Pin clutch

Clutch for small-size eccentric presses.
The big pulley rotates continuously. For connecting the clutch push down the violet pedal to allow the pin come into contact with curve slots on the pulley under the pink spring's force.
The spring for return the pedal after pushing is not shown.
Keep pushing down the pedal to make the crankshaft rotate continuously.

The crank would keep turning not the pulley. So when you connect that mechanism to the crank (that pedal you’re demonstrating) it would either break it off from the running force of the engine, or shut the engine off.

There is a brake for the blue crank (not shown in this video) so the crank stops as soon as the pin is removed from the pulley.
The pin is made of quality heat-hardened steel, so it is very resistant to impact.

These clutches are very common for mechanical presses.
The pin clutches are for presses up to 12 tons.
The rotary key clutches are for presses under 100 tons.
