I cleaned the rest of the inside of the console with the condensed air, the contact cleaner, and a bunch of q-tips while I was at it. My 9 year old son helped out a lot too, so it was very educational for him as well. Plus you saved me lots of money. Thanks again.

My 360 was having occasional Open Tray errors, fixable by just making it open and close a dozen times until it worked, then suddenly a few weeks ago it went to unending error no matter what I tried. I opened the box to see what drive I had in case I needed a replacement, and thought I would try the 10 cent fix with a q-tip before the $40 new drive version. I watched your video, and it showed me perfectly what I needed to fix, and it works now, first try. Thank you.

Works perfect, was able to clean it a little too. The cleaner was $14.00 at radio shack. Which was too high to buy. So I used mass air flow sensor cleaner that I had brought for about a year ago. Thank fuck for CZcamsrs like you. After 3 videos I learnt how to take apart an xbox without the xtool, how to remove the disk drive and how to clean and maintainance from you. I had the Open Tray error which at first became the Unrecognised Disk error but it's now working. Thanks very much man!!
THANK YOU XBOX GENIE. spent all night trying the other fixes. my xbox is way past warranty and i followed the steps in this video and fifa 11 loaded RIGHT UP. inside my cd-rom was a bunch of nasty black crud. didnt have to use the contact cleaner just wiped it all real good with a Q tip as suggested. A+ thank you man
thank you so much. this video helped me fix my cd drive, i tried other things like oiling the motor and cleaning lense but never knew about the sensor in the front. once i cleaned that with a cue tip, my drive now works. thanks so much!
i powered my disk drive up and come to conclusion the top steel casing is the problem but was unaware of sensors under the tray so think ill give them a clean off :) thanks for the great tut here

nice job. Lead me to fixing a clip sticking up getting in the way of the tray opening and closing. it was good to see the motion of the tray and how it should work and then to compare it to mine and trouble shoot from there.

@hbkjose1 See 1:50 to get it open. Check the belt under the tray is tight. Square belt 3.0" in size. Also something maybe in the way of tray opening all the way. Could be many things.
I fixed it how you showed us, but I used just a tiny drop of hydrogen peroxide instead to clean the spinner and the lens slider where you wiped next to it. My xbox worked great now. Thanks a lot. (:
the guy is right about the switch, i found mine had dropped down slighty. all that holds the switch in a plastic wedge. i pushed the switch up from underneath and glued it in place and has worked great since.
Thanks it worked for me. the first time i put the disk in, it showed open tray, but the second time i put the same disk in, i was able to play the game, and it still works for me. my laser just needed some cleaning :)

Very nice will try this thanks, my last xbox did the same open tray error as the one I have now, the last xbox when I opened it the spindle had actually splattered the grease in the bearing, I am presuming, so I lube it up and it did well til the laser finally died out on it...

Awesome Tutorial man. at 1:43 helped me a lot. i would of never found the damn thing. i am trying to fix a friend Xbox tray and he mangled it up pretty good trying to pry it open.
thanks for making this, 2 of my xboxes were getting this error. i went through the steps but accidently pulled on the copper contacts under the tray. finally got those connecting correctly and it seems to at least worked for now. going to try on the second xbox later. house of smokers so i'm thinking the dust might add to this issue.

@TheSilentxKiller that is where the lens is when it is at home position...check the spindle motor rotates easily
