the fuse box and it cured the issue. That was several months ago. By the way, this is my wife's car.

I hate working for free too, but there have been times that I didn’t; but those rare occasions.
Last time I let someone go the came came in for an intermittent check engine light, P0300.
Ran the basics in 20 minutes.
    Unsold brakes
Explained to the customer the situation that the care has great history, everything is new, and gave them a form to fill out next time the check engine light appears.
I further explained that if I continue diag I will charge for my time and the chances of finding something is slim.
Customer returned two days later and I identified the problem. Looking at the worksheet I gave her turned out the boyfriend was using a OBD2 data logger for his job.
    Always think outside the box
I did lose diag time but I won a customer for life. She has since brought all her cars to my shop and only trusts my judgment.

I wanted to advise you to look along the wires to the injectors as, if one of them shorts to ground, all will lose power and the code will appear. The fuse will also blow or the pins will become loose if the short is very short (in time) and the fuse doesn't have time to blow but the pins get melted a bit.
Now that I've seen the end of the video I understand there must be something else.
Nice video anyway. I waited for one like this for a long time already.

When you don't have much direction to work with on such an intermittent problem, you'd might as well pull and plug all the fuses and relays a few times to eliminate that as the problem. Check any easily accessible pertinent connectors and grounds too. Don't cloud your mind with too much doubt about everything. If the problem persists, you can then start a proper diagnosis with a clearer head. It's not always useful to spend stupid time and money to prove that the problem was just a poor connection at the pin of a relay.

Been there with this one, power distribution schematic will show the trans range sensor in the curcuit as well then you will question Mitchell's competency

So I had a case earlyer this with the same kinda van. I ran the same test then removed the fuze box and opened it and it was burned inside the fuze box same fault code but mine was not intermittent so sold a fuze box then found the tsbs on this problem

I agree with the logic that it's not likely to have the same problem across all 4 separate wires, so it must be upstream from there-- which would be the fuse box/ fuse.

Looks like at the end you need to apply parking brake while in gear in the low voltage condition.
