  • Finally, I will be using the ZF4hp22 transmission as it fits better in the truck and will make for a nicer driving truck in the end hopefully!

I Must admit that I love the way that you do things mostly without having the proper kit to do it I used to be quite good at stick welding but like everything I tend to take a long time doing it place that I worked at many years ago on some jobs they even X-rayed all of the welds even if they look good it does not mean that it is a strong weld your welds do not look very pretty but it does the job that is all that matters in the end.

thanks! Yeah gotta watch out for that.. sometimes it can just be a nice surface bead haha

This project is so cool. Would love to do the same on my discovery but don't have a shop as nice and big as yours. Maybe one day.
Little tidbit using a reamer, they like lots of lube and to be run really slow. Like 20% the speed of a typical drill of that size. Makes them last way longer and always give you a nice surface finish.

Definitely grateful to have access to a nice garage! It’s a game changer. For the reamer, It only fits in the hand drill so the only option was the slow speed, not much control over that, but will take note of it for sure ;)

Stroke of genius using the plastic! Stick welding looking good from here, should be bombproof! I wish I had a plasma cutter, I've seen a laser cutter/welder and the speed is amazing! :)

Yeah the precision on lasers cutters is insane ! Super clean cuts

Some really good basic engineering skills there Sir well done. Kids should watch these videos.
Oh and if the welding does the job its a good weld and I am pretty sure that adaptor will do the job very well.
Good to see you have gone with removing the vac / fuel pump.

I’ve seen a lot worse welding than that bud. I once worked with a guy started his welding career as a welders helper (labourer) and after many years of this did a welding test and scraped through. While welding on a very important job which they all were, they tend not to like oil rigs falling apart, anyway a welding inspector stopped him and told him that his work was atrocious and that he would no longer be employed as a welder, his answer was if I can show you a weld worse than that one can I keep my job, the inspector said well yes, so the bold lad took him to another piece that had been done before and pointed to a weld that wouldn’t have looked out place on a grape vine, the horrified inspector agreed that the weld was indeed worse and asked who had done it, Jimmy replied oh that was me 2 days ago 😂 and he was instantly demoted back being a helper and spent the rest of his days grinding up welds. There were more than one funny guy that came out of the Glasgow ship yards and I worked with a lot of them!!!

Hey Ludi, I like your innovative way of "tracing" out the bell housing mounting bolts and dowels, you have very good skills and youthful enthusiasm, good work...

Hi Ludi. Came across your video from mikes at brittannia. Having just installed a volvo 760 diesel with zf into a disco2 youll need a hi stall torque converter to keep the tdi in the power band. I used the volvo torque converter in the conversion I did. Do some research as the tdi alh likes 3000rpm.

Wow that's a cool project! I heard the medium size torque converter should be okay but i'll definetly have to see once I get it driving!

Pretty soon! Other wise just click on the link in the description of my last video. It’s a little recap vid of the build where I drive it around!
