Every Single KYBER CRYSTAL Type Fully Explained - Star Wars [CANON]

- he Kyber Crystal is the heart of a Jedi’s Lightsaber. And because of the way they gain their colour, it is also the heart of that Jedi themself. These mysterious crystals are actually living beings and are able to sing out to force users, selecting them as worthy to hold the crystal. Once that force user answers the call and harvests the Kyber crystal from its resting place, they immediately imbue it with their emotion, mental state and personality traits, which tints it a certain colour. If you happen to be in a state of deep connection with the cosmic force like Qui-Gon Jinn, your crystal will turn green.... but if you’re more aggressive but still following the will of the living force, it may turn blue. But there is more to a crystal than just it’s colour, and there are actually classes of lightsaber crystal which give the resulting saber very unique and special effects. So, lets break down the meaning of every single Kyber crystal in Canon and what traits they give a fully constructed saber.
#StarWars #LightsaberCrystal #KyberCrystal
*Number 1. The Barab Ingot Crystals*
Barab Ingots were a very unqiue and dangerous type of lightsaber cyrstal which were found on the heavily irradiated planet of Barab I. they were usually found in clusters deep inside of the planet’s mountain ranges, and were physically hot to the touch when harvested. Because the planet they resided on was a radioactive wasteland, the crystals were highly radioactive also and gave off a feint green glow. When placed inside of a lightsaber they created a very powerful fiery blade and turned the whole saber radioactive.
*Number 2. Seeker Crystals*
Seeker crystals were a variety of kyber which when used, created a pink blade. It also allowed it’s user to detect nearby living beings, regardless of if they were force sensitive or not. It did this by attuning to its user through the force and acted as their sixth sense, being able to detect danger and hidden beings in a large radius around them.
The Origins of these crystals are shrouded in mystery, but dark rumors began to spread that said they came from the outside edges of the galaxy and from beings much more powerful than anyone had witnessed before.
*Number 3. Kimber stones*
Kimber stones were found on the Moon of Y’Ness and honestly, they were pretty bad. When placed inside of a saber, they produced an pathetically weak, non lethal blade. Because of this, the Jedi refused to use them for many years, but over time they soon realized that as peacekeepers, a non lethal saber variant actually does align with their values...
*Number 4. Solari Crystals*
Solari crystals were an exceptionally rare type of kyber, which formed an unusually wide blade that was great for blocking blaster bolts. These crystals were so rare that they were thought to be myths by the time of the Empire, and because of this, light side force users in hiding gathered them and made sure to protect them from evil powers. Another really cool feature of this blade was that its width was directly linked to the user’s inner turmoil. So if its user became conflicted or deepy worried, the blade would become thinner and harder to block blaster bolts with.
*Number 5. Christophsis Crystals*
These crystals were a very common type of lightsaber crystal found on, you guessed it, Christophsis. The planet was a major location in the early days of the Clone Wars, and although it was strategically important to the Republic, it was even more important to the Jedi Order because of it’s kyber deposits.
The blade created by Christophsis crystals actually amplified any kinetic energy imparted into the blade when it was swung. In other words, it made every swing of the blade much faster and stronger, even if the user was relatively weak.
*Number 6. Nishalorite stones*
Nishalorite stones were a class of kyber crystal found on planets which had very strong magnetic fields. They were dark-gray or dark blue in color and produced thick, dense blades. Interestingly, they also intensified when pointed towards the magnetic north of whatever planet they were on.
*Number 7. Ghostfire Crystals* - Zábava

I find Obsidian to be the most interesting of the "Red" Crystals due to the fact they're not created via bleeding other Kyber Crystals with hatred, anger, and fear they just happen to be natural conductors of "Dark Side" Energy hence the reason why a lightsaber powered by a Obsidian Crystal has the Red Color associated with Sith Lightsabers. So it could be possible for a Jedi who feels emotions like anger, and fear but is able to resist the temptation of giving into them and falling to Dark Side will be able to use a Red Colored Lightsaber powered by an Obsidian Crystal.
