Todd Turns On Toys, Loads His Puzzle Box, And Invents Fetch - Can You Believe Todd Did This?! Part 4

- This is the 4th part of a multi-part series on some amazing things Todd has done. I have always felt and believed that cats are far smarter than we give them credit for. I only teach Todd single words and their meanings/concepts. In Part 1 I showed how, on his own, Todd started using two, three, and four words to make kitty sentences for his requests and how he asked me to make him a toy. In part 2 I showed Todd is able to use words in ways he was not taught to ask for and tell me things demonstrating an understanding of the words and concepts. In part 3 I show where Todd knows what time of day it is (Morning, Afternoon, and Evening) and what comes next in the day (Now Morning, Later Evening). Todd will tell me what he wants to play now and then will let me know what he wants to do when I get home in the evening. Todd understands Now is now, Soon means he will get it within 15 minutes and later means it will be longer than 15 minutes.
In this video, Todd shows he can learn just by observing me. A few days after he got his Whirly Toy and watching me turn it on he decided he could do it himself. A few days after he got his Jingle Ball I decided to drop it in his puzzle box and he loved it. I only had to do it 3 or 4 times and he started putting it in by himself. Finally the next day he decided it would be more fun if he brought the Jingle Ball back to me so I could throw it again.
Todd is a 6-year-old neutered male cat at the time of this video. Todd and his dad have been learning to communicate with each other since May of 2022 with the help of recordable buttons. We aim to let Todd express himself and tell me his wants and needs. Currently, Todd has 45 words on his soundboard. This channel is dedicated to Todd learning to “talk”. If you would like to see more of Todd and his day-to-day life please visit his Facebook page.

I love the fact that he puts the effort in. He doesn’t try once and yell for Dad if it doesn’t work out, he works at the problem until it’s sorted!
Yes, he does!
I'm wondering if Glamour is jealous? I have 4 competitive cats that fully engage in fighting over the various toys and games. 😊
If all cats were as smart as Todd, humans would be in real trouble!
Agreed
In fact, humans are already in real trouble.
Not if they where as loving as Todd too, he's not just smart but the sweetest most loveable cat.
For real, we'd be in trouble if they had opposable thumbs...!
My cat loves his whirly but it hasn’t occurred to him that he could turn it on himself, even though I show him how. Sigh. He’s no Todd.
And there's nothing wrong with that. They are all individuals with their own personalities and gift.
Be patient and keep trying. Your cat will surprise you one day!
Or he's a cat and turns it for himself when you're out, but sees no reason to exert himself when he has you to handle menial tasks! 😂
Yeah, but would he bother to turn it off when done? Be careful what you wish for. Lol!
He's not only smart, but also gentle and well behaved. 😍
He really is. He is the bestest boy.
...And generous to a fault, especially with Glamour.
I've read in several places that Tuxedo Cats are smarter than the average cat... But, Todd is exceptionally intelligent...
His ability to understand concepts, like space and time, plus using his buttons/words to form short sentences, are just mind boggling.
It is. He continues to amaze me
Looking at my Tuxedo not all
Todd is determined to work things out for himself instead of expecting Dad to do it for him. I love watching Todd work things out. 😻
So true!
I can see why you started teaching him buttons! A cat this smart definitely needs an outlet!
I'm pretty sure he was a bit bored before.
You can definitely see that it makes him very happy, so Jackson Galaxy is definitely wrong about this when it comes to a cat like Todd at least, I can only see that he's driving because of the buttons and that it has made his world bigger and enriched his life, not just humans but many animals want to learn and have new experiences too.
I have never seen a cat just push a toy on by themselves without anyone at least teaching them how to do it and then he just suddenly decided I want to play fetch like dogs. Todd sure is an exceptional cat. He's solving problems and seems to love it too, should be called professor Todd haha. His love for Glamour is absolutely adorable too even if she's too good for him.
😊
His drive to observe and want to do things that "dad" does, shows how invested he is in your relationship.
It reminds me of young children that follow their fathers around the house as they do different tasks or chores... and the child always want to "help".... then
eventually, they want to try to do the tasks themselves.
That mixed with his ability to customize how he uses the buttons to get certain thoughts/requests or needs communicated is nothing short of amazing.
You definitely have a savant kitty.
