- This 1977 Super 8 film has audio jumps at some splices, but still a great ride, watch to the end and then watch Funeral for a Friend, better known as Roller Coaster Weekend. When film was film!!

I still can’t accept Alvin left us, his guitar is Haunting me, what a giant, rip A.L. We miss you and thank you for all the beautiful music you gave us!!!
Alvin Lee was a phenomenal genius
R.I.P. Alvin Lee. You were always one of my guitar heroes.
A great axeman !!! RIP Alvin Lee.
I love this song. My best friend and I were stopped at a rural railroad crossing, in a blinding rainstorm, as a coal train rumbled past us at full speed. We were listening to this song. The best part was that the train finally passed by as the song ended.
Very nice experience
A true musical moment!
"Standing at the Station" is an underrated, undervalued, underappreciated gem. So metaphorical, not about trains in this case, but about Alvin Lee and TYA themselves. I'll never understand why they seemingly (in public perception) didn't reach the stratosphere like the 'Stones, Zep, The Who, etc. TYA is highly deserving to be discussed in the same breath.
Well said Todd.
They didn't do too bad as far as being known...Alvin said he made more money than he should have. They just weren't a 'radio friendly' band. So if your a fan you can pat yourself on the back for having such excellent musical taste!
+Todd Holman You are correct on every level. I have wondered why, as well, for years. Maybe it's because they just were not managed or promoted as well as the other biggies.......who knows? I know they had just as much heart, soul, and talent as the others, if not more! In my book they had a sound and style that is raw, heartfelt, rockin and EPIC.
+Todd Holman You're so right. Can't agree more!
Shook the man's hand a few years ago in Llandudno he was playing with Edgar winter and Tony McPhee. Real gent sad loss
They don't make 'em like TYA anymore. Forever in my memory ... RIP Alvin Lee.
People can say what they like, but this song is one of the greatest instrumentals of all time (yes, it has a brief injection of lyrics) the final 4 minutes are virtuoso genius.
I agree 100%
Even though I've listening rock music for decades I had never listened this great song till now .
From blues, to Rock, to JAZZ,THE Man, was a great Rock to and Blues, RIP, MY BROTHER
Imo,one of the Top 10 most talented bands that ever lived.
I HAD HOPED, For many years, There would be a "Ten Years After" followed by by a "TEN YEARS LATER' followed by a " TEN YEARS AFTER LATER." THANK YOU FOR A LONG ENJOYABLE RIDE, LOVE YOU MAN, R.I.P. Captain Speedfingers R.I.P.
Musically, this a is a great song. Talkin' to my youngest friend at work the other day. He's into rap and today's music. However, He told me he misses the guitar in music. Sad but true. This song contains a great keyboard solo and also guitar solo by the great Alvin Lee. One of my all time favorites from the 70's! Drums and bass keep your toes tappin'. Takes the concept of train tracks to a musical platform. Classic rock. Under rated... seldom heard. 5 stars
Rap and todays commercial music sucks! Show him todays great music! Introduce him to Samantha and Amanda Fish, Rosalie Cunningham, Davey Knowles, etc..So much great new music!! The corporate whoremega corps dont promote it, but classic rock is back in a huge way!!

Now THAT is what I call GREAT tunes!
Glad you posted this.
Love this and Bob Segar turn the page…
This song contains a fantastic second set with the solo of Alvin and the irresitible piano progression of Chick. The contamination between blues rock and jazz mood is total.
For more than 50 years i adore trains and TYA!!! I discovered this number only today!! I'am in heaven!
if it were released today, it would have no problem getting 1,000,000 listens... way ahead of it's time.
R.I.P. Mr. Alvin Lee.Thanks for your music that was with me through the best and worst times of my life :)
TYA the BEST nuff said RIP ALVIN!

One of my favorite from the best, bought the first album in 1967 and still listen today.
Sadly this song never received the airplay deserved. It is one great song revealing Ten Years After at their very best ! Great guitar-organ interplay. Great drumming and bass play.

Lyrics
Well, I'm standin' at the station
And the rain don't make a sound
Got a Bible in my pocket
Cause my plane was just shot down
My mind is all confusion
I believe I'm in a play
Throw my Bible out the window
As the train goes on it's way
Gonna leave my blues behind me
Gonna find another town
Gonna try and find some people
Who this time won't bring me down
As I step out of the carriage
The station looks the same
As the one I left behind me
Though it has another name
Best song off the LP,RIP my brother
Thanks for the upload, you are the man! Like so many others I've also been looking for this, my favorite Ten Years After tune.
Absolutely stunning!
Thank you for your comment. You were the last to remark as You Tube banned this video after 8 years of posting!!
My video of 8 years ago with 140,000 views has been removed by the copyright owner, why now, I don't know, but thanks for watching. Terry

Brilliant, one of all time favourites from Alvin.
Most Outstanding, Roster1421! Thank you for posting. This is without parallel. It's unlikely that there are bigger TYA fans than me.
Totally Awesome !
This is my favorite home made vid on here, just wish the audio didn't keep dropping out.
Good song. Great footage of my hometown B&O railroad which later merged into the Chessie System w/ a great TYA tune in the background. Like it.
Thanks, Mark
1974 and 1975 Alvin in Rome Palasport I was there

Now that's one roster I totally endorse , unlike the shit we have to endure on ours !
I have been looking for this song EVERYWHERE. My turntable busted so I can't play the LP. I couldn't find it anywhere on CD (Rockin' Roll Music to the World). Thanks so much for uploading this classic. I will be practicing now on the piano.

After enjoying this great clip a/v ( excellent work roster1421 !) these thoughts hit me : Where the "Town Station" = This Country, The"People" =The Politican, The Carriage = The Political Process and the Train on It's Track, with empty seats, well that would be what Wise Men once named a place United through Freedom, using the three words "WE THE PEOPLE". Peace
Thank you very much! You may also enjoy Funeral for a Friend, not watched much but a fun ride. Terry
Ten year siempre grato escuchar a los comandos gracias por su música
RAW, ROCK 'n' ROLL !!
Очень доволен что открыл их!
@empath06
happy to be of help, thanks for watching!
Thank you for your kind comment!!
Check out Roller Coaster Weekend ... it's a trip!
TYA was better than any over rated band it was good that way so not any idiot listen to these treasures that Alvin Lee left us.
C'était un excellent groupe, il n'a pas eu le succès mérité.
Le problème était qu'ils étaient souvent dans cette même tonalité... Peu de variantes
Buen tema
@jacklazzell thanks for your comment, glad you liked it!!
I'm going home!!
Соло специфическое и узнаваемое для этой группы

@ Ken King
Thanks for that Ken it is beautiful. It is just the way it is for me right now , I am thinking to write that down so I will always remember.