Wow, didn't know this, Very interesting
@@LaraA55 Yes it is mostly cause unlike the traditional "Red" Crystal Obsidian is a naturally created Kyber Crystal that can be found if you know where to look, and not created via bleeding a Kyber Crystal with hatred, fear, and anger with the only reason why Obsidian powered Lightsabers have Red Blades is because Obsidian is a natural conductor of "Dark Side" Energy.
Whats also funny is that obsidian can be the WORLDS SHARPEST THING down to the very cels on your boady.... yet they thave similar streangth to glass
Did u know in a comic from 2003 it showed Jedi rules/codes just look up Jedi rule 34 and h will find it
@@EggwolI bruh. Everyone knows what rule 34 is.
Thank you Samuel L. Jackson for requesting a purple lightsaber. Without you this video wouldn't be possible.
Why wouldn't it be possible 🤪
I think the crystal I am most intrigued about, is Ezra's. The manner in which it was given to him was very a mystical like experience, it just kind of floated down to him, while Yoda spoke, almost as if Yoda was the one giving it to him directly. And once he builds his Lightsaber/blaster configuration, the sound his Lightsaber makes is distinctly different from most other Lightsabers, I don't know if his crystal is a Kyber crystal, or perhaps some other crystal native to Lothal?
Though eventually, Vader slashes his Lightsaber in half, and the next time we see him with a Lightsaber is in season 3 of Rebels, but his newly constructed Lightsaber emits a green blade, instead of a blue one; so I'm curious to know whether he is using the same exact crystal in his new Lightsaber that he obtained at the Lothal Jedi Temple, or did he have to go find and connect with another crystal, and if it is his same original crystal, why is it that it now emits a green blade?
Very curious. 🤔
It is confirmed that Ezra was in the World Between Worlds in that really early episode where he gets the crystal from Yoda, so maybe that one was a Dagobah crystal passed through the WBW to him from Yoda
@@StarForceOne Hm, now that is interesting, I never knew that.
So, any insights on why his Lightsaber changed from blue to green between seasons 2 & 3? Since he's using the same crystal I'd assume, not to mention that he was learning a lot from the Sith Holocron at the time, perhaps that had something to do with it?
The green kyber means a Jedi who are interested in the knowledge of the force (A Jedi Consular) and Ezra wanted to know more about he force in order to get stronger from the sith holacron tho he was using the dark side, he wanted to know more about his force abilities I guess as he was building a new lightsaber the crystal turned green.
@@Pattmore i mean if we follow the current lore about how crystals change, i wouldnt put it past them to make is so that if there is a shift in mentality on how you use the force, when building a new saber, assuming you have the same old crystal, i see no reason why the crystal wouldnt change colors during the process, in fact it might even be more of a surprise to the jedi like woah i was expecting blue now its green, lets gooo! lol
Always just thought he got kanans crystal
My favorite lightsaber colors are Cyan and Yellow for their unique takes on balance. It would be interesting if there was a canon Kyber crystal which primarily used those colors.
Dagon in jedi survivor uses yellow
I like the Legends version of the light sabre, where each sabre can take up to three crystals (and the great sabre or double-bladed sabre is able to take 4), a primary crystal and two focusing crystals (although a sabre can run with just one crystal it was preferred to run them with a full complement of three), this way you can customize your sabre to however you want, you bond and shape your primary crystal as normal but then as you progress in your journey in the force you add crystals to your sabre to reflect your growing connection, knowledge and skills in force.
This was in Jedi Academy or KotOR games? 🤔
@@rosmelylawliet3919 it is in Legends, just google lightsabre (I can't add a link as it gets rejected) and read wookipedia, make sure you swap it over from canon to Legends and read up.
Canon a sabre can only take one crystal but in legends, they can take 3.
I like how KOTOR games also had modifier crystals, like the Phond and other such crystals that worked in tandem with the Kyber cristals
This Video Is Actually *IMPOSSIBLY* Useful, I’m Actually Really Glad This Video Exists Because I’ve Always Wanted To Learn Everything I Could On Every Crystal That Can Be Used In A Lightsaber
You forgot one, Quaza Stone.
Due to being so rare, Quaza Stone Lightsabers were practically unheard of. They came in two varieties, and only those with a Quaza Core or Force Sensitivity could tell the two blades produced apart.