🧠😻
I agree, he is a special kitty.
Wow, Todd is next-level smart! Putting his jingle ball in his puzzle toy himself? Then waiting patiently for Glamour to get some attention and even a turn playing with his favorite new toy??? I'm impressed! Is there a Mensa for Cats? Todd could be president. 🧠😺
😊
Some cats are way smarter than people think. It takes time and observation to pick up on the depth and complexity of their intelligence. You are getting dialed into Todd's ability and pace. It's very cool to see how his mind works. I'm amazed to and I just love him for his sweetness.
Thank you 😊
Watching him load and play with his puzzle box is just like watching a human play Wordle or Sudoku.
Kind of, yes.
Todd is amazing.. and limitless. We won’t be surprised if he’ll be beating you at completing a Suduko puzzle soon, and asking Glamour for kisses!! 😂
😄
Glamour just doesn't understand that she's snubbing the Einstein of the cat world. 😂
LOL! Glamour feels she's the Queen Elizabeth of the cat world! 👑👑👑
😄
True, she should have been called Diva
😂😂😂
What is the story behind Glamour (also Paulie)? Do you work with them as well--to teach them communication with language buttons?
I can’t wait until Todd learns how to use the computer! 😻 How soon will cats learn to take over the world?! They already have willing slaves. 🥰😆
😁
Oh gosh, Todd is so smart! He has a good teacher, since he already knew that pushing a button gets him words, it was easier for him to successful at getting the whirly to spin. Thank you for posting these videos!
You are very welcome
I truly feel so lucky to get to witness this. Todd is one of the smartest cats I've ever seen- but it does beg the question, how much more would we get to see into the workings of other cats minds if they too, used buttons and how much would our perception regarding their intelligence change? Make no mistake about it, Todd is truly exceptional, but I do wonder how much differently we would view all cats if we had a better understanding of their minds. Sending love to Todd, Pauly and Glamour and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Not just cats, I have always felt that most animals are smarter than we give them credit for.
There are so many animals using these buttons now! 😁😃 Its been amazing to see not only cats and dogs, but chickens, horses, and even guinea pigs expressing their thoughts.
@@InAHollowTree That's awesome!! It's so fascinating seeing how their minds work.
I second your statement in a big way 😊
Smart, smart Todd. And then there's Glamour. Good thing she's pretty. 🤣
😊
😂😂Awww poor Glamour, we're really having a laugh at her expense today!
She's the Queen of the house though and she knows it.
@@soonmoo614 Just poking a bit of gentle fun. 😉
She's so loving I'm sure if she decides to entertain the buttons we would also see her rich personality.
@@The_Joy_Finder Would love for her and Paulie to use them. ☺
HE IS SO SMART
Thank you 😊
Great job giving intellectual stimulation to Todd. ❤
Thank you
He is one amazing cat. I would hide your credit card though or you might come home to a box with 144 jingle balls and a large bunch of catnip with a love note for Glamour
😅
Dad needs to hide his keys!
😄
Amazing game of fetch. You can almost see his brain working things out.
I know, and it and it is fascinating to watch.
Todd enjoying his enrichment and Glamur not pawing for anything as she is a DIVA🤣😊
🤣
Todd is really amazing. And Glamour just sitting there at the end watching you boys play. LOL. Todd certainly picked the right human that fateful day at the shelter. 🙂
I am so glad he did!
Todd is a Very smart little guy..I enjoy cats that like to figure things out and how to work them.
Yes, and he does it on his own.
He's so smart, the little guy!
I love watching him learning how the toys work.
He's using his brain and ultimately solves the problem.
A thinking cat, without a doubt!
Thank you 😊
Todd is such an adorable smarty pantaloons kitty kitty!!!❤
Thank you 😊
Todd is amazing! I love that he has the buttons and the toys to entertain his active mind.
Thank you
Todd obviously loves to figure things out and play with puzzles, games, and toys. He's probably so attached to the Jingle Ball because he learned to play fetch with it when he was bored and wanted to play a new game. You can tell he's very bright.
He is, but how he knows within a second or two of me throwing it is impressive. I am leaning towards color now that makes a Jingle Ball
I love watching Todd. He such a sweet boy. Can you please tell me where did you get his puzzle box?
www.chewy.com/dp/506178?
Thank you for your quick reply.
