Ten Years After .. one of the most Under appreciated bands in history. These guys SHOULD have been up there with any "super group" you care to mention.
Oh man, this version is the best so far! Awsome, bass. I love this song in any version (along with the Train Kept-A-Rollin' songs), but let em tell ya: after 40 yrs of music loving - this song will be on my daily program to play! Thanx
TYA (and Traffic) so egregiously underrated. It is criminal! Alvin is is my top 5 all-time guitarists, singer-songwriters. So...after hearing "Spoonful", you know where Cream came up with their sound, right?
I came here for Ten Years After but I was blown away by the visuals!!! Of course TYA was great as well. Alvin Lee one of the best and definitely fastest guitarists ever. Thanks for the this wonderful upload.
Alvin Lee one of the first shredders the best blues guitarists ever whole Band Ten Years After Rock heres to You Alvin rest in peace. You may be gone but you're not forgotten your music lives on😎🎸🌈🎸🎶🎼🎵🎸
Absolutely! British bands such as Cream, Rolling Stones, Led Zep'lin and 10 Years After certainly were responsible for bringing the blues to white audiences. Ain't nothing cooler than the blues!
Because the judges and those casting bites now are (1) Younger - Haven't even heard this music Biased/jeoulos of the talent that can't be replicated Don't have the mind/heart/soul to appreciate it (2)Are beholding either consciously or unconsciously to current artists So such polls/lists/rankings are bound by a timeframe As time progresses the rankings/ratings are more slanted away from previous generations
This is classic ! I've had a few evenings where everything looked like this . One of my all-time favorite blues songs , I must have 20 or so versions of it , it just never gets old .
First self titled album in 67, was unique, no single released, led the way with Jazz Blues Rock fusion, was at the fore front of the second British wave...and yet no HOF..travesty
Sorry ya'll... This is the very best version of " Spoonful " done by anyone, anywhere, anyhow. Alvin Lee was by far better than any one of his peers. So sad that he didn't enjoy the same acclaim. I know. I grew up in that great time. R.I.P. Brother.....
Saw Cream at the old Grande Ballroom in Detroit and TYA at Ford Auditorium a couple of years later. Different blues bands, but both the best there ever was at what they did.
It was because of bands like Ten Years After and Cream that black musicians had to look elsewhere when it came to music. These groups wrote, played and arranged better rock, blues and jazz than any of the black artists...They took this music to it's limits and back again. There was nowhere left to go. God Bless You and R.I.P. Alvin Lee!
It was the British that took this music and made it incredible. White boys like you were listening to Free Bird over and over and over. Your ideas are whacko.
Light shows were the perfect compliment to the states of altered consciousness Back In The Day.... Joshua, Pig, and Joe`s Lights were a few of the more popular artists....Fillmore East was pretty much my regular hang in those days, I was living a couple blocks away on E. 7th St.
Jim Hancock It's exactly, exactly what I say to people. They were always underrated. I always have Lee right after Eric, then it's a toss-up between Jeff Beck, Duane Allman, Mike Bloomfield, Peter Green an Jimmy Page. As you said though Lee takes a back seat to no one. I never saw anyone else who can fly down the neck of his guitar like Lee.
Oh yes he does,,, this does not rate if you compare with Cream ,,, to think so shows your lack of musical integrity ,, that means you don’t recognise ; 1. Tempo is too fast to fully utilise inherent syncopation 2.Flaws abound in its execution 3. Structurally weak ( bass drums dynamics nonexistent) 4. Lead solo inconsistent execution , lacks a coherent story , poor note selection simply boring. 5. Vocally inept ,,, This is pop bubblegum to think otherwise is not worthy of any seriousness .
I remember when Ten Years After played in NYC and they were introduced by a British announcer who said," Ladies and gentlemen, let's welcome Ten Years Afhter", in his distinctly British accent. It was a riot.
SUPERBE ! Merci pour ces graphismes qui sont la réplique de ceux des années 70 ! (Didier D'Agostino drummer/videos sur youtube ) fan de ce groupe de cette époque !