The blades in question were identical, being a red blade with a black core. Regular Quaza was attuned to the light side, making it the only way to produce a red blade within the light. The other was Anti-Quaza, which, although identical to regular Quaza, it’s blade would be attuned to the Dark Side, and were it not so rare, many Sith would probably have used them.
Both types of Quaza Stone were capable of bringing inanimate objects to life, including droids and the planets that housed the Quaza at their cores.
Planets with regular Quaza at their core would be lush and green, absolutely beautiful. However, those planets with Anti-Quaza cores were plagued with darkness and were often barren and savage.
It is believed by some that Exogol may in fact have Anti-Quaza reserves at its core. But efforts to mine for it have failed.
A final note, due to its high energy nature, lightsabers powered by either type of Quaza Stone must use only raw Quaza, as if purified the Quaza inside could release an energy blast upon being given a charge that it is said to make the big bang look like a tiny spark.
Enjoy!
So when the universe enters heat death we fire a few of these bad boys for testing.
If it makes big bang tiny then that would mean the whole starwars galaxy would be blown up and how do they know that. They would need to try it out and that would instantly kill everyone so how is that possible´?
@@eeurr1306 It was a figure of speech, not literally make the big bang look like a tiny spark.
@@Brickticks Im aware its not 100% accurate but considering how other people often use such comparisons it might just be what they mean.
What the hell are you talking about man. Where in canon does it ever say this
Great video! Always wanted a video on kyber crystals. I hadn’t even heard of a lot of them either.
Playing a Star Wars FFG game got my Kyber Crystal last session, a Zophis Crystal to be specific. I put it in a crossguard saber because one of the best one I could make with my mechanics roll. Also it was Yellow.
That's awesome, enjoy the game!
@@StarForceOne I know it's not the purpose of this channel but if you do play or eventually play Star Wars FFG, I'd love to hear the stories from it. There's not enough good stories out there from it; best I can think of is the Sith Janitor.
another amazing video as always keep it up
You have the BEST voice for narration
Very interesting videos, keep it up mate 👌🏻😎
Glad you like them!
@StarForceOne wowwww...I didn't know there were so many kyber crystal types. This blew my mind. Fascinating indeed
This is very interesting!
i think the lava crystal from legends was extremly cool and made everything it touched into lava though an ice crystal that changes things to ice would be cool too
6:42 nice music choice
That avatar theme at 6:43 though much respect
Another great video starforceone
I’m all about Teal color kyber crystals/ lightsabers. As well as gold/ golden amber kyber crystals.
I like legends kyber crystal explanation. But the canon explanation is super interesting.
On one hand I like the legends version of the red crystal being a mockery of the jedi but on the other hand bleeding a crystal is so cool
wonder how well a lightsaber would work if the blade was focused by both a Dragite gem and a Christophsis crystal
Cool 💎
Your Varpaline Crystal sounds a lot like the Carusca gem which wasn't listed on this video. The Carusca gem produced a saber far stronger then regular Ilum Sabers, and could cut metals that Ilum Sabers struggled with.
Thank you
You're welcome!
Lightsabers powered by Zeo Crystals, a Resurrection Stone, a Sorcerer Stone, Green Kryptonite, Red Kryptonite, Nuclear Diamond Battery Crystals, Uru and Darganite.
cannon or not my favorite is Windu's Hurikane Amethyst Khyber focusing crystal w amethyst purple protection blade or Revans Jedi blade that turned from blue to purple after his turn to Darkside, the one he used as a sith or jedi
Interesting, I thought that when Disney bought Star Wars they did away with all the crystal types, just only having it called kyber
They did. Well technically George Lucas never accepted any of this as canon as seen in The Clone Wars. Almost nothing in this video is canon.
@@DarthChoco Yeah, I was wondering if a good majority of this was actually canon. Kyber lore has been greatly consolidated, I thought.
Jedi just can't pick any kyber crystal it chooses you
they can
Finding the Crystal that calls to you is merely traditional. Jedi can and have used crystals that they merely happened upon.
