the crowes are one of my favorite bands that I discovered and experienced live in the 80s. Check out their 2000 tour with Jimmie Page, that was really great. Greetings @all from Hamburg (germany)
I started playing guitar around 1989-90, this was one of my favorite groups, and I practically learned guitar off this song.
This is 2008 (+-) and they recorded this in 1989 on their 1st album.
This was about a year before Chris and Kate Hudson divorced.
I saw them back in the '90s in Mesa Az. Great show. His on-stage charisma marvels Steven Tyler. ❤

One of the best songs ever - I love this track and The Black Crowes are amazing, loved the passion comparisons to Joe and Janis. Those two along with SRV are my "passion trio" but I agree Harri that Chris deserves a seat at that rare table! Great suggestion Adam! Sometimes Salvation is a powerful and moving song!
Watch the live on David Letterman version of Joe Cocker's "FEELING ALL RIGHT" by the Crowes. It was one of shows best live numbers in a long time.

That's awesome that you chose a live version of this tune. the original is fine, but it didn't have Marc Ford or Ed Harsch on it. By '94-'95 they were playing these slower-than-the-original versions, so between that and what Marc and Eddie added to this tune, the live versions are so so so good.
This was America’s greatest ever live band. Many will argue otherwise, but you just can’t argue with the power they presented on stage. The playing, the performing, and above all, the singing. A master class.

Maybe another similarity to Chris Robinson of the Black Crows that Harri was searching for, could have been Robert Plant? In 2000 the Black Crows and Jimmy Page released a live album of Led Zeppelin covers, and blues classics from the Greek Theater in LA. A great collaboration.

Thanks Harri. This is a Crowes original Chris and his brother wrote most of the songs and that goddamn Hammond Leslie organ is pure soul. Ever since you reacted to Jealous Again I can't not not see Mick Jagger in his vibe. I have seen these guys so many times and never been disappointed. The last tour in the summer they played their whole first album and they do a cover of Hard To Handle that Otis would be proud of. And totally from the Stax and Chess churches. Lol

@lemonycake it's an easy thing to think. They're songs sound like they were recorded during the hey day of Chess Records or Atlantic. Ahmet Ertogan would have loved The Crowes.