he's right indeed, this tunes is howling wolf's, but what cream and ten years after did to the song (i'm sorry howling wolf, you're still a maestro), it became much more legandary.
Ten Years After .. one of the most Under appreciated bands in history. These guys SHOULD have been up there with any "super group" you care to mention.
they are in my opinion
Righton
He IS...One of Jimi's favs...I was BLOWN AWAY at Woodstock seeing him up close...Good voice and shreds away with ANYBODY...
I will take this over any music of 2019! This is what I call straight forward and to the point rock and roll! We named our cat Alvin after Alvin Lee.
Alvin set the standard that Guitarists and Vocalists continue to attempt to emulate to this day.
My favorite
Sir, you are so right..
Rest in Peace Alvin. Your version of 'Spoonful' remains my national anthem.
Nobody plays the rock-n-blues quite like Alvin. Thanks for the great post.
Rest in Peace Alvin. Your music lives on forever.
Oh man, this version is the best so far! Awsome, bass. I love this song in any version (along with the Train Kept-A-Rollin' songs), but let em tell ya: after 40 yrs of music loving - this song will be on my daily program to play! Thanx
one of the best performances ever !!!
My favorite guitar hero ever 😮
TYA (and Traffic) so egregiously underrated. It is criminal! Alvin is is my top 5 all-time guitarists, singer-songwriters. So...after hearing "Spoonful", you know where Cream came up with their sound, right?
@@risseldyrosseldy910 Hah! Always like to hear opposing view points, Risseldy. No matter, it's all good, pardner.
Saw him any times at the filmore east he was just incredible to watch and hear . He is missed.
The best version in the world.. I love😍
Absolutely NO doubt about that!!!!!
I saw these guys 4 times in Bay Area back in the day. They were fantastic.
i saw these guys a few times in my life and man wow!!!
I came here for Ten Years After but I was blown away by the visuals!!!
Of course TYA was great as well. Alvin Lee one of the best and definitely fastest guitarists ever.
Thanks for the this wonderful upload.
RIP alvin..... great music you left us.
How is it that Alvin Lee is not one of the top 100 guitarists of all time>
EXACTLY!!
But I THINK HE IS!?!
That guitar solo is fucking hypnotizing
This is classic ! I've had a few evenings where everything looked like this . One of my all-time favorite blues songs , I must have 20 or so versions of it , it just never gets old .
my god! I can't believe i've never heard this what an incredible psychedelic video
How is it possible that TYA is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
Because they are not about the music, plain and simple
First self titled album in 67, was unique, no single released, led the way with Jazz Blues Rock fusion, was at the fore front of the second British wave...and yet no HOF..travesty
Uno dei suoi pezzi migliori. Tiratissimo, passaggi nuovi, Alvin Lee in forma strepitosa. Indimenticabile.
Alvin always hits the spot, saw him 3 times live, in 1987, lamour queens, lamour brooklyn, and tower theatre in philly
Ah, the lost days of our youth!
Forever young. I still love Alvin Lee. 48 years after!
Alvin is in rare form here. He loves the Fillmore. He loves the acoustics. He was always going to give the best performance.
✌️⚡️🎸❤️
Sorry ya'll... This is the very best version of " Spoonful " done by anyone, anywhere, anyhow. Alvin Lee was by far better than any one of his peers. So sad that he didn't enjoy the same acclaim. I know. I grew up in that great time. R.I.P. Brother.....
willie dixon and howlin wolf do it better. Alvin lee does guitar bestbut singing the blues was perfected long before him
Rock on upstairs, Alvin, we'll all be seeing you again someday, I hope.
Timeless ..
Alvin Lee when only the best will do. RIP
I saw them in St. Louis in 1971, a riot broke out when they kick into I'm Goin' Home. Jim
Alvin Lee is the best guitar player ever!!!! 50000 miles away*
Dropped some blotter and enjoyed the ride. Loved the 70's. I'm around still. Love to share my memories
Saw Cream at the old Grande Ballroom in Detroit and TYA at Ford Auditorium a couple of years later. Different blues bands, but both the best there ever was at what they did.
Musik vom Feinsten... Vielen Dank für`s Hochladen
Best version!
Ten year after better and better
Crazy about this spoonful