Jedi are the ones who choose the crystal, but they need to earn the respect of the crystal and then maintain it. Jedi get the crystal to obey them with teamwork towards a better future, sith break their crystals untill they can't do else but obey.
I always wondered what my kyber crystal would be based on my personality.
You forgot about Carusca Gems.
They are some of the most valuable gems in the galaxy and they look like a blazing fire is inside each crystal. Some even say that they were named after courasant or vise verse. In Legends Luke said they produced a blade far more powerful then ilum sabers, and they could cut metals that other sabers struggled with.
Basically a steroided Lightsaber.
Krayt cyrystal?
Cooool i love the idea of a saber sounding like a krayt, that must me menacing af
Also is that avatar i hear?
Agreed, and yes that is Avatar 😀 I have an Avatar channel called AvatarStar , so I thought I’d throw it in 😂
@@StarForceOne guess you got a new subscriber on that channel
@@hypercane14 Thanks so much :)
@@hypercane14 i too shall sub as well
You forgot about the Kohlen crystal. It was introduced in the canon book “Master and Apprentice” (2019) and is said to be almost identical in appearance to kyber, although it is much less lethal. It is far rarer than real kyber, and produces an orange blade It’s only known to be be found on Pijal’s moon. It’s weird in that it can block a kyber lightsaber and actually bounce it back, rendering the lightsaber useless, but is able to pass through anything that uses another kohlen crystal, such as a shield generator.
Now I wonder if it even possible to forge all of these crystals to form into one
Why do i hear avatar music in the background? Anyway great video
You forgot one Type. I cant remeber the Name of it, but master yaddle Used it in canon. It makes a very weak lightsaber and is orange
Neat
3:21 this looks like a very old man-made structure, like it has survived more than one Younger Dryas level natural disaster.
Crazy that you unknowingly inserted something that could literally be from a civilization that existed long before the Ice Age. It looks exactly like the Sage Wall in Montana, or Gornaya Shoria in Siberia Russia
Where did you get this from never heard of these crystal types?
I like to think Snoke's Ring was just because it's bling.
What time does the radiator cover crystal and a document what can I use in a lightsaber company
Sorian Crystals are so cool
The starwars tabletop im in i got a ghostfire by sheer luck (and to the horror of my gm) its fun to use
In the third Jedi game it would be cool if we could swap out different Kyber crystal types for different abilities.
I love how you said radioactive waste land and its a Pictures from fallout 3
I Knew A Little Bit Of These Things But This Is IMPOSSIBLY Useful! Isn’t The Throne of The Sith On Exegol Part Kyber Crystal???
So is Kyber an element within the composition of the crystals?
What if I'm heading to with a bearing with ninjas kyber Crystal double-bladed ?
Is it possible to bleed an Obsidian Crystal? Since it's already imbued with the dark side it naturally has a red colour, but you further instilled it with one's hatred and malevolence, surely both one's bond with the crystal as well as its power would alter?
Idk I'm not too deep into Star Wars lore.
I'm playing KOTOR and my idea is "anikan if he never fell" but with a red blade just because I like the color
What about the infected blackeing kyber crystal
Naturally...I want a pile of each.
I wonder what would happen if a hypergem crystal was used?
Am I the only one that noticed he played the avatar theme in the background about two thirds of the way.
so if im connected to the force and use a lot of force powers i expect a green color right? but if it ends up being blue, does that mean i have to change to a more marital arts focused jedi? this is why the whole kyber turning when you use the force is a bit wtf to me. cuz IN CANON mace found an already purple crystal and that specific crystal called out to him in a dream. but now they are retconning it to because he created vapad is the reason his crystal turned purple? so forget the whole adventure he had to get that crystal, now if you have any dark side inclinations u get purple. i mean you can also kinda cheat the system like that.
I presume the dark saber uses force infused beskar to produce its blade
Wow.....this is awesome. Why can't this be in shows and movies?
Because it's not a story the Jedi would tell you...
@@agostonpitlik8045 that's not fair. These crystal are too cool.
@@kharijordan6426
It would indeed be cool if they showed it and I would like it to happen too. I was just using a prequel meme as a joke, like this:
"It's outrageous, it's unfair! How can these crystals stand among other shown crystals, but not be shown in movies and series?"