I have a cat who "invented" fetch too. He doesn't play it as much anymore.
Todd is so precious though. I love how smart he is. Thank you for continuing to share this journey with us.
Thank you and you're welcome!
I love Todd! He is such a smart kitty! He is very special! ❤❤
I agree. Thank you
He’s a beautiful boy full of love playfulness and doing things his way.. great video
Thank you 😊
He is a clever boy. I think I am most amazed at his creating the Fetch game without any coaching from you. Also he is so sweet with Glamour, stopping so she gets her pets and an offer to play. Luckily for Todd, she is not interested.
Thanks for complying these collections! It makes us eager to see what Todd will master next!
😊 thank you
Todd is such a smart and sweet baby ❤️🐾😻
Thank you 😊
The fact that he sets his own puzzles is amazing. Really shows that he likes it. Generally, he seems to be a cat up for a challenge. That's likely a big part of why he's *so* ridiculously good at buttons.
Does Glamour interact with the buttons at all? - I noticed she is much more chatty, at least in this video. Is that generally true, was it always the case, or did Todd's chattiness (in terms of meows) change with the introduction of buttons?
Todd's meows have increased a little. Glamour's meows are the same. She is a talker. Glamour and Paulie do not have any interest in the buttons.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalksIt is an interesting observation, I will assume that you have tried to train the other cats too but they refused to use the buttons. I suspect the reason is that cats are very territorial (they know it is Todd's buttons and/or they might sense the smell of him on that) so maybe get some new buttons for the other cats to see if that is the case. Worth a try perhaps?
Edit: Probably for each cat have their own dedicated space/location also due to territorial behaviors.
@KimTiger777 I have tried teaching them and even giving them their own boards, but they want nothing to do with it.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalksOkay so that means that we can rule out territorial behaviors, so perhaps it is a personality thing (?). Could it be that some cats are just more curious than others. I had hoped that we humans could get most cats to communicate like Todd are doing. I must say that I am impressed by how much Todd is interacting with you, which is quite unique as I only know of 2 cats that are currently communicates with buttons, as this is a new unexplored field. You are blessed with a very special cat. 🐱
He is a smart cat ❤❤❤❤
Thank you 😊
People always associate the game of fetch with dogs, but cats understand it too! My lovely tabby Maggie figured this out on her own when she was less than a year old. I think cats instinctively know this one and Todd is pretty smart anyway.
Glamour did it too when she was younger
Wow 😮 such a smart and handsome boy. ❤
Thank you 😊
Dad, you are the one being trained. I think Todd has given you B+.
I'm good with that :)
If you put a Fetch button he may eventually start saying "fetch food" 😂
🤣
I love Todd so much!
Aww, thank you so much 😊
I watched this one with my black and white cat, Abby-Lu in my arms and she was very interested, never took her eyes off the screen. Not that she learned anything I'm sure, but she definitely knew Todd and Glamour were cats doing stuff. For her, I'm impressed just a little. She is not whatever it is that Todd really is (a little person in a cat suit! lol) But it did hold her attention for the whole video. Keep 'em coming Todd, you're amazing!!
Thank you 😊
I have 4 cats, and I received my 6 button kit this week. I don’t have a very devoted or play oriented cat like Todd, so I’m not sure how to begin. The woman who trained her ginger cat Justin Bieber offers good advice! He knows 40 words. 😻
What every you cat loves or wants(other than food) is a great place to start. Pets, cuddles, etc.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalksthanks, I’m not sure why I’m procrastinating. Todd sets a high bar 😆
Todd is so darn smart and a joy to watch
Aww, thank you
I need a puzzle toy like that for my 4mo kitten! Where can i get it? My little terror loves sticking her paws through holes, around corners & into sink drains. This would be perfect!
I don't know about buying one, but you should be able to cut holes in a cardboard box to see if the principle works for your kitty before buying anything.

Smart boy ❤
Thank you 😊
Todd’s a very smart boy.😊
Thank you 😊
Todd must be the smartest vat on Earth! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you 😊
Todd is (probably) impressed about how quickly his Dad Learns new Tricks. (So we see Here that, for Glamour, Todd's Jingle Ball is just another 'Orb of Sadness.') Almost heartbreaking that Jingle Balls seem to be Pretty Thin On the Ground.