rceschi2 wouldn't be a song to play if no one wrote it
Remember Hendrix.
It was the British that took this music and made it incredible. White boys like you were listening to Free Bird over and over and over. Your ideas are whacko.
Psychedelia pulsating:)
..like u Vamp...X
my ears are happy after hearing that **
Alvin fantástic Lee 🎸 awesone versión
Thanks. You are too kind. I'm addicted to colors!

Love me some Alvin Lee !! Rockin that Red Guitar !! Gone Too Soon ! RIP !
absolutly wonderful !!!!
at 3:05..😨
Classic, iconic blues tune!
When you reference 'psychedelia at it's zenith' you'll always find a silhouette of Ten Years After, front and center...
Great slide show!! To accompany such great music!! Happy daze!!
Très bon guitariste....le son de ma jeunesse qui dure toujours..
that is by far one of the best videos i've seen in my entire life
Great!!!
I fully agree with you Don, but we have still our memories to keep alive.
Adore !
Fantastic!!!!................................
And this kiddies is what we called music back in the day
Some wicked blues guitar.
The best 4 note intro to a jam ever. Long live GAB's.
Alvin Lee has been under rated for years. While I prefer Jack Bruce singing this, Lee takes a back seat to no one on this, including Clapton
Another very cool version...czcams.com/video/TJ0Pb_78G8E/video.html
I love Eric Clapton but I like Alvin better 😁
I don't know. imo Clapton is good but overrated. I'll take Alvin over Eric any day

I cant get a nuff of this seen them back in the day kick ass show
Contribute to the sixties time flash! This is real good work!
great! R.I.P. ALVIN
Who could dislike this? Alvin ROCKS!
I remember when Ten Years After played in NYC and they were introduced by a British announcer who said," Ladies and gentlemen, let's welcome Ten Years Afhter", in his distinctly British accent. It was a riot.
Great track !
kneelandpray2
Howling wolf wrote this a an old fucking blues song
What a threatening ryhthm-section. Crank it UP!! I love it!
Seven minutes is too short for this song. I ve played it again and again.
nothing like it .good tunes.
Howlin Wolf is looking down smiling....
great song video is spectacular
SUPERBE ! Merci pour ces graphismes qui sont la réplique de ceux des années 70 ! (Didier D'Agostino drummer/videos sur youtube ) fan de ce groupe de cette époque !
Carry that watermelon! Wow what a version!
Incredible cover of an Eric Clapton/Cream classic! Fantastic new arrangement!
Quite a masterful video
One of the original.... Guitar Gods..... When guitar shredding was not the norm. Alvin and Ritchie ruled.
RIP
Exelente version , bravo por el finao Alvin ( R.I.P.)
Such a trip
Ten year after refresco la mente gracias
bautiful song... omg this song makes me goin on a journey... holy shit!!! hahaha xD
He was so Diverse, his album with Myron Lefevre was inspirational
Love the graphic art lava lamp.
I like this better then Cream's cover and that was great. Alvin Lee the most underrated guitar player of the 60's
Nobody plays the rock-n-blues quite like Alvin.
Nice memories... the seventies..
De lo mejor de lo mejor así es esa gente
Super blues ☺😊😀
STONED has always been the best way to watch Disney's Fantasia ...
Your ticket to the good old days.
AWESOME
Yeah! Very nice video! I really enjoyed it. Greetings from San Francisco...

Me gusta mucho esta version n.n

Lost in my mind forever
