The Root Cause of Tight hamstrings and Anterior Pelvic Tilt

  • Weak, overpronated feet cause the knees to internally rotate, sending the pelvis into an anterior pelvic tilt. This forward rotation pulls on the hamstrings, making them feel tight. This entire process starts at the feet, highlighting them as the foundation of the body and the root cause of many muscular and postural issues.

Interesting, I must be an exception since I’ve had underpronation (weight on both outer sides of the side) due to Hallux Limitus. My hamstrings/hips are so tight I haven’t been able to squat in years.

The culprit: Modern thick sole shoes.

Ask for orthopedic soles it helps a lot, then physical therapy could finish the work if the soles aren't enough

What about supination? I have the tilt and tight hamstrings but supination instead of pronation

never stretch hamstring ( release and activate/integrate only) as they tend to be long and overactive

I found that strengthening my hamstrings and glutes through bodyweight exercises (like squats and lunges) and moderate weightlifting has helped pick up my feet arches. Something that has been happening is my knees are a little extra twingey due to the change in my foot arch, so focusing on keeping my knees gliding in alignment over my foot in movements (and not swinging in or caving out) has helped with their stability. I hope you find relief, movement is medicine ❤ Knees Over Toes guy could be helpful to watch!

When I was a child, the exercise given for low arches was to tip-toe and walking on heels alone to exercise the muscles. I don't know if that is effective, though.