😄
I have only recently found your channel, but I’m watching as many vids as I can!!
Todd is unusually expressive, and I believe you knew that before you got the buttons. I have seen Billi and she is an old girl, but she is definitely using to buttons to get what she wants RIGHT NOW! Or she gets MAD! Todd seems to enjoy telling you what he is thinking, and he presses his buttons rapidly sometimes! But the thing is he is very extraordinary, he is one of those cases that a skeptic will write off bc there is no way a skeptic would be comfortable watching Todd express complex ideas, with limited buttons/words. My guess is they think it’s fake. I do not think it’s fake. I love this!!! Cats are intelligent and they communicate with us in many ways. Most humans don’t pay attention. But Todd’s dad is paying attention!!!! Todd loves you so much!! He just enjoys the ways you interact with him. I think Todd’s intelligence would make skeptical people uncomfortable! You are both incredible! You demonstrate the buttons well and put away items so he asks for them. Todd wants to learn, he is excited about learning. You have recorded all of it and I really love the way you type out the moments leading up to his communication. You have made me a true believer that Todd loves you very much and you love him very much!!!! Thank you for sharing your journey!
Thank you so much for your kind words and I'm glad you are here. Yes, I get all the time that Todd is just press buttons randomly and I try to encourage people to watch a few more videos before jumping to conclusions. That is also why I started fast forwarding so you can see it is one clip and not editing two separate button pushes together. Todd is unusually smart and expressive. We love Billi and she and Kendra are the reasons we got started. Again, thank you and Todd and I are happy you are here!
Todd is such an intelligent and talented 🐈 😻 ❤
Thank you so much
He's such a clever little fellow and such a gentleman, I once saw a Russell video where he asked for playtime for his siblings and I was amazed!
Yes, Todd has asked for toys for Glamour and Paulie. He once asked for kisses for Paulie.
such a smarty pants! I love watching these videos!
So glad!
What an awesome cat. The whirly is a cool toy, I wish it wasn't so loud though 😂
It is on the cardboard but doesn't do the bet on the carpet.
Amazingly smart and a cutie too😂
Thank you 😊
My wife and I have 4 cats. Two are older and the other two are a little over a year old. One of the younger cats has played fetch for about 6 months. He absolutely loves twist ties. The ones you get wrapped around say a power adapter from a cell phone. I connect a couple together to make it longer and he goes nuts chasing after it when I throw it and will bring it back and drop it at my feet over and over until he's totally spent. I had no idea a cat would ever do that.
It is great fun for you both!
Love this 😊 He really is an amazing and special lil guy ❤
Thank you, he is 😊
Wow!!! What a cat.
Thank you
He is just such a cutie. Such a sweet boy..
Thank you
Good job well done both.
Thank you!
my cats taught me to play fetch with them lol. And once we started, they could do it forever. Just a matter of figuring out what they like as a reward for brining it back (other than throwing it again), and my cats liked to get praise and pets.
They like the praise and pets. That is the only reward Todd gets with the buttons. I tell him he did good and sometimes add in pets.
Such a clever boy ❤
Thank you
4:30 That puzzle is not that easy, isn't it? 😀
Not for me, lol
Todd is exceptional! As for my kitty… to get me up in the morning he turns my CPAP machine off. He either wants his breakfast or is trying to kill me.🙄
I have a C-PAP machine too, what a horrible way to wake up!
I'm toddicted!
😊 I love the twrm, that the first time I've heard that one.
Me too
He's _so_ clever!
Thank you 😊
Todd is very smart, that's because he is a Tuxedo kitty, lol, It's usually females that are this smart. I have a big Tabby female that loves to play fetch and she really go's for it. She is our big toy hunter.
😊
Sooooooo clever 😊❤❤❤😸
Thank you 😊
Oh. I feel like such a slowpoke. I just discovered the title "I am Maru" in the book shelf. /facepalm 🤦🏼♂🙄 Such a good reminder of all those episodes with Maru I have watched before.
We love Maru.
Am subd. A true cat lover. Esp when the star Todd(exceptionally intelligent/curious cat allows seamless love pats to others. Most excellent atmosphere for.. who knows next?!
