I always felt that Alvin went for speed and virtuosity at the expense of lyricism and musicality. Good technically, but too repetitive. I would not rate him as high as Hendrix .

Ten Years After they had the Blues flowing through their veins. One of the best groups of the seventies. I herad them in Munich play LIVE exactly five times. They rocked the crowd like nobody else! Unfortunately the brilliant guitarist (Alvin Lee) died quite a while ago already. They continued without him, but in my opinion it wasn`t the same Jörg J.

So to assert anything is "better" is a tall, tall order. Let's just say they are both among the finest examples of what authentic rock music is all about - high energy, skilled musicians who are totally inside the sound, volume and burning hot vacuum tubes, transcendent emotions, eccentric style. Yeah life is good.