"Take a seat young crystal fan."
@@agostonpitlik8045 🤣 nice.
Whait, so do different types of crystals have different colors, or does the color only appear when a jedi takes possession of the crystal? Because it doesn't make sense to me
blade color is determined by the user harvesting the crystal, but crystal can give the blade extra attributes and features
Forgot Kohlen Crystal (Fool’s Kyber).
And the stone I would pick. Gotta go Underdog everytime.
Technically this video about Kyber crystals and They aren’t real kyber 😜 haha but yeah they’re cool af too
I have a question. Can you mix kyber crystals together to get an even more deadlier light saber?
You can have multiple crystals inside of a blade, so technically yes!
@@StarForceOne Damn that's terrifying
I don't know about stronger, but you can get different colors. In TFU novelization, Galen fuzed his father's blue crystal with Kota's green to make an aqua colored blade
@@michaellawhun5941 I feel terrified
Wasn’t one of the lorrdians frozen in amber in fortress inquisitorius or was that lady something else
What would happen if you put all the different kyber crystals in one lightsaber?
Very likely things would go ka boom
Ok but the avatar the last Airbender background music 😍
So what kind of crystal is the dark saber ?
9:15 how come avatar team is playing?
At 6:48 I noticed that the music playing is from Avatar The Last Airbender
It is :D
@@StarForceOne It's great music :)
Dragon pearl is my favorite
what about fools kyber? it's the only cannon mention of an orange blade
You forgot the ice crystal from hoth it creates the only cold lightsaber blade known in the Star Wars world
What does the type of Kyber Crystal?
I always thought the crystals always had there color
Is this even all canon and if so why don’t they ever show these kind of blades in the movies and shows that would be so dope to add more depth to the light saber but they don’t especially in the movies it’s just a light saber and there all exactly the same just different colors except for kylo Ren but that was when Disney started writing but still even then there all still pretty plane just with different colors
My favorite lightsaber is Lava Crystal
Abvextol crystal, in a double blade please
Could Jedi use Sith crystals, and can Sith use Jedi crystals, if so what would happen
but they had that element in the Bad Batch season 2 [6:47]
Is it weird that for some reason I wanted him to include fool's kyber on this list?
soundfont makers use the info here to make new cool fonts im waithing
All of this lore because Samuel L Jackson said “I want a purple one” 😂
My question then. Why would you take a literal physical personification of your connection to the force and weaponize it? 🧐 Seems like a very aggressive and violent choice for the Jedi to me.
But the light saber is arguably primarily a defensive weapon. It can't normally attack enemies at a distance like a blaster, and is mostly used for blocking and redirecting enemy attacks.
@@imnotmike a shield can do a much better job of that and is visually less threatening with fewer means of attack and much greater defensive properties.
Me looking at the thumbnail since when did the jedi and sith have infinity stones
star wars the rainbow kyber crystal What happened? There was a really hard to find. It's hard too. You're the only one you're asked to trial or your tests.
I swear I heard Avatar Aangs theme in the background
No ways is that the ATLA theme song 🥴
Yes it is 😏
Ngl i legit thot the thumbnail showed push pops
Is it just me or did he miss the Stygium crystals
Was that a fallout 3 scene??
Is dc and star wars conected+
Star Wars is already complicated this just makes it more complicated
it's funny obsidian is real LOL! It cleanses and clears negative energy!
idk why im watching this. cool video, but idk why
Where would heart of the guardian fall?
It would probably be it's own type. But I think the video only explains types which have a lot of crystals.
If the narrator listed every crystal type which only has one unique crystal, then this vudeo would've probably been an hour long.
The crystal amplifies the powers of whatever other crystals it is used with in a saber and it has a yellow core with a bronze hue around it.
There is a site called wookiepedia where you can read the data of the crystal.
Infinity stones are the crystals from Star Wars Loki proved it 😂😂
So pink crystals pretty much make you force sensitive...
Imagine if all of these were forged into one powerful cristal........
UNLIMITED POWER!!!!
Might blow up the whole galaxy 😂