Welcome and I'm glad you are here! Thank you for the kind words and Todd is a special kitty :)
My girlfriend in college got a kitten (about 5 months old) and we were talking about what she should name it and I said "how about 'mere short for come here? Its not like the cat will come, regardless what you name her". We agreed that was funny and the name stuck.
I was a veterinarian's assistant at the time and I had two dogs that I had trained, fairly, well, so I was feeling really confident even a cat could be trained not to chase but to fetch.
Anyway, lss: it took about 5 weeks for the cat to walk all the way back to me and she only played fetch with one thing: the safety seal from a gallon of milk because it rolled and she could chase it. (back then they were circles and not pull)
I love that story.
It’s probably good that Todd doesn’t have thumbs.
Yep. Give Todd a set of thumbs, and he'd quickly run his 'Dad' ragged.
If he had thumbs he would not need Dad.
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalksI make my cat say that about me 😂
Amazing. I find it interesting how Todd checks the Whirly arm before turning on the device. You could argue that he's checking its location knowing that he'll be standing over it once he turns on the device!
I'd say it's time to start intentionally stringing multiple words together? Also, it would be great to see more two-way interactions with Todd. For example, it would be great to see more videos of you acknowledging his button use with replies via the buttons.
I do often reply with buttons. I usually leave that out as these video are already 7ish minutes long and I didn't think people want to see that a human has learned how to use buttons. Lol Seriously though, it's just for time sake I don't include much of it.
Me thinks you need a new button called Fetch!!
Someone else mentioned that too, but that is the only toy he does it with, and he has a Jingle Balls button.
❤
😊
you need a "play fetch" button
Currently, he only does this with his Jingle ball, and he has a Jingle Ball button.
So clever!
Thank you 😊
I know people worry about AI taking over, but it's cats. Cats are going rule the world and Todd will be their leader
😊
With the whirly, at 0:44 he looks down at the feather and it kinda feels to me that he’s making sure he’s not sitting on it before starting the toy.
On BilliSpeaks, they were talking about a programmed Bluetooth switch so that Billi could start and stop the zoom-zoom/whirly with the buttons but Todd skipped that whole step! Did he ever figure out he could also turn it off?
No, he didn't, and I think he believes every toy should be on all the time. Lol.
Thankyou for inspiring me to do clicker training with my two younger cats, they now understand two hand signals, and Oberon is working on his third. Another viewer of your channel also gave me some ideas of how I might manage buttons with my visual impairment, so I am considering doing buttons, maybe next year. I don't know if your link will work here in Australia, but if it does I will use it.
It will work anywhere. I don't know if it will make a difference or not but this weekend only FluentPet is having a 20% sale on 75.00 or more at checkout. Use the code ChattyPets685
Would it be possible to see all of Todd's toys? I can't seem to find much for cat toys. Esp those which would hold my 2 cat's attention. Thanks

Do you work with Glamour and Paulie as well, to teach them language buttons?
Todd is adorable and amazing--but just wondering💕
Neither Glamour nor Paulie has shown any interest in learning to use the buttons. Both Glamour and Paulie will recognize when Todd pushes certain buttons for toys and come to join in. Todd is very sweet and sometimes he knows that Glamour wants to play and will go and push the Bird Toy or Laser Mouse button (the two toys Glamour likes) and just sit back and watch her and let her play without joining in. I have offered in the past and continue to offer the buttons to them but they want nothing to do with it.
Thank you for your reply to my question about Glamour and Paulie! It is true that cats have very different personalities, likes and dislikes. It is so sweet the
way you nourish and care for your sweet fur babies purr babies!
💕😻
lol I'd love to know what goes on in Glamour's mind, sometimes. Does she wonder why Todd speaks the human language, I wonder.
I'm not sure I want to know. She is an older cat and I'm pretty sure it would be the equivalent of you kids get off my lawn. Lol
It looks like you put a dot of white on his whirly on/off switch. I am slowly buying all Todd’s toys. Didn’t realize how important play is.
I have not added any anything to the Whirly other than the orange worm at the end on the wand.
Is it possible that loading an Orb of Sadness into the puzzle box will transform it into a jingle ball?
Great idea, but no. I have tried that.
I fear Todd cannot be stopped, much like AI
I had a cat that loved to play fetch. She only liked a certain type of ball that was attached to another toy, but she would carry the balls. I cut them off and she loved them so much. I looked for replacements but couldn't find any.
