    Sitting also deactivates the glutes causing the hamstrings to work harder

      exactly. Need to work glutes to fix this issue. Single leg glue bridge, clamshells, and RDLS are a great option to fix this.

    Can this lead to knee pain from the same tightness and shortening? My knees hurt when I sit too long and I've noticed relief when I stretch my quads by pulling up feet up behind my butt.

    Streach the harmsting and hip flexor and your Front side of the Leg and just make your Harmstring stronger

    I know too much sitting is bad, but I've also read too much standing is bad, too. What's your take on that? What is the ideal ratio of sitting to standing?

      Changing positions often is best
      Standing, sitting on different surfaces and walking

    Can this be the cause of my tight hamstrings? Its only tight on the left one, i can say its tight with stiffness/pain

    Stretching the hip flexors wouldn't help if you don't strengthen them and glutes

    lol Yeah, just do that at work every hour... Impossible. How about give an exercise that is work office friendly.
