How to Fix the Open Tray Error /Problem for Xbox 360 & Slim - No Voided Warranty

- This video shows how to fix the "Open Tray" issue affecting Xbox 360's when a disc is placed in the console yet the Xbox doesn't realize it is present. I have never seen any other fixes like this one, and it always works. It doesn't void the warranty and doesn't involve senseless tapping on the top. This will fix the mechanism that spins the disc if it isn't working because the glue has clogged it. However this won't fix a dirty laser. However, you could tape a pipe cleaner on the bottom of a disc, and use a thread to spin the disc to wipe off the laser!!

Worked well, had to repeat the process about 6 times and then it finally started working. Thank you very much.
If you tried spinning the disc around 20 times, I recommend that you keep doing it. There have been many times where I had to do it 40+ times.Still beats paying to fix it!

after 30 mins of trying to load a game gave this a go, took a few attempts but now in, no idea how long it'll last but well done matey!
I tried all these other methods except taking the thing apart, and first time it fixed it, a big glob of sticky rubber stuck to the string and boom its fixed. you little beauty, Thanks so much!

It's March 2024 and this actually worked!
My Xbox 360 has sat idle for the past year and least week I encountered this problem when trying to play a few games.
It took some trial and error to get the timing and force of the pull just right; but after 6 attempts, this worked!!!

Hey everyone! Since this video might not work for u guys and it didn't work for me I'll tell u my way: so what I did was take apart the WHOLE Xbox, while doing so I cleaned out ALL the dust and put it back together. After that it worked perfectly! The reason it might not be working is because there is too much dust inside it and it blocks the "eye" from reading the disc.

This addresses one of a couple reasons the xbox won't read a disk. if you put a disk in and you can hear it spinning in there don't waste your time on this. this is for when you put the disk in and can hear the laser move, but not the humming sound of the rom spinning

i followed this method and tried like 20 times and it didnt work. Then i went to your other video and tried that and it worked!! I didnt use a pipe cleaner though. I used a feather lol. thanks man! Hopefully it stays working...

@MrChrisssssyG pull very very very slightly on the string when you close the tray, as soon as you feel the string loosen that is when you want to pull the string really fast not necessarily really hard! Hope this helps like it did for everyone else!