I have not been able to find a replacement for the Jingle ball yet. 😒 I know what it's like.
I once had a cat that I know would have been capable of these things had it been available twenty or so years ago. It may well have been for all I am aware, but anyway, he (and no offense to cats everywhere for my analogy) was like a dog. He knew his name, would come when called, played fetch, had a jolly disposition, loved belly rubs (more than "exactly two before he'd bite the shit out of you as per protocol" ~Sad Cat Diary, by ZeFrank) and he just didn't have that "stuck up" cat persona you'd stereotype cats to have. I was sad when I did my brother a favor and did a long-term keeping of his dog, while he found a permanent situation for himself, who was VERY loyal to him and him alone, and had a deep instinct to chase anything smaller than her that moved. Not good. I was not aware of this prior to agreeing to this arrangement.
Sabbath (kitty) was allowed to come and go as he pleased which he usually kept to the property, but he like to climb the tree outside. I felt it only right that he be allowed to do so given the circumstances of the time. He'd even made a small cat door for himself in my slider screen so he could go out without my assistance (the turd LOL) so I left it for him for the time being. But it only took a couple more incidences of the dog chasing him for him to never come back home. I feel really awful about it. The dog was also a bit of an escape artist herself. She could scale a 9 foot block wall, so he'd really have to go far to get away from her. I didn't have a crate for her and had never crate trained a dog that I didn't really realize it to even be an option at the time, but I don't believe she'd have taken to it well anyhow, now that I am well versed on this. She was never our dog and made that very clear every day she was only waiting for him to come get her.
Despite my pleas to my brother to please get his dog, the situation was not working out for us, we had her a year. Got tickets for not being able to keep her inside the yard because she was always looking for him, had to get her spayed and licensed at our expense, neighbors constantly calling animal control for her wall walking antics. And my baby boy was not to be seen again. I'd see him in the neighborhood blocks and blocks away from time to time and tried to lure him back but he was done with me. Then sightings just stopped.
I hope someone took him in and gave him a home. He really was the coolest cat ever. He even looked like Todd, but was all black, hence the name Sabbath. I had one stereotypical snooty cat after him that could NOT be kept inside. She'd go out and get into trouble, and her escape was very slick-like when I'd pull the dog door shutter open to let my (not bro's) dog outside and she would slip under the dog to sync her exit with the dog. Smarty pants. She must have ingested some venomous critter of which there are many in Las Vegas, because I found an otherwise healthy cat lying in the rocks we have for "lawns" here in vegas, not long after I shuffled her back outside for hacking up what I thought were just hairballs at the time, now struggling to breathe 20 minutes later after I had finished washing the dishes until she ultimately could not do it anymore.
I couldn't take the heartbreak of it and swore off cats. The chances of getting another Sabbath are slim and that would be the one thing, if I could be guaranteed it would be a similar kitty to Sabbath in personality. Though I have come across a few sweet, outgoing personalities at the "Animal Foundation" animal shelter I used to volunteer at. (I no longer do, due to a couple incidences I believe they really dropped the ball and made some questionable decisions that really hurt . Low kill? BullSh**). But my husband, in his smart ass way, would say, "Oh yeah! You know what this house is missing? A box of crap in the shower! --- SAID NOBODY EVER--- Uh, no." lol Fine. Point taken.
And now that I have written a novel as if anyone really gives a sh** what I have to say about anything (lol) if you made it this far through the TL'DR I commend you. But I really wish this had been a developed concept 20 years ago. I may have been able to work out something with my boy to assure him his safety and might have even taken better steps to make him feel it had I been more aware of the situation from his perspective. This give-and-take banter you two have is quite precious and I'm envious of the two of you. l may even look into teaching my dog Betty. She's quite smart and would likely grasp it quickly, as well. But like a lot of have already said across several comment sections of your videos, it has opened my eyes to pet communication and I considered myself a good study of body language particularly in dogs, as I had a bit of a trouble case not long ago. Taught me a lot. This, however, is invaluable by orders of magnitude. Appreciate you sharing your journey with it. I'll be watching. :) (Hope that didn't sound creepy. I'll be watching. LOL)
You are very welcome for the videos, and I am glad you are here. I, too, had a cat a long time ago who would have been great with the buttons. I'm sorry your kitty ran away after your brothers dog chased it, but since he was a smart boy, I bet he found somewhere and someone to let him in.
So how many times does that cat turn on the TV?
None......yet 😁
Did you make the puzzle box? It doesn’t look like it’s available on Amazon? Can’t see what it does.
I have a cat, Kuala, a different cat that fetches balls but he isn’t the one using the buttons. The one of my cats, Shamu, using the buttons also likes puzzles and hidden toys but I’ve never seen him imitating something we have done for him like Todd is working out here. He does open doors to cabinets and we had to put a lock on the refrigerator door as it would be standing an inch open in the morning. So it might be similar in his puzzle and imitation abilities as Todd, but I’ve not noticed him working out a solution quite this way. That is a great puzzle box for Todd, might look for that for my Shamu.
I also have a Bose alarm clock with a single button on top, that all of my cats know how to turn on and off so even though they don’t all use the buttons they do understand the button actuation. Don’t know why it is just the one cat talking when they all can use the buttons.
All of my cats do understand the words being modeled, so I agree there are many cats who may have the abilities beyond what we expect! The buttons were first done with dogs but clearly there are many animals who have the cognitive capacity for words!
They all have their own games and things they like to do. 😊
Here is a link to the puzzle box. Your pet will love this Frisco Interactive Wooden Cat Toy Box with Catnip:

Thanks for the link. Oh it’s on Chewy’s! I have an account for my 😊😅😅cats Urinary RX food but never looked at their toys!
Does glamour ever use the buttons? Or just todd?
We have 3 cats, Todd, Glamour, and Paulie. Neither Glamour nor Paulie has shown any interest in learning to use the buttons. Both Glamour and Paulie will recognize when Todd pushes certain buttons for toys and come to join in. Todd is very sweet sometimes and he knows that Glamour wants to play and will go and push the Bird Toy or Laser Mouse button (the two toys Glamour likes) and just sit back and watch her and let her play without joining in. I have offered in the past and continue to offer the buttons to them but they want nothing to do with it.
Breaking news! Cat teaches human to play fetch!
If you said the word fetch before each time you threw it, then gave him a fetch button, I wonder if he'd ask for that game.
I don't think I would want to limit Fetch to just the Jingle Ball, That's all he wants to fetch now but he might want to do more in the future,
@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks By saying the word before you throw only shows him what the game is called. You can then switch items and simply say fetch before throwing the new item to re-associate. I'm just wondering if he'd grasp the concept.
Years ago I had a kitten who loved to play fetch too. I never taught him to, I simply threw something far away one day to mostly get him out of my hair for a bit. Boy was I surprised when he dropped the item at my feet and kept doing it. We started with a crumpled paper ball, but after a while it didn't matter what I threw (stuffed mouse, ball of string, rolled up sock), just the act of me whipping it across the room would send him into a frenzied chase mode and he'd always bring it back. We never had buttons, but he totally understood the word "fetch".
Have you tried teaching Glamour or Paulie?

All the more special Todd is then, it seems :-) thanks for replying@@TheChroniclesofToddToddTalks
@@user-bv2ji1ih4n I look at it this way. It's like I am asking 3 of my friends if they would like to learn Latin. One thinks that would be cool and we start. The other two want nothing to do with it. I can keep asking them but they don't want to learn or put the effort into a foreign language. You have to want to do it.
Glamour makes me laugh. She's kind of jealous of the relationship between you and Todd. She truthfully doesn't want THAT relationship, but she doesn't see it and doesn't forge her own based on her needs and what she likes. She's sort of a metaphor for a lot of humans who are jealous of someone with something they don't have, but don't have the insight to see that it isn't what the other person has that they want. It's the happiness they see the other person experiencing that they want and they need to figure out what would give THEM that same joy or contentment.
And I offer everything Todd has to both Glamour and Paulie. Glamour want to sit next to me on the couch and be petted. That and play a few games she likes. That is all.
I wish my cat was smart enough to bring a jingle ball back to me 🥹
She has traded her smartness for a big heart I guess.
She may be smarter than you think, and if not, that's a good trade.
All I can think about every time I watch one of your videos is "what a miracle"!✨🤍🤍🤍🤍🥹
I agree, he's a blessing.

Thank you
